What's the absolute worst game you paid money for in the 7th generation?

Because my friends were playing it and I was curious what the fuss was about. My god, it's absolute dogshit. A souless, boring, linear game with no redeeming qualities.

Fuck this game especially after 07-08 were actually decent and had pretty cool controls.

Its like the cover is mocking me.

Well, if we're counting the DS, my choice is unquestionably Animal Crossing.

The last time I would ever let good word of mouth solely determine what I buy without looking it up on my part. There is absolutely nothing in AC that would entice me to carry on playing and I am positively angry that I paid £30 for it only to conveniently have lost the receipt on the way home. Trading it in could do little to wash away that feeling of shame as I only got less than a tenner for it in return.

For me it was The Last of Us.

I know most people seem to love the game, but I just.. didn't. I thought it was fundamentally broken from a gameplay standpoint, and honestly the story bored me.

Definitely Lost Planet 2. Never has a game failed on so many levels for making things interesting or fun.

Diablo 3

I didn't think the gameplay was anything special, but fundamentally broken?

C.O.R.E. for the DS, was expecting a nice throwback to Quake days in portable form,

it technically a marvel but gameplay wise , it's badly designed and you just dont get any feed back and the levels are uninspired.

I'm sorry GAF, I tried to like it. Bought it full price, could never get beyond the first few hours without getting fed up with how poorly it treats new players to the series.

I don't buy a lot of bad games, I wait for reviews, which make this one hurt as it was so highly reviewed. Its not a bad game, I just can't get into far enough to enjoy myself.

You didnt like Oblivion? Why couldnt you get those first few hours?

For some reason, I never got as deep into Skyrim as I did in Oblivion (not to say Skyrim didnt get 98 hours of my time ;) )

Assassin's Creed 1 collectors edition, my first and last collectors edition.

RE6 is up there too.

I'm sure I bought worse but those two are the first that come to mind.

$2.49 on steam

hmmm

It really isn't worth it for anything else except enjoying how painful it is.

I should point out, there is a spiritual sequel called Blades of Time. I think I might own that one as well but I've never played it. Apparently it wasn't quite as completely shit but still very terrible.

Hitman Absolution. Never before have I played a game that was so fundamentally broken that there is no way to fix it without entirely doing over the game.

o_o wait whut?

I loved rage, one of the only modern day shooters I felt worthy of completing. Yeah I have no clue what the story was about, it was forgettable, but the AI or at least fighting the enemies was amazing and unparalleled in any other fps to date.

Here and there I see a lot of hate for Rage, but besides bad story and very buggy start the game was a lot of fun.

The game is really short for the type of shooter it is, and the story is left unresolved in one of the worst possible ways. It doesn't really end on a cliffhanger or anything- you just finish the final battle (which does not feel like a final battle at all), and then a bad cinematic plays, and then the credits.

Mechanically it is great. But it's really a half finished game and it shows.

full disclosure- I've sunk over 500 hours in less than a year into ACNL

if Wild World was even the worst DS game you played last gen, sounds like you had smooth sailing

I'm probably spoiled by missing a lot of bad games but also I haven't bought a lot of games for 7th generation (I got my PS3 and xbox 360 very late in the game) but I'd have to say for me it was probably Bioshock Infinite. It was kind of dull gameplay with a really cool twist at the end (which made up for the gameplay honestly but only cause the game was pretty short). And it made me glad it was short which is not a good thing, games I like I tend to prefer go on a while and I'm disappointed if they are short.

The original Bioshock (which I played cause it came with Infinite) was a lot more immersive in story while you played and to me had a much more immersive environment (Though creepy. Infinite was kind of a relief that it was more cheerful feeling).

I ended up trading it in to help pay for GTA V.... totally worth the trade (and in hindsight very worth the trade since I got Infinite through plus though I doubt I'll play it again anyways).

Absolutely broken piece of shit game. Some really good, rare moments mixed with a maelstrom of utter shit. Game crashing bugs in so many areas, some terrible graphics at times (though for an early Wii game I guess it was alright), horrible AI and so many glitches/bugs/sequence problems it's unreal. Plus a terrible ending that was near impossible to understand what you were supposed to do, severe frame rate issues and some truly awful UI/menu design.

Homefront and Brink.
That was a dark time for me, I bought Homefront, Brink and LA Noire in a 3 month period (all on day one) and none were good.
Brink was ok, but hated the other two

Not only did i waste my money it's my biggest disappointment of last generation. I have absolutely 0 faith in 343 and have no interest in any more Halo games if they are made by them. I can't support a team that released a button pushing simulator and tried to pass it off as Halo.

Other than that i guess Gears 3. I mean, i got the big statue edition on clearance for under $60 so i can't say it was a complete waste of money because i do dig the statue but the game was hot garbage.

I didn't like the balancing in the career mode. In "Easy" it is extremely easy and in "Normal" very tough.

I just bought it two years ago for eight Euro because I was curious about the game.

SMGDH some of these responses are amazing-I wish I could say 'insert 85 or better on metacritic game title' was the WORST game I paid for

This piece of shit far surpassed everything for me:
following up on 2 of the most fun couch co-op games I played in the 7th gen it was a kick in the balls for fans

I'd say Castlevania: Lords of Shadow and Assassin's Creed 4. Not that they're particularly terrible games, just that I usually only buy great games. I was particularly disappointed in Castlevania as I usually love Castlevanias AND character action games, and Lords of Shadow was very disappointing on both fronts.

These are almost the only games I traded-in in recent years.
