• Hey Guest. Check out your NeoGAF Wrapped 2025 results here!

which games do you plan on getting this year?

i think 2025 was a pretty good year for gaming and this one will be too.

my list:

octopath traveler zero
007 first light
never grave: the witch and the curse
fatal frame remake
super meat boy 3d
crimson desert
phantom blade zero
tides of annihilation
persona 4 revival(if it releases)
gungrave gore blood heat
control 2/resonant
onimusha the way of the sword
wolverine
darksiders 4(if it releases)
worship(occultist cult of the lamb x pikmin style roguelike)

im expecting like half of the games here to get delayed to 2027 though lol.

RE9 - solely because of the Outbreak connection. I don't actually expect it be any good.
Pragmata - Easily the most interesting game on the horizon
Virtua Fighter 6 - Probably a 2027 release but a man can dream
Tomodachi Life - big maybe since I'm expecting the genderless miis to make the game unplayable.
Showa American Story - possibly GOTY
Romeo is a Dead Man - probably a mistake since I hate most grasshopper games Suda51 doesn't direct himself
Halloween - Breakers will probably be dead by the time it comes out
The Adventures of Elliot
Once Human - been waiting for the console release
Ananta - will undoubtedly be more fun than GTAVI
Avatar fighting game

I'm interested in:

Romeo is a Dead Man
Pragmata
Professor Layton & the New World of Steam
Rhythm Heaven: Groove
Wolverine
007 First Light
Control: Resonant
Saros
Super Meat Boy 3D
High on Life 2
Denshattack!

Hopefully they all turn out to be good. I'm expecting 2-4 more Nintendo games to get added once we've gotten their full 2026 lineup.

Pragmata

I don't really know what else is coming out for certain this year, tbh. Usually I was quite in the know, but without E3 for so many years and games being announced 5 - 10 years before they release, I simply don't know anymore. We'll see.

Still interested in 007 cause of my huge love for Hitman. I just hope the gameplay is just as a good.

There's really not enough confirmed this year for me to get too excited about much. I'm sure I'll probably play and end loving Resident Evil 9, but something about how they market their games never really gets me hyped. Even though I end up playing them and liking most Resident Evil games.

Will probably be picking up Dragon Quest 7 reimagined just to keep supporting the series, but when I played through the remake on 3DS, it was one of my least favorite games in the series. It was just so long, and boring in spots, and the story was not very interesting. Maybe this remake will breath life into it for me.

After those though...no idea what's really coming out for me to say. I'm a big Switch 1 and 2 player, and since Nintendo seems to only like revealing games a few months in advance, I'm left in the dark a lot. I'm sure I'll buy a lot more games because I do a lot of physical collection on Switch platforms, but I usually don't know what until I see them.

I'll probably also be doing some retro shopping this year. I got an Analogue 3D, and a Super NT recently, so I kinda am loving some SNES and N64 games lately. I also been buying older PSP occassionally. Feel like it's not a platform you see people collect for (probably cuz it's so easy to emulate and homebrew), but I really just like the UMD cases.

TotK S2 digital edition
Animal Crossing S2 digital edition
Dark Souks Remastered
Tomb Raider Definitive Edition
The Duskbloods

Probably some scope for a few other games depending on if any devs do some announcements with a shirt window until release.

2025 has thoroughly killed my interest with buying AAA games day one, so I'm more likely going to buying older stuff on my wishlist discounted, some indies/AA and enjoy my backlog. Persona 4 Revival might be my sole exception, and maybe Pragmata later in the year.

Top Older Games I'm gonna buy sometime this year:
  • 30XX
  • Beyond Good & Evil - 20th Anniversary Edition
  • Escape from Duckov
  • EVERSPACE 2 - Wrath of the Ancients (expansion)
  • Granblue Fantasy: Relink
  • INAZUMA ELEVEN: Victory Road (played a friend's copy)
  • Metal Eden
  • Neon Inferno
  • Pipistrello and the Cursed Yoyo
  • SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance
  • Skin Deep
  • Stellar Blade
  • Tactical Breach Wizards
  • Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon
  • Tempest Rising
  • Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter (played a friend's copy, looks great)
Games if they release out of early access:
  • Fumes
  • Selaco
  • ULTRAKILL
  • Witchfire

I keep saying this every year, but I'm definitely planning to buy less games day1 this year. I went kind of overboard last year and got burned with some disappointing or unpolished games.

Yakuza 3 Kiwami will be my first day1 purchase this year, don't think that Gang of Dragon or Stranger Than Heaven will release this year, but they'd also be on my list. Other than that it's going to be Forza Horizon 6 and Gears of War E-Day (but only when they release on PS5), Control 2 and Judas.

GTA VI

And probably:

- Metroid Prime 4
- FF7 Remake Integrade Switch 2
- Ghost of Yôtei
- Pragmata (I need to try the demo first)
- Tomb Raider (if it's good)
- Yakuza Kiwami 3

But I have still yet to play FF XVI, Pokémon Scarlet, Donkey Kong Bananza and Yakuza Kiwami 1, so we'll see

A lot of cheap games on sale that I'll never play. :lollipop_content:

There's a few "kinda cool" games on the horizon but I wouldn't be against a backlog year.

I have Gamepass until late October so I will play some games on the service before letting it lapse. Might reup if they don't raise the PC price once a decent backlog builds which will include any holiday 2026 games but in 2027.

100% Sure purchases:
  • GTA6 (assuming it actually launches this year)
  • Mario Wonder Switch 2 upgrade/dlc
  • The Yoshi Game
  • Wolverine
  • Control 2 (PC)
Not sure what else. Probably Crimson Desert. Nintendo might put out something later in the year that interests me and the kids. I plan to play High on Life 2 on Gamepass.

I'm interested in:

Romeo is a Dead Man
Pragmata
Professor Layton & the New World of Steam
Rhythm Heaven: Groove
Wolverine
007 First Light
Control: Resonant
Saros
Super Meat Boy 3D
High on Life 2
Denshattack!

Hopefully they all turn out to be good. I'm expecting 2-4 more Nintendo games to get added once we've gotten their full 2026 lineup.
You've got some good tastes

I'm actually thinking about buying no games at all this year and just working through my backlog when (a big if) I ever get time.
I did it back in 2023 and it was refreshing ignoring all the hype and fomo.

If I do get anything the newest would likely be Cronos and RE7&8, otherwise it's all older stuff on sales.

Warhammer 40k Dark Heresy
007
Tomb Raider
Solasta 2

Those are pretty much guaranteed purchases for me. I'll also play Fable as soon as it's available but this will be via Gamepass.

Knowing myself I'll probably buy GTA 6 as well, even though I never finish games made by Rockstar. Somehow the hype always gets me.

Hmmm, it depens on how these games are after their releases. But I'm very interested on RE9, Mouse P.I, Replaced and Withering Realms.

Toxic Commandos
Resident Evil 9
Bloodstained 2
Vampire Survivors deck builder
007 First Light
Diablo IV Expansion
Persona 4 Remake

I don't think Judas will be out in 2026, but if it is I will buy it

Probably passing on Wolverine until Playstation 6 / PC

Definitely Passing on GTAVI until it hits Playstation 6 / PC

Trying to go very light both in time and dollars spent compared to 2025 which was insane.

RE9
Saros
Wolverine
Marathon
GTA6
Control Resonant

Maybe halo remake for me and my son to do co op in and the new Lego Batman game for him.

Heavily interested but can wait for sales end of year:
Zero parades
DQ7R
Blood of dawn walker
Pragmata
Onimusha
Duskbloods

There are lots of games I'm interested in, but I'm not 100% sold on most of them just yet.

The ones I feel the most comfortable with so far are Saros and GTA6.
Just below I'd place Wolverine and Crimson Desert - maybe Phantom Blade too.

It could be an expensive year if some of the others turn out great.

The only reason I'm not hyped for RE9 is because I'm a big scaredy cat. Looks amazing though.

In approx release order:

Reanimal
RE9
Replaced
Crimson Desert
Saros
Ghost of Yotei: Legends
Onimusha
Wolverine
GTA6
Phantom Blade Zero

Plus buncha maybes, DLCs and more if I find the time like Pragmata, Judas

Will buy:
Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve
Anything by Monolith Soft

On my radar:
Reanimal
Monster Hunter Stories 3
Acts of Blood
Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave
Persona 4 Revival
Mudang: Two Hearts
Onimusha: Way of the Swords

The past few years I've taken a hands-off approach to buying games, where I just check every once in a while and see what other people are playing and if something keeps popping up, I take a closer look. I don't have a good grasp on all the upcoming stuff, but I'm kind of worried that Duskbloods is gonna be super cool and I'm gonna have to buy a new console for one game. I hate that situation, lol.

My last year with GP, so will focus on getting as much as i can as i will most likely won't resub.
There's High on Life 2 on the way next month so that's my top priority.

Day 1 at full price, very very few. Right now, I can't say any game has me excited. I know I'll play GTA6, but maybe not at launch. Losing Dan Houser really has me less excited for it.
