What's the best wireless Xbox controller?

Actually the Pelican wireless controller for XBOX isn't that bad. Although, no wireless controller for the XBOX has the communications port on the controller rather a base station so LIVE play is a hassle.

Has anybody tried the Hip Gear wireless for Xbox? I was actually pleasently surprised by the build quality of its corded cousin and was curious about it.

i got the logitech wireless precision. 2nd edition i think. it is pretty good.
before that i tried the hipgear and intec mini wireless ones. they suck, stay the hell away.

The Pelican is great. I like it better than the Logitech. The dimensions are almost identical to the Controller S (with the addition of the battery bay underneath), and it has extra triggers to replace the B/W button, although they are a bit akwardly placed.

Hipgear has a Bluetooth-enabled controller coming with a built-in headset port. I think its out this month. But it's $99.

Does anyone know if the headset works with the wireless controllers?

Yes, but it defeates the point of being wireless since with the standard one needs to be plugged into the console. Last week though they came out with a good wireless headset (Logitech I believe?). My friends all swear by the Logitech wireless controller, but it felt loose to me.

Is it possible to get the Logitech one for not a billion dollars? It was ridiculously expensive last time I checked ($70 range).

What happened to the wireless PS2 controller DarienA was gushing about?

i've tried the logitech xbox wireless controller.. it's just OK - the analog sticks feel very PS2-ish (even looser, actually) and the response on the analog action buttons is crappy - if you press lightly it won't register, at least from the distance i was playing from (15 feet).

it is quite comfortable though.

There are two kinds-the large one, which is $70, and the small one, which is $30-50.

The Logitech for Xbox is not that good actually, not like the amazing PS2 one anyhow.

I second this. THe analogue is too sensitive and the buttons won't register if you tap them too fast (which makes playing games like shooters and MVC2 near-impossible)

Hopefully Xenon will correct all this with wireless right out of the box as well as wireless headsets. Microsoft, Im looking at you, it needs to happen. In fact, Nintendo and Sony Im looking at you as well. Wires suck, they get tangled up while you are playing, especially if headsets or multiple controllers become involved.

If we can push 20 catrillion polygons a second you can at least make it less of a hassle to play these awesome looking games.

I just replaced one of the older $70 versions of the Logitech Xbox controller with the smaller Logitech Precision for $50. I agree that the X-Y/B-A buttons are a little weird in that you have to press them a bit harder than most other controllers to get them to register, but I got used to it pretty quickly. Granted, I wouldn't want to use it with a fighting game, but for wireless it seems to be the best thing out there.

By the way, it works fine with the Logitech Wireless Headset, which I really like. It's tiny, lightweight, rechargeable, and has good voice quality. It's not perfect (a bearable amount of background clicks), and at $70 it's no bargain, but being completely cord-free while playing Halo2 is worth it to me.

Picked myself up a cordless precision along with Halo 2 during launch day. Like everyone sez, you'll definitely hav to press the buttons harder to register inputs, but i personally find the analog sticks to be just as good as Microsoft's. Grip iz great too.

I've been using Freebird for over a year. Works like a charm. I noticed there's also a crystal wireless controller out in the UK as well from another company, but I can't remember name at the moment.

+1 Logitech Xbox Controller (+1000 for the PS2 one) ...very minor issues ( looseness of the analog sticks, etc), but the quality and response more than make up for it.

I've Heard rave reviews for their wireless Headset as well, but I still can't stomach an $80 headset to go along with my $40 controller...I'll break down eventually and get it.
