Couldn't be bothered? Really. It takes a fair amount of effort to redesign a chassis and rearrange the components around it. Once that is done, now you need new tooling in manufacturing. In what planet is that really worth the cost? This is a cost effective solution. Sony went through the trouble to make the digital and drive version the same so there is a precedent there too.Sorry, I just see that there’s a huge void inside where the disc drive no longer exists and MS couldn’t be bothered to redesign the console to reflect this.
The Series S in black is the nicest console they’ve ever made. Shame about the ram.
Microsoft have obviously done this in the past. Both 360 and especially Xbox One went through several revisions. We can just assume it's not considered important this time. My take is that Microsoft are not interested in hardware anymore.Couldn't be bothered? Really. It takes a fair amount of effort to redesign a chassis and rearrange the components around it. Dont worry, PS6 will have straight lines too. Sony has a very clear design cadence when it comes to their consoles. Curves, straight, curves, straight, curves.... next one will be straight again.I prefer black consoles or a solid fun color, not into white.
But, I'm very inclined to minimalist, straight lines, so I have loved Xbox designs since One X/S.
PS4 Slim/Pro is amazing as well, and I have been horrified with PS5.
MS should have that option just like Sony offers with the newer PS5 models. Is there an option to hook up an external BD drive?
I’m not sure what you mean, but I do feel that their new “robot white” is too white. I have the Xbox One S, and its white is perfect.Way too bright white, have a dash of color in there somewhere.
This is that grass is always greener on the other side type thing isn't it.
launch a black console = boring and safe
release white version of said console = sleek and clean
launch a white console = eyesore and too loud
release a black version of said console = best thing since sliced bread.

Honestly Xbox has done great with the industrial design of this gen's devices, the non-joke special editions of Xbox consoles are insanely nice.I know Xbox + discless consoles are two unpopular things on here but this thing is very aesthetically clean. Probably my favorite looking conole of this gen now...
Let me guess you saw the dress white and gold.I could be colorblind, but it looks more pink than while to me.
So clean that it was cleaned from games too
I beg your pardon, I'm punishing myself right meow
I don't think the original design is lazy. It's cool how they actually got everything to fit in that size. The digital white is pretty lazy, though, yeah.Beauty is certainly in the eye of the beholder, because that has to be the laziest console design ever created.
That's a nice looking routerLooks like my router.
Looks like my router.
I have the same. It's a pain in the ass with a crap UI and app that takes forever to change anything. That's a nice looking router
For someone that owns both a series X and PS5. My ps5 needs cleaning more often than series X.Perfect to collect dust too.
I haven't even watched one single episode of that Spongebob thing, but that console design while hilarious is also genius. Lovely. I'd buy itIt's just white.....
Wake me up when they start releasing unique designs like:
You could do almost anything with that formfactor and all they do is black and white.
You can put OpenWRT on it. But the app works fine.I have the same. It's a pain in the ass with a crap UI and app that takes forever to change anything.
I think the Xbox One X was the nicest looking console design wise that MS made. Series X isn't bad, and it borrows from the design language they used in the One X but it's I think it's okay, feels a bit boring at times, better than this white one though... IMO.Sorry, I just see that there’s a huge void inside where the disc drive no longer exists and MS couldn’t be bothered to redesign the console to reflect this.

You can make the PS5 look cool though. I have the dark gray translucent cover for my PS5 from dbrand and I think it looks pretty nice now.And I thought my PS5 was ugly.
Series X in black looks really nice, this looks terrible.
imagine having this in an adult living room. It's just white.....

The app takes forever for me when you change and save a simple device name, not sure why.You can put OpenWRT on it. But the app works fine.
How good looking was the Xbox One X though (in black)? Very nice bit of kit!The white color does look slick and premium.

I would actually consider buying if they offered it with 1TB and sold it at the normal price. It does look cool, but I like that Galaxy black one that's getting released, at least in pics it looks killer. I'd like to trade my launch XSX for it but can't be arsed.
