White Digital Xbox Series X is a very clean looking console

It looks clean alright. It is perfect for minimalist players who are new to the platform and prefer digital only purchases with their pros and cons.

It is also clean from your whole previous physical library of xbox, 360, xbox one and series games as well as any cd, dvd (dvd upscaling is not good to be fair), blu ray, 4k media you might have.

Sorry, I just see that there’s a huge void inside where the disc drive no longer exists and MS couldn’t be bothered to redesign the console to reflect this.

The Series S in black is the nicest console they’ve ever made. Shame about the ram.
Couldn't be bothered? Really. It takes a fair amount of effort to redesign a chassis and rearrange the components around it. Once that is done, now you need new tooling in manufacturing. In what planet is that really worth the cost? This is a cost effective solution. Sony went through the trouble to make the digital and drive version the same so there is a precedent there too.

Microsoft have obviously done this in the past. Both 360 and especially Xbox One went through several revisions. We can just assume it's not considered important this time. My take is that Microsoft are not interested in hardware anymore.

The savings on node shrinks just isn't there anymore. In fact it's probably the opposite.

This is that grass is always greener on the other side type thing isn't it.

launch a black console = boring and safe
release white version of said console = sleek and clean

launch a white console = eyesore and too loud
release a black version of said console = best thing since sliced bread.

I prefer black consoles or a solid fun color, not into white.
But, I'm very inclined to minimalist, straight lines, so I have loved Xbox designs since One X/S.
PS4 Slim/Pro is amazing as well, and I have been horrified with PS5.
Dont worry, PS6 will have straight lines too. Sony has a very clear design cadence when it comes to their consoles. Curves, straight, curves, straight, curves.... next one will be straight again.

Actually thought the White PS4 Slim was the best looking console last gen:

Not a fan of PS5 design. Digital Slim model isn't bad.

I know Xbox + discless consoles are two unpopular things on here but this thing is very aesthetically clean. Probably my favorite looking conole of this gen now...
Honestly Xbox has done great with the industrial design of this gen's devices, the non-joke special editions of Xbox consoles are insanely nice.

(I personally own the Halo Infinite version, it looks even more stunning in person, photos don't do it justice, my wife loves it too as it completes the decor too).

Should have had an option for an external usb disc drive support. Also, the mid gen refresh plans they had were obviously scrapped but had some nice improvements over this bare bones attempt.

Instead of doing special additional consoles like the Indiana Jones and his Great Ringpiece edition:

I think Xbox should offer more of their wraps. I thought that was a cool idea, but they've done only 3 of them iirc (Starfield and 2 camo ones). Bit of a missed opportunity.

Beauty is certainly in the eye of the beholder, because that has to be the laziest console design ever created.
I don't think the original design is lazy. It's cool how they actually got everything to fit in that size. The digital white is pretty lazy, though, yeah.

How was the original model of the PS5 received in Japan? The traditional wisdom was that Japanese gamers aren't fans of big, bulky consoles and that was one of the many reasons why the OG Xbox failed there.

It does look cool, but I like that Galaxy black one that's getting released, at least in pics it looks killer. I'd like to trade my launch XSX for it but can't be arsed.

I think the Xbox One X was the nicest looking console design wise that MS made. Series X isn't bad, and it borrows from the design language they used in the One X but it's I think it's okay, feels a bit boring at times, better than this white one though... IMO.

It's just white.....
Wake me up when they start releasing unique designs like:

You could do almost anything with that formfactor and all they do is black and white.
imagine having this in an adult living room.

Not even a tinder ho will stay once she this.

I went full digital during the 360 era. It was awesome for me when Xbox started their BC program as I was discovering new games in my list each month that I had previously purchased.

Even now, I buy movies and music on disc, but immediately get them on Plex and iTunes for the convenience of being able to use them anywhere.

If I was to look at the Xbox One X and Series X side by side not knowing any better
I'd think the One X was the more advanced model and the Series X was the last gen.

I agree it looks clean, but I was disappointed that they didn't even shrink it in size, much less use the leaked redesign.

The One X is still my favorite modern console design. Absolutely incredible how they managed to pack so much performance into a form factor that was even smaller than the One S, and have it be as quiet as it is, and run as cool as it does.

The Series X is a lovely looking console, though. The mini ITX silhouette has always been really cool to me, and the engineering speaks for itself.

As it's quite a basic shape, it would be good to get different covers to change the appearance..

Vending machine
Portable toilet
Tardis
Almost anything would make it look better

Series x just looks simple and well designed. No weird detachable covers, weird curves and extra stands. Sony was tripping this whole gen when it comes to design, all for the sake of nickel and diming people.

They did half of the work.

Actually looks pretty darn good! The black + green one looks even better!

Though I haven’t used my OG Series X in a while, I’d splurge on a Gears themed X in a heartbeat!
