What? Liberals are usually the ones hung up on and told to shut up by the right-wing media. Yeah, the right-wing media - the ones who dominate talk radio and have the highest ratings on television. I can't speak for everyone else here or elsewhere, but I personally did not see a problem with the talk show host clearly not being able to keep his cool, and also not giving the Reverend much of a chance to speak. I'm not saying this should be a new habit made by the left-wing, because the last thing we need are a bunch of left-wing versions of Sean Hannity. However, this is long overdue, and the fundamentalists trying to hijack the government on a constant basis need a taste of their own medicine every once and a while.
I'm sick and tired of seeing liberals on Fox News get insulted on a daily basis. That in itself is immoral and wrong, so in effect they contradict themselves daily. When I see a conservative on CNN or MSNBC, even if the hosts or other guests disagree, they're almost ALWAYS given a chance to make their case. Even if they are questioned, it isn't to the point where they are trying to intimidate them and make them feel like a loser. It's a lot more civil. That doesn't mean people never lose their temper on those networks, but there's a difference between someone that really is angry, and a network whose hosts
know they are going to yell at their guests like a dog that's down before the show even starts.
As he pointed out towards the end, the religious right always act like they can insult and intimidate others; they see no problem with putting their case out in the open as long as it is backed by what they think are decent moral values. The other side tries the same thing, but no -- they need more FACTS! Apparently a church's moral values hold more weight than true logic and reason in today's world, and this is what angered the host. It angers me too, and I can easily hear why he got so upset. That was most likely the best 19 minutes and 33 seconds I heard in my life.
I realize that liberals should not downgrade themselves to the level of bickering conservative talk show and news hosts demonstrate, but you can only take so much abuse. The fundies are out of control in this country, and sometimes you have to speak up to be heard. Especially when the people that are against you basically make a living trying to make you look like a moron for no real legit reasons whatsoever. Couple that with the fact that more Americans buy into that sleezy tactic than anything else, and it really should come as no surprise why the host lost his temper so many times during the interview.
