which system did you skip out on this gen and why?

Days like these...

Have a Blessed Day
Xbox

Early on Halo was the only thing worth owning and when the good titles starting coming out it seemed to late in the system's life to justify a purchase.

Will most probably pick up a 360 (unless all the launch titles really suck) just cause they're launching 1st.

I skipped the NGauge

reasons need not be stated

Xbox and Gamecube - no exclusives I really wanted this generation, although I may pick up a Gamecube eventually when Zelda ships.

Xbox. Not enough "must-have" titles for me. There are some games I'd really like to own though. Another reason why I haven't gotten it is because it's simply a bit too big.

PS2
cause I hate games.

GC: I haven't played a single GC game or even touched the controller ever! But I might buy it when Zelda TW comes out cause I loved OoT

I owned a GC and owned one game for it.... sadly I never found time to finish Skies of Arcadia Legend... I actually still own the GC and Legend... but I don't think that's going to last much longer..

Xbox. I owned one for a short time and played some Team Ninja and Sega games then sold it. I ended up buying KOTOR, Morrowind, and a lot of the FPSs for the PC (I can't stand dual analog controls).

Gamecube. Not enough compelling software. I was set to skip the X-Box too, and might as well have, given how little I've played it. Then again, I hardly touch my PS2 these days, either.

I didn't skip out on any.

But godjesuschrist did my GC collect dust.

Pretty much the same here. I missed out on all handhelds so far apart from the GBA but I suppose they don't count.

I skipped the Xbox this generation. Microsoft was the new kid n the block and I was apprehensive supporting a company that was unlike others in its monopoly power. I thought they would fail; how many times would consumers fall for X-branding and a less-than-stellar launch campaign, right? :lol The only thing I really missed out on was the Live experience; other than than, I shed no tears.

Now the 360 I don't think I should miss.

Xbox.

Just didn't do it for me. I had bought one for the Sega stuff. I got my fill out of 'em, but something came up and I needed the cash, so I got rid of it.

Same. The only game I played a lot on the GC was the super monkey ball series.. I have Zelda: wind waker sitting there still in wrap, but I just don't have the motivation to play it. To be fair.. I mainly used my PC for most of my gaming this gen. So, when I go to consoles it's to play things like Racers, Sports titles and oddly enough RPG's.

PS2 -- Too much mediocrity. Luckily, my roommate has one, so I've been able to partake in the rare stellar stuff, such as DMC, Gitaroo-Man, etc.

It's strange that a lot of people with the GC as a "secondary console" only seem to own 2-3 titles for it. Quite a contrast if you look at the collections of other people...

My GC has mostly been collecting dust this gen as well. I fully support a one console future.

Atari has a console who would beg to differ...

Hey AvP and Tempest rocked and Kasumi Ninja was a sight to behold. Don't knock the Jag.

Yea, only the Ngage was left behind this gen. GC for a few titles (Paper Mario 2, Resident Evil 4, Naruto imports), PS2 RPG's and exclusives (Katamari, Square, SMT DDS and Nocturne, Nippon Ichi, SoTC, etc etc) and Xbox for superior multi-platform titles, no exclusives I played on it.

PS2 and X-box because of lack of funding. I now have enough cash to buy them, though I only yearn for the PS2 but it feels like waste of money when the PS3 is on the way and all. Saving my money for that one instead.

skipped the Xbox, didn't have many games I was interested in and I didn't like the design of the console

sold my GC cause I barely used it

PS2. I could probably throw a rock and hit someone I could borrow one from.

Dude you could reach out and flick a finger in any random direction and hit someone you could borrow one from. Try it!

I got em all this gen. The order I got em in is also the order I like em in First>Last:Favourite>Least Gavourite...

GC > Xbox > Ps2

If PS2 didn't have certain franchises like Metal Gear before any other console, I just wouldn't give a damn. It seems good for some genres I've grown out of / lost time for though. There are lots of quirky and/or wonderful titles like Gitaroo Man, Ico, Katamari etc, and the Eyetoy really surprised me in terms of new things that are on offer too. I know its not a bad console. In fact I can see why its everyones favourite. Its just not mine. Not by a long shot.

I did have an Xbox, but I only ever wanted a few games for it and when half of them came out I ended up not even buying them, so I eventually just sold it off.

xbox, I've got a PS2 and I feel those systems have similar games + don't have the money to buy games for all of them.

I like how people don't know what "skipped out" means... If you bought it, used it and eventually sold it, it doesn't mean you "skipped out" on it. :p

Ps2 was the only system I skipped out on this gen. I got one as a gift and it sat in it's box unopened for months. Eventually I gave it to my cousin.

The timed exclusives were almost always better, graphically or otherwise, when it was released on the xbox. I bought all my multiplatform games on the xbox for the same reason, plus HDD advantages, custom soundtracks, controller etc.

Plus, I wasn't particularly interested in the actual exclusives.

Xbox because when the games came out I want to have, Xbox 360 was announced yet so I decided to wait.
PS2 because a) I don't like the controller and b) I'm not interested in it's exclusive games.

Gizmondo. Just too expensive for what it offered.
NGage. Waiting on the next-generation units.
GP32. I have no idea why.

I bought an xbox, got a Gamecube two years later and just got a PS2 one year ago. A few months ago I got a GBA but Im thinking of trading it in for Gameboy player for my Cube. I haven't missed out on much.

Technically I haven't skipped either of the three, owned a PS2 which I sold around the Euro Xbox launch and got an Xbox, which has since then been my console of choice with roughly 100 titles aquired to date last time I counted. I won a Gamecube in 2002 which has had its moments (Metroid Prime, F-Zero, Zelda, MGS) but has been collecting dust for over a year now.

The portable gaming market doesn't interest me much, the last such console I bought was a Gameboy Pocket, 9 years ago.
