What's left for the GCN?

PS2 has some stellar titles coming out this year: FFXII, Okami, Children of Mana, Valkyrie Profile 2...

What's in-line for the GCN gamer? One measly (but stellar) title: Twilight Princess. Wouldn't it be nice if Nintendo released those obscure titles that never made western shores? I'm speaking of course Home Land, Nintendo Puzzle Collection, and Giftpia.

Nintendo & Microsoft: "ABANDON SHIP!"

I agree that they should bring over Puzzle Collection pronto. Seems like a no-brainer: hardly any work, an attractive title, and useful to bolster a lacklustre (heck, a practically non-existant) line-up. Giftpia and Home Land may be more problematic (esp. the latter).

Odama is shaping up nicely, as I've said elsewhere. May be one of the coming surprise hits.

I'm guessing Splinter Cell: Double Agent might make it too.

Zelda:TP will be awesome though.

Giftpia is coming to Europe :) Furthermore Odama, Chibi Robo, Kirby and Ye Olde Sidescroller (if it still excists) look pretty promising if you ask me.

Man, I remember when I was so looking forward to Odama. Battalion Wars, Geist, etc. have beaten the anticipation out of me for these smaller Nintendo games.

Just keep pumping out DS stuff :)

While the DS is awesome, it's pretty evident that Nintendos focus went away from GC(except for zelda) when the DS was introduced.

Two big platforms are difficult enough to keep the quality coming in a steady flow. 3 is insanity. Thankfully, Squeenix contributed a lot to the GBA latley. And is going strong on the DS.

Chibi Robo, Odama, Harvest Moon: Magical Melody, Kirby New GC adventure, Naruto Games, Sonic Riders, Megaman X Collection and Obviously Zelda are on my must buy list, hopefully there's some more surprises for the GC until revolution comes out.

Really? It's not that old play.com thing that went around last year?

Like Baten Kaitos II coming to the western countries.

Totally forgot about that, it's a must buy for me if it gets localized, i loved the first and i'm totally up for a second part.
I'm still hoping they release Giftpia stateside. One can only hope.

I keep trying to figure out what the last game that came out that interested me for the Cube was. That'll be "what's left" for me. Not a fan of Zelda, and nothing else exciting seems to be coming out.

That said, the system's been pretty good to me and there is some stuff I haven't tried yet. I'll probably pick up some stuff as it starts to hit real bargain bin prices (i.e: Luigi's Mansion for $10 or less... preferably less).

heh, Zelda is the only "last gen" game im interested in. Thats the only reason GC is still sitting next to my 360.

PS2, Xbox = game over. Packed both away, nothing worth buying imo

Zelda, obviously. That alone will make this a nice year for the system.

I'm also looking forward to Baten Kaitos II, and both Odama and Chibi-Robo look pretty damned cool. Harvest Moon: Magical Melody, also, looks pretty neat, too, which I don't usually say about HM games.

But yeah, I still have a faint hope for a few more surprises for the Gamecube, and top at that list is Giftpia and Homeland, two RPGs that appeal to me immensely. Hey, Nintendo's gotta release some Gamecube stuff in Q2 and Q3 before the Revolution comes out... I'm desperately hoping these two games make it.

Of course Zelda.

I just got Fire Emblem and am prolly gonna start tomorrow(gotta beat ryu ga gotoku first)

I am also looking into getting Batallion wars. Anyone played it? any opinions? It looks like a game that would appeal to me.

You know, I'm looking forward to Zelda as much as the next man but I still can't help but think they made a terrible mistake missing Xmas. That was Zelda's time to dominate.

I agree with you. It's evident that something wasn't right with Zelda:TP, or it should have been released around x-mas. I simply think EAD ran out of time, and that had to delay because of that. Of course, the official explannation was to add incredible new elements, and I hope to see that since I have waited so long long long loooong for this game.

The only thing left for GCN is people to realize how mediocre of a console it was and move on to greener pastures.

The console itself wasn't mediocre. The support was.

If the Gamecube was a slut, it would have been killed by its pimp (Wayne Brady style) years ago.

Outside of Zelda, there is nothing. Odama? Please. Maybe we'll get Mario Pilates.

So true, the console is actually really nice, good loading times, great graphics, 480p support (before Nintendo pulled the plug). Sucks that there were so few third-party exclusives that took advantage of it.

yep just look at RE4 and you realize what great potential it really had.

I would strongly disagree that it's mediocre. I have more than enough A and B level titles for me to consider the Gamecube very successful and very strong, even if it doesn't have as many as the PS2.

It's alright to be wrong, you're grading on a curve.

Actually, I'm not wrong. The console has a lot of high quality, fun games. That makes it a worthwhile (and successful, software-wise) console, not a mediocre one. But thanks for playing.

I agree.

The Crow will play the Zelda. I bet he comes out as a big fan of the game if the big N polish is there.

He's stated numerous times that he likes Zelda games. He even sorta ranked them once.

The fun part about new elements are that when making a game, anything you create is new!

This is pretty much the defining statement of the Cube. Everyone's, including Nintendo's, support was mediocre. When I think of the cube, what stands out? Metroid Prime, Resident Evil 4, and Wind Waker. Everything else was substantially below par, but those three games show clearly that when people actually want to get shit done the system doesn't disappoint.

Zelda
Kirby Adventure
Chibi Robo
Harvest Moon: Magical Melody
Baten Kaitos 2
Splinter Cell 4: Double Agent
Giftpia

not bad for a 'dead' system.... :)

Zelda: Twilight Princess
Baten Kaitos 2

Older titles i missed:

Pikmin 1, 2
Resident Evil 2, 3, 4
Star Wars: Rogue Leader Rogue Squadron 2
Eternal Darkness: SoR

I think that's it for the NGC Generations for me.

Perhaps the new Mario Kart Arcade might be ported to the GC later this year, along with Konga 3 and Nintendo Puzzle Collection? one can only hope .

If nothing else, you must play Pikmin 2 and Resident Evil 4. Classics right there.

Why do most assume that Twilight Princess will be stellar? A lot of were greatly disappointed by TWW, but it seems to be accepted as a given that TP will be phenomenal. Are you just judging it by the art style, by press releases, or what?
