What's yer New Year's Resolution (for gaming)?

Mine:

1) Stop buying junk i have no time for (Sega Saturn, Atari)
2) See the ending to each half-finished game in my pile

Saying no to backloging games.
Stop reading game reviews altogether.
Putting alot more forum idiots on my ignore list(wannabe art majors and sales chart whores.)

Cut back on playing them, only play something if it's really gripping and I'm really enjoying it. Don't play for the sake of playing games.

1. Sell games from my collection for NES/SNES/N64/GEN/DC/PS1/NGPC/ETC...

2. Only buy stuff I know I will actually play, cutting my costs dramatically.

Actually, I have a more specific one. If I wasn't interested in it when it came out, then there's no reason why I ought to be interested now. Life's too short, and good games are coming out all the time. Might as well support the games I want to play now. Examples of this will be buying Valkyrie Profile: Silmeria and Suikoden V right off the bat, but turning a blind eye to older games I had been meaning to check out until now, like the Phantasy Star and Star Ocean series. If it came out before the beginning of 2006, I'm not even going to worry about it.

And relating to that:

1) If I can't find it new, from a retailer, then it's a lost cause
2) If the price drops to $30, that's just fine and I'll buy it rather than waiting for it to hit the gutter

Starting Jan 1, I'm going to keep a list of the games that I have beaten for the year. On a similar note I want to try and get through maybe at least 50% of my last game that I bought before buying another. And the last resolution is to buy a 32'' Sharp Aquos just in time for the PS3(already have 360) :D .

I may need to eat a lot of black eye peas tomorrow for the last one there :lol :lol . But it will happen.

-Finish up DQ8, RE4 and Phantom Dust in the next few weeks, then sell my PS2 and Xbox.
-Get an Xbox 360
-Get an HDTV
-Get a PS2 Slim when they come down to $99, along with a portable screen
-Get a PS3
-Be especially judicious about what games I buy, so that I can afford this stuff
-Catch up on some PS1/N64 stuff while I'm without PS2/Xbox, and clear my GBA backlog

-Quit jumping at every fucking "deal" I see. (spent $1000 on NEW games last year)
-Hold a contest to make up the Stubbs the Zombie pimping since the game sucked.
-Waste thousands on new hardware. Huzzah!

Cutting back on my gameplay. Stop buying so many games and keep it to 1 game every 2 months or so. Keep kicking ass on Live and so on. Thats about it. Possibly sell my PSP.

MY RESOLUTION
Other than Zelda and PS2 bargain bin, I will buy only Nintendo DS titles.

Bill Gates himself would go bankrupt buying all the PS2 bargain bin titles, especially once PS3 hits..

- No more of this "buying four games in one day" business.
- Keep up my bargain hunting, regardless of the fact that I could buy everything I want at full price with less effort exerted.
- Finish all of my current gen games before I get my first next gen console (currently 36 in the backlog).
- Sell my non-essential titles, which are mostly Xbox versions of multiformat games.

1. Try to play through NES/SNES/Genesis RPGs I've never played or either started and never finished.
2. Buy a Nintendo Revolution.
3. Buy a redesigned Nintendo DS.

Every game I buy for the 360, I will beat.

This became a huge problem with the Xbox because I have like 40 games and about 10-15 of them are beaten.

Finish games before I buy another one.

Second this 100% but it is difficult sometimes. This year I want to finish the following games:

God of War
Ninja Gaiden
Resident Evil 4
Jade Empire
Fable
Dragon Quest 8
Wanda and the Colossus
Metal Gear Solid 3

...before I get another game/console.

Don't buy 4 RPG's when you're not even close to finishing the first one.

word to that.
/glances at the stack of KH2, DQ8, Suiko Tactics, and magna carta sitting next to his ps2 covered in dust since he picked up FFIV...

I resolve to NOT finish games if drawn away by better games. There's nothing wrong at all with letting the cream rise to the surface.

I resolve not to buy games for > $50.

I resolve not to buy portable games for > $35.

Imports excepted, of course.

- Only buy games I will spend reasonable time with(being genuily interested in at the time of buying)

- Become more social outside gaming/computer use

- finish my backlog of current gen games before buying a next-gen console.

that means 23 PS2 games and 4 Gamecube ones. ( ouch)

Sell off my ps2 and xbox and await the ps3. One console future for me (especially with next gen prices).

- Buy less videogaming stuff generally, get out and have more of a life.
- Do not be an early adopter, to anything.
- Greet PS3 hype with extreme skepticism. I won't believe magically-good things about it until I play it for myself.
- Utilise said hype when it *does* come out though, buy two or three of them and make a hefty profit. Other fucks are gonna do it, so I might as well do it too.

I'm going to try to just buy games that I'll actually get around to playing. With all the clearances that stores run I could open my own gamestop franchise with the number of games I have in plastic.

In line with alot of people's.

- Buy less games, actually finish the games I buy.
- Try to master the online games I buy to be more competitive online.
- Buy older, clearance games to save money. Even though a game is a year or 2 old doesn't make it bad.

That is about it.

Oh, and pre-order the PS3 the day the pre-orders start.

Start playing games again. I've been really busy for the past few months, and I haven't really been playing games at all.

Now that I'm on holidays, I started playing again a bit, I started a new game of Chrono Trigger the other day and it reminded me why I love gaming so much. So I'm going to beat that, I might possibly pick up a PS2 and play through a backlog of PS1 RPGs (incl. Chrono Cross) that I never got to play since I've been a Nintendo owner all my life. I dunno.... there's just so much stuff I've been missing out on that I want to play (lots of GC releases that I missed out on too like VJ and RE4), I'm going to make time for it...

There's nothing solid for 2006, but:

1. Continue support for the PSP, though the relatively slow pace for game procurement (only 4 PSP games in 2005!) should be maintained.

2. Get an Xbox 360 in the first quarter of this calendar year?

3. Avoid the PlayStation 3. Getting that looks more like my 2007 resolution if I don't need a computer first.

4. Get Ace Combat Zero sometime in 2006.

Just bought Suikoden IV + guide, which I'm counting as my last purchase of last year - just because, you know, it's not like it was such a hard decision to buy the only Suikoden I didn't own, once and for all.

Now I'll try not to buy anything until Drakengard II comes out.
