Silksong's been one of the most wanted games for at least 4-5 years now.

Even without the Chinese market, this will still do massive numbers.

This thing is costing 6.99 USD in my Steam regional prices.

I underestimated on that 200-300k CCU guess by a lot.

I want it to hit one million at least. These devs are set for life, and still not greedy, they could've easily charged $30.

97% overwhelming positive on Steam.

It's been very encouraging that they seem barely motivated by money at all.

One of the developers was even considering downsizing from a 2 bedroom to a 1 bedroom flat lol.

Do you mean 1m concurrent players across all platforms?

With a Steam CCU of 500k plus, I think it's safe to say total unit sales could be anywhere from 3m-5m already.

Yes. I think there is a significant userbase on NSW1/2 - it's what really propelled the first game into the huge success it was. Not sure how large on PlayStation and Xbox, but even just between Steam and Nintendo I am quite sure we are beyond 1 million CCUs and given how long the game is, how this is first weekend after release, etc, I think we may still see it hit 1 million on PC alone (including PC Game Pass)

That price point is hard to top for what you get

Industry in shambles over the value
Team Cherry is a small team with fewer 3 permanent members. Since Hollow Knight sold over 15 million copies, they had more than enough money to cover their living expenses + dev cost over the next 7 years and could also afford to price Silksong at $20.

It's not a model that can easily be replicated. It requires unique circumstances. A tiny team + a smash hit.

Not to sound dismissive on other devs, but it also takes making one hell of a game. HK is a Metroidvania and there's a billion of those and yet it became what it became.
