Which was more impressive for its time: Code Veronica or RE4?

CV and RE4 blew me away equally because CV was my first RE game. RE4 doesn't need an explanation.

The three survival horror games that really blew me away were Silent Hill, CV and RE4.

RE:CV was really impressive (graphically) because it was the first major 3rd person action game released on a next-gen console. I mean, that was basically true for any of the early big Dreamcast games (Sould Calibur, NFL2k, Sonic etc.). It's not like RE4, which is amazing people a full 5 years into this console generation. That's far more impressive.

RE4 is an awesome game. It's graphics though didn't impress me that much. First of all, the game only runs at 640x320 with 30 fps.

Not trolling - just curious, where did you get the 640x320 figure from?

Doesn't progressive scan increase the resolution. Also in a interview with Kobayashi, thats in the April issue of EGM. Kobayashi when asked about the borders, he say's that it wasn't a issue of hardware but giving the player a wider view space. All of you have noticed that when you proceed to aim your weapon, Leon moves to the far left part of screen. Now if you can compare the view space to Splinter Cell, you'll that the view space is wider on RE4.

For the feature nuts there's bump mapping in RE4, which can be seen after killing Salazaars right hand man. Just use your sniper rifle to zoom in on his corpes. Also during the cutscene before the battle with Salazaar you'll see on the large parasite plant flower pedals.
