Which developer's work are you most looking forward to next gen?

Team ICO! Not so much for the technical advancements, but rather to see what they'll come up with next. :)

Team Ninja, and the next Ninja Gaiden game, to be specific.
Otherwise, Bioware and Bungie.

In the 'up and comers' category, Clover, Swingin' Ape, and Starbreeze get my vote of confidence.

Team Ninja - Ninja Gaiden 2

Retro - Metroid? or anything else

EAD - Mario , Zelda

Bungie - Halo 3

BBB - Fable 2

Konami - MGS4

Capcom - RE5

Rare - PD0

Midway, by far. Their new and revitalized franchises all look interesting, and could have quite a bit of potential next gen.
Seeing as how they have Cliffy B and Unreal, and could be going after the original founders of Ion Storm, Midway is definetly prepping itself for the next gen.

Nintendo -- They will have a huge head start on holographic games, obviously b/c they invented it!... so It will be quite a while before 3rd party developers make some truely groundbreaking software for it. I expect most of the early stuff from these developers to be very much akin to the same games they made on the Atari (imagine a direct conversion of Missile Command, only with a z-axis added in). I believe the people at EAD and freinds will refrain from making a port of "Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong Jr., etc.) and instead really push to get that analogue, fluid, feel of more modern games.

Snowblind Studios
FASA Studios
Epic Games
Midway San Diego
RealTime Worlds

I'm sure there are more.

Well they don't really 'have' Cliff, he is still at Epic and they are still 100% independent. Epic has signed a development deal for the Unreal franchise. Epic has other games in development that don't fall under Unreal.
Midway already has all of the 'Original' Ion Storm guys, in some form.

Founders of Ion Storm:
John Romero - Design Manager Midway San Diego
Tom Hall - Creative Director Midway San Diego
Jerry O'Flaherty - Art Director Epic Games (not owned by Midway)
Todd Porter - Unknown

Late Ion Storm Managment:
Harvey Smith - Director Midway Austin

Exactly what I meant. Of course they don't own Cliffy B or Epic, but the deal was an extremely wise idea. The only Ion Storm founder they need is Warren Spector, and there have been rumors going around. I wouldn't expect Epic to allow Midway to buy them out.

Capcom - for their next batch of series, and who knows, maybe even SF4

Namco - a new Ridge Racer and Tekken for PS3's launch

Tecmo - DOA4

Nintendo - I'm not really looking forward to their games...okay maybe I'm looking forward to a next gen Zelda or Metroid since I'm a sucker for those.... but I'm really just anxious to see how things will play out with them (mistakes, if any, and what not). I'm also wondering if they will make a normal controller next time.

Basically everyone working on PS2 who has any artistic talent.

Games like DQVIII, Wanda, even that new Genji game look great artistically and are pushing the system to the max, but they're all still stuck with little annoyances brought up by the technology. Next-gen should allow these people to create a better realization of their visions.

Square-enix: Hopefully they revive CHRONO and VAGRANT STORY for PS3, plus a couple good, original franchises.

Rockstar: For obvious reasons.

Konami: My brain melts when I think of what these guys are gonna be able to do with next gen hardware.

Nintendo: I'm still waiting for the sequel to Mario64...

Insomiac: These guys saved the platform genre this gen...

Team Ninja: More Ninja Gaiden, less DOA...

Visual Concepts: Graphics will be ridiculously realistic, models will be insane...

Plus a few more, but I could live a complete video game life with those developers alone. :D

Well Warren isn't an Ion Storm founder. He was the Director of Looking Glass Studios Austin. In 1997 when LGS Austin was abandoned by their parent company, John convinced Warren to join Ion Storm.

I wouldn't expect Epic to allow Midway to buy them out.
It won't happen. Epic generates millions with their engine, and all they have to do is look at Renderware in how many developers dropped it for other middleware after they were purchased by EA. It isn't in Epic's best interest to be anything but independent.

Rockstar for GTA 4 and Sammy for Guilty Gear 3.

Fuck capcom. If they want to forget about new fighting games, I'll forget about them.

The answer for myself is essentially a "who's who" list of some of my favorite developers from this generation. (This seems to be the case with a lot of responses in this thread.)

Naughty Dog, Insomniac, Sucker Punch: All three of these developers have done world-class platform games. I'm curious to see if they'll be cooking up more platformers in the future, or if they'll bring their talents to other genres.

Polyphony Digital: The Gran Turismo series is still the king of racing simulations. With all the effort they pour into each successive installment, the future of the series is going to be spectacular.

Criterion: Burnout 3 isn't just a game--it's a preview disc of next generation gaming.

Snowblind Studios: The new "Champions" of action role-playing games. I generally despise most console RPGs, but these guys have actually made RPGs that are not just graphically impressive, but fun, too.

Harmonix: Their games are highly creative and highly enjoyable.

Digital Eclipse: Their emulations of classic video games are almost always very high quality. I know they've got Death, Jr. in the works for PSP, but will they also be working on classic game compilations for that system? Let's hope so!

Llamasoft: Tempest 2000 and Tempest 3000 were ace. If Jeff can ever finish up Unity, then maybe Atari could hire him to do an all-new Tempest game on PSP (wishful thinking, I know).

Team Ninja: Specifically some sort of DOAX sequel, or better yet another wrestling game from those guys at Konami who made Rumble Roses :D

Rockstar: A GTA game with next gen graphics will be bliss for me.

Bungie - I want to see if they can take Halo further with larger maps and 64 player support for some of the objective games.

FASA Studio - Shadowrun

Square-Enix - I'd love to see FFVI get the treatment it deserves, be it a portable port or console overhaul.

Nintendo - It's all about the Zelda!

Rockstar - A GTA Liberty City Sequel would do in a pinch.

Rockstar: I'm a sucker for GTA games, GTA Online would be nice.
Bioware: I love their more traditional D&D based games. NWN was underrated, and BG continues to own to this day. I would love to see where next gen hardware can take them.
Capcom: Hoping they bring out some more new series, DMC was a step in the right direction. I'm really looking forward to RE4.
Namco: So many great IP's, I can't wait to see RR, Tales, and Tekken/SC.
Retro: So much talent here, I'm hoping they go beyond Metroid. Fantastic Artists and the one and only Zoid. I can't wait to see what they do.
Nintendo: I'm probably the most eager on the Revolution, I really can't wait to see what it actually is, and what type of Revolution it will purportedly herald. Zelda will probably own me, either way.

Of course all the majors such as Nintendo, PD, Sega, Namco, Capcom, Square Enix, etc... Of the rest...

Guerilla. Killzone has my pick for art direction of the year and though the game is running on hardware too weak to realize the vision it remains succesful enough to get me exited about the future and a possible sequel.

Swinging Ape proved that they could do a great knock off of Halo with Metal Arms last year. The talent is there to make something that more people will stand up and take notice of.

CryTek's Farcry is close to my GOTY. Where they take the immersive environments of a game like Far Cry is going to be very exciting. They'll transition into next gen without any problems.

The big companies who'll make the transition without a problem are Namco, Square Enix, Koei, Capcom, Konami as they already have a process for doing very cinematic and high quality artwork for advertising and cutscenes.

EA is probably going to have the roughest transition mostly because they will spread themselves far too thin.

Nintendo will have the least impact in terms of taking advantage of next gen graphics due to their reluctance to embrace and push what the current generation of machines are capable of. Their games will continue to be great but I doubt they will push the visual edge.

Nintendo, Rockstar, and Silicon Knights are totally on my agenda. They all have stuff I'm heavily interested in. Bethesda is another one I have my eye on, I'm really looking forward to Oblivion even though it's not exactly what I was hoping for.

What were you hoping for? Was there some recent news on the game or something?

I'm a huge fan of Daggerfall, I was really hoping with the recent boom of free roaming technology Bethesda would bring back some of the massive random towns and cities, finding out the game is actually going be even smaller than Morrowind was kind of a downer. Don't get me wrong, I'm still excited about the game and all, I was just dying to enjoy some more of those huge life-like cities.

Which team made Armed and Dangerous fortheXbox? Thats another team that I like since I thioght Armed and Dangerous was a damn fun shooter with some nice art and cool humor behind it. Awhile back a friend of mine had informed me that Sony had purchased them? Is this true? If so, good purchase then.
