Where has J. Allard been?

The BusinessWeek article basically describes J Allard (37) as one of the possible future leaders of Microsoft...

Fortune magazine had an article about Microsoft a year or two ago and it profiled 8 people inside the company who will be running it once the old guards like Gates and Ballmer step down. J Allard was one of those people featured. They call this group of people, the "Baby Bills".

I don't think he was demoted at all. I think they just decided to let Peter Moore be the face of the Xbox 360 instead of having J Allard, Robbie Bach, and Shane Kim all trying to be front and center as the face of the platform.

me too. but we had a very bizarre hate thread about this kind of look. it was pretty disturbing - plenty of insults and disgust at what many people seem to consider the "bum look".

You can tell that thread was worthwhile on account of all the taste that Gaffers have.

So, has he been working on the Xbox handheld system??
He has been working on Zune, which is not exactly a portable game system, so no.

I bet now that Zune is done he's working on Xbox 720.

I think Allard is a much cooler spokesman than Moore..

Moore comes across as a bad B grade movie villain, whereas Allard seems to be someone that really loves what he is doing..

Where ever he is, I think he should stay in the shadows.

I like Moore better as a spokesman. Allard just dodges every question anyone has. At least you can get Moore to comment on things. And as mentioned above, the who metro thing is also disturbing.

And we have to call him J because it sounds so cool right?

J is edgy? I'm intrigued!

+ buy Microsoft Points for all these platforms + you can transfer Microsoft Points across these platforms for small fee of a certain amount of Microsoft Points

actually, you can sign into the zune marketplace with your existing 360 gamertag/passport account and use the same points on either marketplace with no extra fees or anything. I'd rather buy an 80 point song instead of an 80 point picture pack :P

i know you were half-joking though

Everything with Allard is about velocity. He drives a Ferrari 360 and a Porsche 911. He bombs down ski runs during the summer on a mountain bike at speeds topping 30 miles an hour. He qualified for the U.S. Nationals race this summer but had to drop out after he was hit by a car while biking around Seattle. "I love that gravity is unforgiving," he says. He even blazes through e-mail, jotting down notes all in lower case: "shift key slows you down," he writes.

:lol j allard is pimp. too many haters on this board. i for one give props to the guy who helped launch the xbox.

J. Allard has alot of work to do for us gamers. he's got the Microsoft handheld game system to work on right now (which is not Zune), and he's got the next-generation Xbox to work on.

the Microsoft handheld could be a 2007-2008 arrival, the next-gen Xbox could be a 2010-2011 arrival. lots of work for Allard.

There's a lot of pent-up, misdirected nerd envy when it comes to Allard. The guy lost a lot of weight, wears stylish clothes, makes tons of money, and builds videogame consoles.
