What would be a system seller for the PS6 (for you)

A From Soft souls game.
Directed by Miyazaki.
That's not a remake or remaster but a proper new game.
That's a traditional single player focused souls game and not an MP one like Neightreign or Duskbloods.
That's clearly labeled as a proper exclusive and not "first on PS6".

Maybe that. I can't picture any Sony first party dev making a system seller for me these days.

You'll be lucky if From makes another SP focused game, exclusive or not.

Even Elden Ring, the popularity of it is because of the MP.

Anything but this. The entire PS5 generation has been this archetype explored through different settings and window dressings. I don't know if we can take another generation of it.

MotorStorm: Monument Valley. A remake of the first one looking like this:

A Killzone 2 remake where Rico dies in the first two minutes of the intro and the weapons behave like in the first one would do as well.

Bloodborne Remake or a new single-player From Software exclusive.

If they get enough other great exclusives, I will probably pick one up a few years down the line. But buying one at launch, only a From game would hook me deep enough.

uncharted not by druckmann that is amazing.

If you get this reference make sure you have blood tests regularly.

Disc drive and backwards compatibility with PS5/PS4 would be a system seller for me - if it doesn't have these two things, no game will convince me to buy it 😅

If some new FF or DQ games got locked to exclusivity or Sony got their head out of their DEI cinematic arses and made good games again… maybe.

I don't see any of the above happening.

Days Gone made me pull the trigger on a PS4. And it's been since then I purchased a Sony Console.

Marvel Tokon & Wolverine has me wanting to get one, but the price raise is insane.

Not sure I can stomach that, after it launching $500. Think only something like a new exclusive Shenmue IV, Days Gone 2, or something equally cool would push me to get it. So far only Rise of the Ronin really interested me of their current exclusives.

The PS5 had the SSD which was nice. Don't care (much) about RT.
So no simple idea what the PS6 could offer to make it actually interesting and not just another small PS4 upgrade. The PS5 was already just a 4Pro2.
A PS4 and PS5 handheld should already have been made. 4 would have been perfect at the end of PS4 life and 5 should have launched together with the Pro. Just insane that Sony slept on the oppurtunity while Steamdeck sold okay and Nintendo merged incredibly successfully their handheld business with their failing console arm. The hw pieces are there to just be used, the PS Portal signaled some interest. Wake up.

Quantic Dream is MIA for quite some time and I am eager o see what they are cooking. Eclipse could be something but a license could also restrict them.
Something that matches Uncharted 2 would be nice. 3 and 4 did not really grab me equally with too much cinematic scenes.
Sony definitely should return to FPS.
And try another Allstar BR.
And another LBP Modnation Crash Team Racing.
And comission another Foamstars. This time with less flashy obnoxious presentation. It's boggling my mind that Nintendo can do these games sell millions and Sony and Square half arse it and never really try.
And allow some Indie studio to make a Wipeout game for them. Rethinking the never good item system. The Redout guys are probably most adequate, but don't know how to design tracks and controls.

Legend of Dragoon (sequel/prequel or remake)
A new Team Asobi game, possibly
genDESIGN's next game is already confirmed multiplatform, but I'd consider getting a physical PS6 version if there were enough games otherwise.

A new Motorstorm game, and another Uncharted game, ( a new Metal Gear game seems less likely as the years go by, not the same when MGS4 released, that game was a system seller for me...)

Any number of franchises that either Sony reaches back to and does justice for, like Twisted Metal, The Legend of Dragoon, and Colony Wars, or some new franchises that shows me they're turning the ship on what their priorities are.

Uncharted 5 (no female protagonist)

BloodBorne II

God of War Trilogy Remake

Red Dead Redemption 3

Metal Gear Solid 1 Remake

Gran Turismo 8

Xmen (GTA/Cyberpunk like)

The Witcher 4 marketing and bundle

A first party new high-budget medieval fantasy IP with zero woke agenda (I know it's unlikely as hell, but that shit would sell like crazy)

If the PS6 has a lineup like this, it's gonna sell like fucking crazy.

Final Fantasy VIII or X remake would do it
Hell a Parasite Eve one would do it too.
From their own IP's.... Uncharted: Drakes Fortune Remake.
Not certain on new IP's or actual Sequels

I don't think there's anything that would actually happen. Like Dragon Quest XII or Haunted Chocolatier being full exclusives for some reason, that would be about it. Nothing in Sony's first party library can really move me to spend $800+ on a new console at this point. Though I do think I'll gradually save up and get one for my son, he plays online on PS5 with his buddies quite a bit. But it won't be urgent.

With all the news about PS games no longer on PC, the looming PS6 updates and the ongoing discussions about PlayStations first party output..I wanted to ask two things?

1.What would be a system seller for you on the PS6? (This can be games, policies, software etc)

AND

2. When was the last time you felt PlayStation had something that could really moved the needle for you on selling consoles?

I have owned PS since after 360 so this isn't a console warring thing or anti-PlayStation. Not interested in console warring just general thoughts since the same topics seem to come up a lot online and on this forum.
The ability to install Windows.

PS3 Backwards Compatibility

A return to form like in the PS3-PS4 era of games, a banger after banger every 4-6 months like PS3 got from June 2008 to November 2013 and the PS4 from March 2015 to July 2020...

None as I don't plan to ever go back to console, the PS3 was my last console and sold it midway into it's life cycle.

They would need multiple games that are truly exclusive on it before I consider getting it like a mix of at least two Ratchet and Clank games , Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3, and other big budget future Final Fantasy remake games. And only if the price is reasonable too.

Fallout 5, Elder Scrolls VI, and GTA VI are already going to be multiplatform so I don't count those.

At this point, I'm not even sure.

PS has lost the visionary imagination they once embodied over time. Their creative ambitions have kinda plummeted and they seem perfectly comfortable with just coasting on the same reused templates.

As far as I'm concerned, their output has been reduced to a bunch of theatre kids nonsense with seemingly low focus priority on pushing gameplay boundaries or establishing individualistic and unique gameplay ideas.

Their PS6 line up has to be really mindblowingly inspirational and genuinely innovative to persuade me.

Being called a Playstation means its a system seller to me. I enjoy the ecosystem and exclusives; I've always been a PS first guy.
I dont really have system sellers persay anymore - since maybe being a teenager where i needed something to justify a purchase. That being said - TO ME, this generation has been pretty mid. Lets see if GTA can light a fire for me.

Metal Gear Solid with Kojima involved. Was the only the true console seller for me.

Wouldn't kill them to come out with a fresh idea either. PS5 was just full of a bunch of sequels to PS4 games. PS6 pipeline looks bleak.

I'll never buy a console for 1 game, but I suppose if Sony announced they now own Konami (Silent Hill), will have exclusive remakes of The Darkness 1 & 2, Condemned 1 & 2 plus a third new game, infamous remakes plus a new game, a new M.A.G, and maybe some other stuff I would then buy a PS6, but as you can tell, it would take pretty unrealistic amounts of effort.

System seller would be a new Uncharted or Infamous, Bloodborne remake 100% would shift consoles. The GoW Trilogy remake too will be a system seller.

Last system seller was the Demons Souls Remake. Sorry not Sorry its one of the most influential games of the last 20 years and still holds up, the remake is absolutely gorgeous so yeah system seller.
