Wheel of Time

Of course it is.

Now, I wonder who picks up Terry Brooks' Shannara series? Because that, my friends, is another epic fantasy series untapped.
Untapped? Isn't there a show for that one already?

Same with Sword of Truth.

I think a David Eddings series could be good, though that is pretty derivative at this point as well. First Law would be dope but probably too hard-core for streamers these days. McCaffreys dragonrider of Pern series would be quite different but the Dragon budget would be ridonculous.

I'm holding out for a hard R adult Gor series but that's just me :p

Malazan Book of the Fallen of course would be the GOAT but it would require the entire british film industry to support it and each season would cost a billion dollars :p

All I want is a Kings of the Wyld movie or show. It's new gen fantasy, but my god it's fantastic.

The Shannara show was pretty much a turd though.

I'd like a proper Discworld show. That The Watch travesty is such a frustrating thing. A show about The Night Watch is a brilliant idea, but don't pretend you've got better ideas than Terry Pratchett. Adapt the actual thing instead of making some dumbass cyberpunk show.

I never really thought about having the series I liked turned into tv shows or movies. I used to like the xanth series by piers anthony but that is too crazy. That drizzt dark elf movie would be interesting to see. Hawk and Fisher as a somewhat low budget tv show would work from simon r. green. L.E. Modesitts worlds would easily work for a tv show. Like a lot of the time when they have folks with the black order(?) side of magic they end up being craftsman so that would be easy enough. Mercedes Lackey I think would work well today if I remember it right with them having lgbtq couples mentioned in the books. Kim Harrison's books would work also but I don't know if I would prefer that as a tv show or a movie. With that said I think they would all end up being terrible as tv shows or movies.

This series was gash. I'm not sure how fans of the books felt about it, but I just couldn't get into this series and thought it was poor.

I'm now really, really concerned about the upcoming Middle-earth series. After watching this, I have very little faith that Amazon will do Tolkien's world justice.

Lenny Henry's a hobbit and he's very excited about for you know why reasons. My money's on it being exactly what we expect it to be, though of course I hope I'm very wrong.

The only thing that made me keep watching this show was because of Rosamund Pike, great actress but other than that… the show really haven't clicked with me. Everything was off

Prime Video will not be renewing The Wheel of Time for a fourth season. The decision, which comes more than a month after the Season 3 finale was released April 17, followed lengthy deliberations. As often is the case in the current economic environment, the reasons were financial as the series is liked creatively by the streamer's executives.

I tried season 1. Hated it. Just came across as cheesy fantasy. Not my cup of tea.

I read the article on Deadline and I'm a little confused why the show was cancelled? According to the article, the show was critically acclaimed and was a regular in the Nielsen's Top 10 Originals chart.

However, it dropped out of Nielsen's Top 10 Originals chart after the first three weeks of Season 3, which is then grounds to cancel? Is that it? A show spends time out of the top ten and it's axed? Seems a bit brutal, unless there is more to it.

Too bad. The third season was definitely the best but the series did a mess of things as far as the books go. I understand that some things change due to different mediums but some of the changes made no sense world building wise(and most importantly i think they did the main character dirty by not showcasing why he is feared by everyone and instead of focusing on Pike's character).

Still i enjoyed it a lot more than that piece of shit Rings of Power.

With Season 3 they probably made the show about as good they could. It was supposed to be as viral as Game of Thrones but the only people talking about it were a few miserable old bastards complaining how it wasn't exactly like the books even though the books are full of pulpy shite.

It was doomed to failure, it would've had to run for 20 seasons to include everything. The series is too big and unwieldy, I tapped out around book 8.

Damn this thread hadn't been populated in 2 years! Holy shit. I liked the 1st season but never got back into it. I couldn't be bothered to see when the new seasons were releasing.

Well damn. Season 3 was really the best so far and I hoped each kept getting better and they got to show the ending.

At least the show helped me convince several people to read the much better books.

I quit before the 1st season was even over. It was a dumpster fire of a show for me who really liked the books since the 90s. Amazon should never have hired Salke as she has been a complete disaster.

I agree. When the show came out I watched the 1st season with my wife who knew nothing. I think I started irritating her with my complaining. I loved the books. The series not much to not at all...

Debatable if the books are much better...
Crossroads of Time Is boring as hell, there is a ton of pointless filler in many books and the last book is a massive shit show.

Well the last 3 books were written by an entirely different author who tried to stick as close as possible to the run down he got from him on his death bed.

I'm looking for a long form video on you tube to summarize the entire series again. Anyone got one?

Being a different author doesn't excuse dragging the story for 2 books and half and then go on a killing spree on the 2nd half of the last book.
he basically kills every character in a rush

I don't disagree at all. Was just pointing out the facts.
