If it was simply items and shit, it'd be a pretty good response. You can always get more items. However, it's not about items, it's about saying getting used and then trying to fake an apology that you really never meant.

Hah, he's probably oogling a catgirl right now anyway. He's been latching onto female players in FFXI pretty pathetically since he started the game. He did it to a few of the female members of the LS.

It could be I dont think youre 'time' investment is important enough to warrant an apology. It could be that I dont think the FFXI gameworld is important enough to give a shit about.

The current GAF WoW guild did nothing but help me, and you know what, after all they did I still quit WoW. Do you see luvrboi in here asking for me to apologize?! No! Wanna know why?

i take it that's where IGN got it from in the DC versus PS2 video of old. i've mostly lurked HG since '97, and only started really posting for a brief period after i got tired of Dural's modcock over at DCTP, which was probably after the "WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT" era.

It's probably a combination of both.

Completely random:

I had two Cloudsongs on my two TOA-twinked characters. I can't see why this guy flipped out like he did-it was an easy item to get and wasn't ALL that good, to be honest.

Now if someone had hoarked a Celestius weapon or something, that would be different-but a Cloudsong? No big deal.
 
I used Seijuurou, my longtime alternate IRC nick, both for my stint as a stealth mod on snowboards, and for the duration of ezboards because I needed a global account.

Didn't you post under Hito normally though (on Snowboards)? Man, my memory is shoddy. I blame IRC for getting me used to Hitokage.

Pretty mediocre, really. The only thing that they really have going for is a minor casting speed bonus, which is a huge deal for caster classes.

I can understand the ill feelings as it does take a lot of effort to help others with those quests...I mean A LOT. I quit after getting help, which is bad (life was falling to shit and school was starting) but not as bad as getting help from one LS only to work for another. Dark never got on my bad side though and even then I only helped him out once or twice before he somehow managed to (in ~2 weeks) match my level =_=

Playing as a Mithra was fun though...loved joining random groups and dropping hints at being a guy...people where HONESTLY suprised when I said I had to take a leak :lol IT'S JUST A GAME PEOPLE.

edit: Yeah...tell him Xias says "Heya"

It would've been better if he had just flatout quit instead of pulling the shit he did. If you gotta quit because of priorities in life like school or work or even if you just don't feel like playing the game anymore, it's really no problem. Shit like that happens. It just burns me up to think that jackass used us and discarded us for his own personal gain. It's worse because I thought he was a friend and I've known him online for years. Getting used like that is shitty whether it's in a game world or not.

As much as i hate FFXI and all the other mmo scams i have to agree with shouta here....I have seen my friend absolutely struggle trying to help his "friends" level up just so they can use him for some high level quest. I mean it takes hours and hours of pure mind numbing work. Now when you finally go through all that only to have the guy ditch you for some other guild with chicks...I would be pissed too.

I don't know Shouta... I think the current situations are analgous. The GAF guild lost a lot of players due to slow pace (me,paul777,Korranator), getting tired of the game (MAF,Drinky,Tre), and just plain dissappearing (tons of people), among other reasons. Yet, they are a guild that has 20-30 people online every night, and will be ready to tackle Molten Core soon (requires 30-40 people to run through the first time). Have they been mad at the people who left em? Not really... they understand where everyone's coming from and why they did what they did.

FFXI from what I remember doesn't require that many people to do something in the end-game.

funny story my friend attended and FFXI wedding they all went to some fruity looking place that they thought looked amazing, I asked him about it :

me: wow so chicks do play these games?

buddy: no they are two guys

me: their gay?

buddy: no no one of them just has a female character, they just became good friends and now just wanna be known as a married couple In game.

FFXI is not a game IMO. Hell none of the MMO games seem to be played for "fun".

just weak willed ppl seem to like the thought of their STATS inceasing by doing the same thing OVER AND OVER AGAIN.
 
FFXI was fun for the trial period and I'd probably still play it if I could keep my character even if I took a few months off but having beef in/over a MMORPG? O_o

The situations aren't analogous. He used us to get situated in level then went on and did other shit with other people while refusing to do stuff with us. In your situation, I'm assuming you got tired of the lolly-gagging and lack of activity. You left because the situation in the guild wasn't good and you were doing nothing with your game time. That's an issue caused by the guild and it's certainly understandable. I've had quite a few folks that have done that or are doing it now that are still a part of the guild. The difference here is that we wanted to do stuff with him and he refused us while doing stuff the same material with other people. It wasn't because we were inactive in regards to events. If we were inactive, I'd totally understand but we were on the verge of doing stuff and he flatout refused to do things with us.

As for FFXI endgame events, it takes anywhere from 6-64 people to do stuff.

More like he ate all my hamster food, drank all my hamster beer, used my hamster internet connection, and then when I ask him to come help clean the hamster wheel, he jumps the hamster ship to another hamster wheel. :lol

Really though, running with another circle of folks is not much of an issue with me. Kintaro ran with another LS for quite awhile as is SpiderJerusalem. Quite a few folks from the guild run with other people as well. It's the refusal to do shit with us and then turning around and doing it with other people when we helped him that makes me mad.

I actually feel a little guilty about leaving FFXI. :) I mean, when I started playing my second time someone gave me a ton of money (the majority of which I never spent, I'm not sure if it would still be there if they resurrected my character) and I finally got leveled up into the 30-realm, but by that point most of the GAF LS was way far ahead in my level so I could never do anything with them anyway - and I'm far too humble then to ask uber-high level people to help me level anyway.

Geez, I wish Square would wise up and make the game more solo friendly, because i love the feel and atmosphere of the game, but geez, leveling is such a damn hellish experience.

My cousin gave you that extra money. He had intended on quitting (and thus gave his money away) but ended up coming back again about two weeks later. He never asked for the money back though. Now he's richer than I am :lol

Well, I don't feel THAT guilty, after all I was leveling a white mage at the time too, but did anyone ever scramble to my aid and say "we're going to level you because we need you dammit" - no, they all just laughed that I'd been playing since the PC launch and Darkshire was already higher level than me within a month of him starting in on the PS2 version. :D
