Where Winds Meet is an incredible game and you should play it

I honestly can't believe a game of this quality is free.

It's absolutely insane how much high-quality content it offers: well written side quests, a compelling main story, and truly rewarding exploration. Every npc feels unique, they always have something interesting to say, and many of them offer quests that are surprisingly deep and engaging. The game is packed with systems and options that can feel overwhelming at first, but once everything clicks, you just can't stop playing.

The combat is fantastic. There are tons of weapons, skills, and attack styles, and everything feels fluid, satisfying, and visually impressive. The graphics are great too, aside from the occasional rough texture here and there, yet the world is vast, beautiful, and full of stunning landscapes.

I genuinely encourage everyone here, papito to papito, to give this game a try. It's one of the best open world experiences I've had in years. The sheer amount of content, dungeons, skills, items, secrets, is staggering, and it's easily become one of my favorite open-world games. Beware, there is some jank at times, this game is by no means perfect but its really good, seriously

And don't worry about gacha or microtransactions, you don't need any of that to fully enjoy it. They are mostly cosmetic and frankly the game gives you for free amazing looking outfits

Trust me: play this game. Stick with it, I know the menus and systems can feel overwhelming at first, but with a bit of patience, you'll learn your way around.

Cheers.

Got it installed and everything but been finishing up on my backlog a bit before diving in (and, of course, more Arc Raiders).

How is the Chinese VO?

Its really good, in fact I recommend everyone to play with Chinese VO with subtitles because the English VO is a little bit buggy at the moment. Its one the very few negatives I have with the game, they need to polish it a bit more.

My son will not stop going on about this game to me, and how I have to play it.

Ok, OP. I'll install it :) - I mean Papito!

Seems very appetizing Papi !
I might pull the trigger soon thanks to you

I tried it for 5 hours. The menus really bothered me, and the online integration wasn't for me. Some of the dialogue was also a bit cheesy.
But I'm happy for anyone who likes the game. I think I'll stick with Infinitive Nikki.

Well shit, I am playing it on PC so I cant speak for the ps5 version. Is it that bad?
A Ryzen 5 5600 + 4060 on ultra settings is getting around 2x framerate than PS5 pro with lower settings than PC lowest settings. In the city of the second area, literally you need to wait 4 or 5 seconds to get some structures load next to you. Plenty of crashes too. They promised fix the framerate and improve graphical settings before 2025 ends (basically in one month), but with the current state of the port I really doubt they can do it.

I'm really trying to like this game, but its gacha DNA is making it really hard.

Yes, the gacha stuff is all cosmetic, which is great, but the game is still a jumbled mess of systems, menus, weird currencies, jank, and a complete and total lack of clear explanation as to what everything does and what you're actually supposed to do next. Moreso than other popular gacha games like Genshin, etc.

For example, right now I'm doing the main quest (I guess), and I'm in some tomb where I just learned three martial arts skills of my choosing off a scroll. There's a little badge in the top left of my screen that says "time limited" (or something similar). Does that mean the quest is time-limited, I have limited play time, or something else?

Honestly, I spend most of my playtime completely confused, which leads to frustration and a complete lack of enjoyment of the game. Each time it takes about 15 minutes for me to become completely frustrated and put the game down.

I'm sure there's a fun game here somewhere, but the jank (Asian jank? Gacha jank?) makes the whole thing unappealing.

Maybe if I keep playing, things will become clearer?

Yeah, I'm loving it so far and am hopelessly addicted already.

It's far from perfect but it's one of those games where the overall gameplay experience is so good that I'm willing to deal with the jank.

Click it and it'll tell you what it's referring to. It's usually a Pardon Parade where you throw tomatoes at incarcerated players. A few days ago we threw tomatoes at a player named "racist" :messenger_grinning_smiling:

I agree with Gonzito Gonzito . Game is superb, even more if you consider it's a free to play game.

The more time you invest into it, the more it delivers. It's insane how a game like this isn't shaking the gaming industry more, because honestly, what these chinese devs deliver us as a F2P, to everyone to try it out, for free..man, it's a really unique experience.

The industry doesn't applaud this, but I'm sure it will applaud a 100 € dollar GTA, full of MTX. Go figure.

Ok papito, youre gonna have to tell me which weapons you are using, because i am not feeling it with nameless sword and panacea fan.

I'm doing strategic sword + umbrella. But I wanna venture with Strategic sword + Heavenquaker Spear in the future.

I think the key here is a mix of both weapon fight and mystical arts. I'm still missing the over the top moves that I think you learn more down the road?

Gear wise I'm a bit at lost on those, for now I'm building gear on pairs, because I'm not exactly farming for a specific set.

It's a great game, I can easily recommend it too.

UI can be very confusing at the beginning and the localization is spotty in places (they're constantly updating it) - but there's a lot of quality in there.

It's for multiplayer events (you can click on it and it'll show you what event is happening online), the only 2 things that pop up there for now, are pardon parade (throwing veggies at players who got caught commiting crimes) or sailing on a boat with a lot of other players (engaging in mini-games etc.) - both can be ignored since they don't offer any significant rewards - they're more for fun.

Shits on Yotei for sure.

I played Yotei 20 hours and I was so bored.

This one so far 35 hours and I can't wait to continue playing more

So I would say that you are right but I dont like to shit on other games in order to elevate another game though. But I agree I think its a better game

Papi T4kedown, I actually change weapons depending on my mood. I really like the spear and the big sword. Animation wise both are really fun. I still need to unlock more weapons like the double swords and the umbrella which I heard very good things off. I think there is enough variation to not get tired and enjoy the combat, specially with bosses

1300 mastery points and climbing!

Game looks real nice and if you say the combat's fun then it's worth a go.

How's the exploration? Are there cool places to find? Dungeons to crawl through?

Exploration is the best part and it rewards you in very good ways. I really like the character progression too as a result of exploring and doing quests.

Just be patience as I said because the game is overwhelming at first, specially the UI and menus. Do not give up and keep playing until things click.

There's an unbelievable amount of exploration, hidden paths, dungeons. In fact, I found two more super long dungeons that no guide spoke of. I tried Googling it and even ChatGPT was like "oh, yeah you found a seventh divine dungeon, I'll add that to my list because to my knowledge, there's no seventh one out currently."

If everything could purchased with tokens then fine by me I'll play it

I had a lot of fun playing Dragon's Dogma Online which is basically a single-player friendly MMO, just focusing on combat and exploration. I think I could really enjoy this game yeah.

Damn that's a pretty game. So glad to see a modern game with vibrant colors such as those.

I'll give it a go later this week, thanks gents.

The thing that I love the most about the game is that you can find a random npc in the middle of nowhere and all of a sudden the npc will trigger a very deep sidequest with cutscenes, change of environments etc. It's actually quite refreshing and impressive

Also Gonzito, my man, add me: 2038270159

Let's talk and play one day?!

Looks like i am switching to spear and strategic sword, luckily ive put at least a few levels into one of those.

black-ninja.gif

I did do a bunch of martial arts spying, but pretty much just stuck the default 2 on every weapon, so not sure how to get a fancier ones. Hopefully its not a late level thing to unlock them.

Nice try Xi!

I dont believe in free things considering how expensive AAA games cost to make now. So many Sony Rockstar MS games are delayed or cancelled

So far I've spent more time failing to get cross progression to work than playing the game. I don't have the user center button and customer service hasn't responded to me.
