So I was sitting here watching Season 1 of Welcome Back Kotter, and it got me thinking, if I had to pick one decade that had the best programming, I think I would go with the 70's. Think about it... shows like:

Welcome Back Kotter
All in the Family
Mary Tyler Moore
Newhart
Good Things
The Jeffersons
Soap
Taxi
Diffrent Strokes
SNL
Happy Days
Laverne & Shirley
Mork & Mindy
MASH
WKRP in Cincinatti
Three's Company
Sanford & Son

I could keep listing shows, but I think you get my drift..... So what was your favorite decade for TV?

For me it was the 80s.

Cartoons were better and from September to January, my 49ers kicked ass.

Now cartoons suck and the 49ers could get beat by a team comprised of invisible players.

Sort of ironic considering your name and avatar. :D
:lol True, but LOST, Arrested Development, Battlestar, Journeyman, 24 and Friday Night Lights add up overall compared to just one or two memorable shows.

Don't forget pre-movie SpongeBob.

It had most of its meat during the 00s, but it began in '99.

90's had a lot of youthful sketch comedy.

Upright Citizens Brigade

SCTV

The Kids in the Hall

In Living Color

Mr. Show

The State

I just discovered A Bit of Fry and Laurie and that was 90's too. Nothing like the prosperity and peace of the Clinton years to really give absurdest comedy time to shine.

Also Simpsons and Northern Exposure. The 90's had a lock on comedy.

the eighties definitely

fucking Hill Street Blues
A-Team
Mc Gyver
Magnum P.I.
Star Trek: the next generation
Hokuto no Ken
City Hunter
Cheers guys..fucking CHEERS
BLACKADDER GUYS...BLACKADDER

and how can you forget Riptide, Knight rider, Manimal?? Atrocious, but guilty pleasures indeed

winrar

This one, duh. BSG, The Wire, The Shield, the bulk of Farscape and Futurama, Arrested Development, Band of Brothers, the first seasons of Friday Night Lights and Veronica Mars, Avatar, Home Movies, and Samurai Jack, etc. etc.

Just to reiterate: The Venture bros, Firefly, Love My Way, Both versions of The Office, Dexter, the new Doctor Who, Jekyll, Pushing daisies, hell even Terminator in all its cheesy glory.
Yes, this decade by far.

For cartoons, the 90s remain supreme. I mean, I totally can get that many of the shows that I loved during that period have aged horribly, and some are as lame as anything out today, but the good during that period far surpasses the good during any other period imo. Not to mention that even most of the bad shows had one advantage over most shows nowadays: Kickass music.

Truly deserves to shoot laserbeams from his eyes
90ies. This decade isn't over yet, perhaps we could have something truly horrible on its way, we just don't know.

That and I haven't gotten around to most if not all of the 00's shows mentioned on this thread.

80's :bow

Seriously though, the 90's deffinatly had some quality, but it just can't compete ith tthe non stop shit that came out in the 80's. I didn't thnk that kind of avalanche of great shows could be topped, but the 00's has deffinatly bested the 80's in dramas, with some good comedies sprinkled in here and there.

The 80's = unbeatable comedies and cartoons with great action/drama here and there.

The 00's = unbeatable dramas with some comedies here and there. No cartoons. They are horrible now for the most part

The 90's = A little bit of greatness of everything here and there, but overall a very inconsistant decade as far as quality is concerned.

Ring a Bell for me
Early 90s by far. On saturday mornings, I would spend HOURS in front of the TV.
