What was the oldest superhero cartoon and live-action movie you remember watching?

Oldest superhero cartoon for me would be Superman: The Mad Scientist (1941). We had a VHS tape of it along with Superman: The Last Son of Krypton (1996). I used to rewatch the latter cartoon all the time.

As for live-action it was Batman Returns (1992). But it's been so long since I've seen it last that I don't recall much of what happened. I guess I didn't really like Batman movies until The Dark Knight and wasn't a big fan of Tim Burton.

Anyways, I thought I would ask since superheroes are so popular nowadays. A lot of people like talking about the Marvel Cinematic Universe and DC Extended Universe which is fine but there's a lot of stuff that came before.

What was the oldest superhero cartoon you remember seeing? Live-action movie?

That same Superman serial for me as well. As far movies go we talking about in the theater because that would be Batman 89. Otherwise it would be Superman the movie or those live-action Spider-Man TV movies.

Live action would be Batman from the 60s, though that was syndicated. First run would be Shazzam, Wonder Woman, and the Spiderman TV show with the guy that looked like Peter Fonda.

Animated would be the Super Friends TV show.

I'm sure there were others before them, but most vividly: Batman Beyond for cartoon and Spawn for movie

freakin edge man

Batman Beyond easily has one of the coolest openings for a superhero cartoon.

I always liked the first couple seconds seeing those speed lines as you rush towards Neo-Gotham.

I guess the oldest cartoon would be one of those Superman ones too. Although I do remember watching Fantastic Four and Spider-man cartoons that felt much older, but they can't be older than the 40s since the characters are more recent.
For live action shows I remember Wonder Woman (with Lynda Carter) or Incredible Hulk (with Lou Ferrigno). I don't remember watching "real" super-hero movies before Tim Burton's Batman (1989). Unless you count Condorman (1981).
*edit - silly me, forgot about the Christopher Reeves Superman movies.

First superhero cartoon I saw was probably X-Men. First superhero film would probably be the 1978 Superman or the 1966 Batman film.

First cartoon would be Batman TAS, first movie was technically Batman Returns but I was too little to actually remember it, the first I can remember watching would be one of the Christopher Reeve Superman movies on TV.
