Whatever happened to Darkshire?

That would've been the case but he backstabbed me and the LS which is made up of GAF members (the few of us anyway) and etc.

When the game was released for the PS2, Darkshire started with us on the server. We helped him getting adjusted to the game and doing lesser things (Subjobs and rank stuff for example). Everything was fine for quite awhile.

When he hit 50, I pushed to get his stuff done for 60 and then on so that the LS could do post-60 game content as a group rather than doing it with pick-up groups. So I did push to get his junk done, Artifact armor, Genkai 2, and a few misc things. We had plannedg to do shit as a group and was counting on Darkshire to back us up as our mage support (since we lacked a white mage at the time). However, when we approached him about doing this stuff, he flat-out refused us citing reasons such as "I don't want to die and lose XP" to not do this stuff. Lame excuse aside, I wouldn't normally mind this. People have their varying reasons for not wanting to do stuff. The kicker is though, around this time Darkshire joined an end-game LS and was constantly doing stuff with them including the activities he said he didn't want to do with us. This happened again when we approached him to help with Zilart Missions from the Zilart Expansion pack. We asked him and he refused again and of course he did it with others.

So this kept happening until a couple of months later, he found out that all of us were pissed off at him for using us to get a springboard to do shit with other people. He comes into the LS saying he didn't know we were mad at him and that we should've said he was being a jackass and etc trying to apologize to us and making amends. He never actually was sincere about his apology either. We never saw him on the LS again and he never bothered listening or asking us if there was anything we needed help because of lack of people. It's basically been this way since. I've had him blacklisted since then and I'm still mad at him. I've known him since I started here on GAF and to get backstabbed by someone you thought was a friend leaves some nasty scars
:lol

Specifically? I think it was the "nasty scars" after listening to the weak dramatics. But the entire scenario simply sounds like someone who has too much invested into a videogame and blew things out of proportion. I suppose it would take a fellow MMORPG'er to sympathize.

No, what he explains happens a lot at the end game in MMOs. People outgrow guilds. It's common and nothing to go all nuts over.

Well, I gotta agree the last line is cheesy. I needed some flair. :lol

Really though, you can apply the situation to anything you do in real life. If you planned a road trip vacation with a friend for a few months and then he says he doesn't want to do it a week before you go but he ends up doing with the trip with someone else leaving you behind, you'd be mad no? People saying "It's just a videogame" are just using the fact that it's done within the confines of a virtual world to dismiss anything that happens in it despite the relationship dynamics being very real. If this had happened in real life, I'd highly doubt anyone would be saying it's a trivial matter.

This isn't the same situation as someone outgrowing a guild however. I seriously hope you understand what the difference is with all the MMOs you play.

Yeah, there's some definite overreaction going on.

Overdramatization? Sure. Overreaction? I don't personally think so. The relationship and dealings between me and him are what are really counts, not the game. I helped him and I expected to get help from him for game content. Rather than getting help, I got flatout denied and was basically used for his own personal gain. If it had been a faceless denizen of the MMO kind, it wouldn't bother me as much but it was Darkshire. He was someone I thought I could count on and have been friends (or so I thought) for years now. If your best friend in real life did something along the lines of this but in a face to face situation, you'd be quite pissed too.

Sounds more like he ditched the GAF linkshell to join up with a few that had chicks in 'em.

It's his prerogative!

It's sad but you're probably right.

You finally realise the real problem. You couldn't pull enough chicks into the LS.

It's not as bad as one may infer, AFAIK... just that Frag in his DAOC time hooked up with a girl who also played DAOC.

If you were such good friends with him, then how come it's "we" that confonts him? How come he found out through someone else that "you guys" were upset with him? I mean, does a friendship for you require very little interaction?

Really, if I actually believed that you two were good friends, then I'd better understand your anxiety over what happened. But I think you're just upset in general and the explanation, in order to be reasonable, needs you to sell a broken heart to us.

Actually, we've had a fair amount of girls in the linkshell regularly. I think the most we've had hanging out was 5 and there's usually 1-2 hanging out. If we count Spider as female, we always have one with the pearl on. :lol

That's not nearly enough!

Wait, did Frag meet Miss Frag in an MMORPG? Story time, Hito (or Frag, if he reads this)!

We did play on the same server together and I quit and deleted my Hibernia characters on one server so I could play with her later on after we had met. It would be pretty impossible, in Dark Age of Camelot, for players of one realm to "meet" another player from another realm, to be honest.

I used we because the situation involved more than just me. I had the most stake in it though since I knew Darkshire prior to FFXI which is why I'm the only one to ever talk about it within our group. We interacted regularly when he was in the linkshell but stopped talking after he started with the other people. I actually stopped messaging him regularly after the second refusal because I was mad at him.

As for your question at the end of your first paragraph, that's a whole other subject we could get into.

I understand what you're thinking though. However, my answer would be too long winded and would tie in into what you asked me about friendship and I really don't have the time to get into that. Finals are next week and I really shouldn't even be posting because I have homework to do but oh well.

Boooooring!

I can just imagine you saying that like in stereotypical valley girl tone that's used in teen movies. :lol

It's a shame I didn't know of Fraps when he tried to shoot that apology off on us otherwise I would've taken pictures of what he said.
I don't follow, but my post wasn't an apology if that's what you're saying.

Nope, I wanted to get it to show how unapologetic and fake it was. Why would I need an apology from you? You didn't do anything wrong except state your opinion

So what are the chances darkshire will return and post on GAF again?
