Whats your PSP launch look like for you?

On March 24th I will be buying a Sony PSP. Against the fanboyish in me, I cannot wait for the system to arrive, and everyday until then I will be listening to one track from Lumines to keep my pumped for the game. To be honest I wasn't going to be buying a PSP on launch if it hadn't been for the praise and the music I've heard about the game on these boards :)

So anywho here's what I'm getting:
Sony PSP - 249.99
Lumines - 39.99
Ridge Racer - 39.99
WipeOut Pure - 39.99
Mercury - 49.99 (not sure if i want this or not..need more information.

So all in all, I'm going to be spending around 368.97 (w/o tax) or 418.96 (w/o tax- IF i get Mercury).

PSP Get +1 :D

thank god for the tax return :)

How much are you spending?

I'll be getting:

PSP System
Lunimes
Twisted Metal: Head On

Possible Purchases:
Metal Gear Solid Acid
Mercury

Unsure if I want to get MGS, and I might wait for Mercury to drop to $39.99 or lower before I buy it.

Quick question for anyone that might know: I've preordered a PSP at EBGames already and put down $200.00 in store credit from traded in games. Whenever I've paid for a game with trade in credit I've never been taxed. If I pay the remaining $50.00 in cash will I only be taxed for the $50.00, or will they tax me for the whole thing since the whole thing wasn't paid off in trade in credit?

As I’m a filthy thieving Yuropean I’m going to import from NA and steal from your precious shipment!

1x PSP
1x WipeOut Pure
1x Twisted Metal

$0 :D I'm going to wait a year or two for some compelling and original(non ports/sequels/remakes) games to come out for it. Also not to mention memory stick prices to come down. Will Sony ever make any 5 gig+ memory sticks? Sorry 1 gig is not enough for me for mp3s, videos, etc.. Don't give into the hype.

Yeah, it's so hard to swap files in and out of the PSP.

i didn't even think i was getting a PSP until i was at work last night, and "Lights" from Lumines would not stop playing in my head. At the moment, the PSP with an extended warranty, Wipeout Pure, and of course Lumines should suffice.

Sounds like you need some Lumines in your life :lol

PSP
Twisted Metal
Wipeout Pure
Mercury
Untold Legends
Metal Gear Acid
NFSU Rivals
NBA Street
MVP or MLB Baseball
Dynasty Warriors
Spiderman 2 (dependent upon reviews)
Tiger Woods PGA Tour (dependent upon reviews)

I'm probably just getting the system and maybe lumines.

I'm interested in Untold Legends and MG:Acid, but I'm going to wait on reviews on these before purchasing.

I should probably just save all my game money for a 1GB stick, though. I'm definately interested in the multimedia capabilities.

PSP and extended warranty.
Some sort of case.
1 GB memory card
Lumines
Metal Gear Acid
Maybe a baseball game, waiting on reviews.

I've got a feeling the price in GBP will not translate nicely. I will not be buying at launch save for some minor miracle.

I was with a bunch of older lads from work today though and they'd never seen the thing in person before -- they're all getting it on launch day whatever the price is, and insist that I am too so we can play wireless together. I assure you though, I'm definately not.

32MB memory stick isn't enough for more than gamesaves, but thankfully I don't give a damn about portable video, and I've got the music angle covered by a HDD based player. I'm just gonna wait for the first round of price drops on the actual hardware, or maybe try and trade a few old PS2 games in towards it. It depends really. Until I play one for a good length of time on demo stations, or by using a friends system: I'm not gonna be sure if I actually wanna play current-gen-home-console-like titles on the move or not. I've always liked the handheld market for having new things you don't get on the home consoles, and retro genres/styles you don't see anymore. I don't think PSP will share that character so much. I'm not that hot on the launch lineup. I know the DS' was bad outside of Mario 64 and maybe one or two other titles at a stretch, but I don't get the Sony-oriented media hyping some third party games for it like they're AAA gold either. Ridge Racers? A Metal Gear card game? I just don't give a shit. Call me when proper Final Fantasy games, Metal Gear, GTA and things like that hit the system. Or maybe let me see more compelling content, like this Lumines supposedly is.

That's the other game I forgot. Though I wish Hot Shots Golf was still a launch title. When's the new release date for it?

I have a JP PSP, but as far as games I'll be picking up:

Twisted Metal
Mercury
Lumines (if it's different than JP version)
WipeOut Pure (maaaaaybe)

While I'd love to have Lumines, I can't justify the high price of the PSP for just one game. I'll be picking one up when the system drops to $150 though. :D

+1 Sony PSP Value Pack
+1 Extended Warranty

Maybe a Memory Stick...depends.

Might get Twisted Metal, but probably just sticking with the base unit.

I'm just gonna pick up my system. The hardware, movie, demo(s), video(s), etc. should keep me entertained for a while. I'll get a game some other day.

PSP.
Whatever else Sony Europe throws in the box when they send out press units.
Whatever else comes through the door from third-parties.

You might not have thought that you were getting charged tax, but you are. Basically it just takes whatever store credit amount you have off of the price of the system. So let's say that the system comes out to $270 give or take with tax, you put $200 in store credit down, you still owe $70 on the system. You can't escape tax in the US for the most part.

As for me, I'm probably going to pick up Metal Gear Ac!d, Ridge Racers, Lumines, and Tiger Woods either on, or near launch.

Actually, that's not true.

Trade-In store credit allows for tax TO NOT be included:

EG

PS2 = $149
Trade-In credit = $150

You're value on your card is $1. You pay NO tax. Basically, you don't have to pay tax because you don't have to pay tax on an exchange of goods. With EB at least. I've never traded in @ gamestop.

PSP
Extended warranty
Twisted Metal and/or Wipeout and/or Lumines (games are dependant upon how much $$$ I have to burn)

Ah, see, I work at Gamestop (sometimes) and they still charge you tax. If EB is tax free, well hell, that's way better.

I would buy the unit on launch day if it were $199 Canadian but $299 Canadian is just ridiculous for a handheld no matter how powerful the system is.

I really want Wipeout Pure, Twisted Metal Head On, Ape Escape and Ridge Racers :( How much is the PSP software in Canada?

PSP
1 gig mem stick from asia somewhere.. cheap I hope

Lumines
Ridge Racers
wipeout Pure (pending reviews ... didn't enjoy the PS2 title)

PSP Value Pack
Lumines
Ridge Racers
Mercury
NBA Street
Wipeout Pure
Metal Gear Acid
Darkstalkers
1 GB memory stick
Screen covers

I'm estimating a total cost of about $120 (no, it's not through trade-ins :))

I'm getting the PSP system and three games from the following list. I'll wait to see what reviews say before I decide which ones I'm going to get:

Tiger Woods Golf
NFL Street
NBA Street
Untold Legentds
WipeOut Pure
Twisted Metal
Mercury

I've already got most of the PSP paid for with my pre-order down payment and a bunch of trade in credit, so I pretty much just need to buy games. I may get a second battery pack as well, but I'm not sure I'll need one right away and may wait for a higher capacity one to be released.

It's going to be a good month. I'm getting my new car on Thursday and my PSP in about a month. :D

Any UK journos here know what the deal is with SCEE PSP hand-outs yet?
They seem worryingly quiet...

nah i hear ya.

I gotta cancel (or preferably sell off) my other PSP preorder since the launch price is too high for me to afford the eBay Ferengi thing, but I'm still gonna pick one up. So, it's looking like this:

1x PSP Value Pack
1x Extended Warranty
1x Ridge Racers

I'm getting the PSP Value Pack, and plan to get Lumines, Wipeout Pure, and Twisted Metal: Head On. Of the other confirmed launch games, only Ridge Racer appeals to me. The 32MB card is plenty for game saves...I don't have a use for the multimedia features in the short term.

I also would expect to get an extended warranty...but does EBGames offer them?

Finally, does anyone have any insight as to US availability for good screen protectors and/or cases? Or should I be ordering a particular item NOW from overseas vendors?
