Where are you on the global fat scale?

I seem to be doing okay.

BMI is a good general measure for the vast majority of the population. Exercising regularly does not make you special. Post a pic and your BMI if you think you're too cool for the scale.

I was 252lbs (6"1) with around 16-18% body fat in this pic -

Putting in my old weight, I would be labeled obese, which Im not even close to. Im currently 236lbs with around 13-14% body fat, and it still says I have more body fat than 98% of the population.

Yeah, BMI is not the greatest way to measure ones body.

I just got fat tested. 185lbs of LBM. I weigh 200lbs. 15lbs of fat. That's roughly 7.5% Bodyfat.
According to BMI I am fatter than roughly 81% of males age 15-29. Yeah, OK!

7.5% body fat? You must be fucking ripped.

So? It's obvious in the pic that you have quite a lot of muscle mass. So in your case BMI does not tell a true story by a long shot.

But most people do not have shoulders like you, thats for sure.

21 BMI.

You have less body fat than 89% of males aged 30-44 in your country

You have less body fat than 73% of males aged 30-44 in the world

It isn't useful for individual measurement of body fat and it was never intended to be. Like others, I've got a lower body fat than BMI would indicate. It just doesn't take into consideration an individual's characteristics.

But I can't think of anything better for population wide metrics.

I had asthma and some regular exercise does help out. But I don't know how severe yours is.

It's not as severe now as when I was a teenager, although it's worsened by outdoor activities because of my allergies. Did you ease into doing more intensive exercising or should I just tape an inhaler to my head?

No I don't believe it is either. Like you say, it's meant for population wide metrics. However if you are one of the untrained "masses", it does give you a (very)general value to see if you are stepping into the danger zone or not. Or you know, look in a mirror.

Don't feel bad, I think I have the highest BMI in the thread so far at 35.

And this is with eating very few breads/pastas and going to the gym. :(
I think you've posted a picture here a few years ago. If it's the same now then I wouldn't worry too much about what the BMI chart says.

BMI is a running joke for me because I'm getting to the point where I'm almost a little too muscular.

BMI is a flawed way of determining fatness.
not for sedentary people.

If you're a sports person, there's probably no way you'll ever need to look at bothering with it.

for average joe, it's excellent.

23bmi. Would have been lower without that 10 day vacation to Hawaii I just got back from. Damn you chimichungas, DAMN YOU.

God, I really do have the worst BMI (35) don't I? :/ I don't even look THAT obese.
No, I have 39.

I don't look obese either. it's mostly in my stomach and XXL shirts hide it. Actualyl XXL shirts are too big in many ways. XL shirts let the fat rolls bleed through.

My arms, legs, and face don't look big. My ass isn't big.

But yeah, I'm dropping it this year.

I love it how only underweight people are posting things. lol

But yeah I weigh less than most Americans and the world and am most like Belgium.

FML forever alone.
No woman wants to date me and other men look upon me with disdainful contempt.
What the fuck? 127 and 5'11? Eat something dude.

See, but I AM trying to drop it, yet it's not working for me. Maybe I should dive into P90X or whatever?

Well, it told me I'm fat but I'm not, so that was interesting. It's a good thing I'm not gullible like a lot of people are or I'd freak out and starve myself and all that shit.

Representing World's #3 country by obesity.

That's what I'm going to do after seeing this:

6 pack in 90 days? Holy shit.

I should be able to do wonders, in comparison to now, by the end of the year.

I have P90X and liked it, but only did it for a week because I wasn't good with planning out their recommended nutrition. I can't cook, so it's over my head.

I don't know. I bet my body fat percentage is a lot higher than the BMI is telling me it is, because I just have small bones and a small frame.

21 BMI. It described me as similar to someone from Mozambique so i'm pretty stoked about that.

A nice example here for those of you doubting how ridiculous BMI tests actually are, Cristiano Ronaldo has a BMI of 25 which i believe qualifies him as overweight and unhealthy. Possibly the fittest soccer player in the world is considered overweight by this very scientific test.

Guess i'm ok with this right now.

I recently started a new fitness/workout regime, so I bet that BMI will be skewed in a few months. I'm from the Netherlands.

20BMI

Most like India

95% US, 73% world

If everyone in the world had the same body fat as you, it would remove 45,688,242 tonnes from the total weight of the world's population.

Hm, Philippines.. Alright.. The age selection is quite big though, it´s not nice to put 15 year old teenies in the same group as 29 year olds.

Below average here, BMI 19.
I don't know how I feel about this whole BMI thing... I am a healty individual, maybe I need to gain a couple of kilos, but nothing much.

I doubt I would have the same results, though perhaps I can shed a few pounds.

Your numbers:
Fat Index
22bmi

National
Below average
You have less body fat than 90% of males aged 30-44 in your country

Global
Below average
You have less body fat than 66% of males aged 30-44 in the world

Did you know?
If everyone in the world had the same body fat as you, it would remove 18,343,435 tonnes from the total weight of the world's population

You're most like someone from Haiti

Cool
