What's the most expensive thing you've ever lost

Damn me...

I bought this 200$ flash mp3 player.

Loved it to death! It played for 20 hours, was compatible with all audio types, and was small as hell.

Maybe it was TOO small...the other day I went out after work and I just lost it! I found my headphones, but at the jack where the mp3 player would be, there was nothing.

Obviously, I searched to no avail...the thing was too freakin small for me to barely see!

I'm sure other people have lost things more expensive?

my scooter got nicked and ruined by a little bastard punk kid, that cost me 800 bucks.

The highest priced thing I can think of right now is a watch that i lost a little while ago (but was later refound).

...it's kinda depressing to think that's the most I've lost though. Either I'm very good with holding onto things (not likely) or I don't really have anything too expensive to lose.

Probably a 200 dollar radar detector out of my car. It was my fault, it was a hot summer night, and I left the passenger window open.

My original GBA with about six games, a case, a light, and a battery charger (not lost, but stolen). I was so god damned mad.

My nephew. Boy was THAT embarrassing.

Luckily, I was able to replace him with one that looked just like him.

My virginity. I probably could've sold it for like $20 on ebay and there I go and give it away for free!

Someone stole my iPod last year.. and years before that, an LA Dodgers fitted hat that was autographed by Orel Hershiser (still makes me sad to this day).

$300 pair of sunglasses :(

There is nothing in this world that is harder to keep track of then sunglasses, umbrellas, and keys. Maybe the TV remote, although it usually never leaves one room.

I had a $500 cd player stolen from my car. Other than than i would have to say my snes and games that got stolen the same day.

As far a centimental value I had my schwinn Predator get stolen in middle school. I had three locks on it and they cut through all of them. It was only worth about $350 but I loved that bike.

I lost my iPod Shuffle, but I recieved as a gift when I worked for Apple so it wasn't that big of a deal. My car got stolen, so I guess that kind of counts. I got it back though.

I put my Creative Zen Jukebox down while I chatted with my wife on our stairwell and forget to pick it up. 10 minutes later it was gone. :(

Heh, material wise, I guess my bike. It wasn't worth too much anyways, maybe $100 or so. I did get my semi new Nike shoes stolen back in grade 7 or so while I left them in the change room while I went swimming. Gotta love these poor neighbourhoods.

The X-Men #1 (1963) VG condition

Only worth a couple thousand.

Thanks for reminding me.

Hard to put a value on it, but the first and only time I had a hard drive crash about 14 years ago was like losing a limb, and that was only a 120MB drive. Thank goodness it's so cheap to go with a RAID 5 or similar backup setup nowadays.

Yep :( I used to little song-ish like things on the PC in the early days of sound cards and lost hundreds of songs due to a crash. Of all of life's petty losses, that is the only one I'd consider to be traumatic. Bring on the age of huge SS mediums please.

My fiance. I essentially lost $5K when a engagement ring turned even more useless.

I also "lost" my GBA with my copy of Phantasy Star Collection (and many many hours) when I (haha!) put it in my trash can at work as a "joke". Haha I am so funny! Look! It's in the trash! Oops. Forgot to take it out. Now it's in a landfill.

CabbageRed: Yeah, I feel your pain, man. I was doing .mod and .xm tracking back then, too, and I lost everything. A lot of my VGA and ANSI files got wiped, and too many letters to my ex-GF, etc. bit the bullet, too. Not to mention all the customizing I did to my DOS OS. Ugh. Bad memories.

Oh, another one that can't be measured in dollars: a couple years ago, both of my PS2 memory cards got erased by the PSUG Viewtiful Joe 2 demo. Hundreds upon hundreds of hours lost on many, many games. Burns me to think about to this very day. I was so mad/crushed that I stopped playing PS2 games for almost 6-8 months after that happened, and when I wrote to Sony and Capcom about it, I never got a response aside from a generic courtesy reply. Not that they could've done anything to ever make up for it, but I would have expected someone on their end to understand how brutal a blow that was to everyone it happened to. :(

Dude, I know I shouldn't be laughing because that's painful and all, but...

:lol :lol :lol

I can't really think of anything expensive that I've lost. I always end up finding it if I've misplaced something. Almost lost my Oakley's once by resting them on the Recycling Bin at home and then forgetting to pick them up. Didn't have the shades for about 36 hours - that sucked.

Some guys broke into my apartment a couple years ago while I was in the shower, and managed to snag my PS2 (with GTA: Vice City inside.), my laptop case, which at the time had no laptop in it, and my cell phone. More than anything I was pissed that I had my memory card in that PS2, with my FFX and GTA Vice City saves. It was pretty crappy. The phone turned up with the simcard missing 3 weeks later in the Cingular store.

when i was in 8th grade, i bought this jacket from gap with pockets inside the lining so you can put in your cd player and listen to it. so i wore it for a day and decided i didnt like it and it was too small. So i got my mom to return only to realize that i left my cd player in the pocket. That sucked considering how chunky cd players were back then

I (well, technically, it was my brother's damn fault) lost my Dreamcast and about 5 games. That's like around $350

A few years back, I had stolen from me one of those portable CD packs that houses 100 CD's... full of asskickedness and rare stuff. $1200-1500 value and it still hurts.

Edit- My brain is melting from the change in the way posts look. It's like I've forgotten how to read.

I lent my launch JPN N64 to a friend before I went overseas for a few months. He had moved while I was away and I lost contact.

My glasses were $350 and I can't find them anywhere. I tried going back to contacts but it takes me like 2 hours to get them in. Oh well, $350 less in my pocket and slightly blind.
