White Knight Chronicles Media and Information Thread

Anyone else worried about this game?
Less than 2 months from release I thought we would have significant impressions / previews by now.
 
Honestly I'm not really a graphics whore on any level, can barely even notice dips in games with supposedly awful framerates (SOTC), but it amazes me people can't see the difference in the on- and offline modes. It honestly looks like an entirely different game to me. I can't get a decent picture, really, but if you check out the bit from about 6:10, 7:35:

Admittedly I don't know of a single-player shot that could be compared to this, but it's just the huge gap between the levels I see here and the levels I see in all the single-player shots which makes me think it's ugly.

Also, again, just watch the video to see Kagari's pictures in actuality, there is a world of difference. Not that it matters to me, I probably won't ever even play online, it's just a shock :lol

I'm extremely worried about it. Nevermind the art, the game looks slow, and the only impressions I've ever really read weren't of the positive nature. And I don't think Level 5 are gods, but rather makers of kind of mediocre but somewhat fun RPGs. But do we usually get significant impressions on most Japanese games? I honestly can't think of it.

Hope it turns out good :-\

I'm a bit worried with the technical issues when the game was in hibernation for a year. Then again, it wasn't playable on the show floor at TGS. I also have a gut feeling the online is going to be a disaster at launch.

Considering last month when they revealed the release date they said they were still finishing the game, I am not. It seems they'd rather focus on getting the game done than sending out previews, etc. Honestly, the less media the better. I'd like to go into the game without knowing much like I did for MGS4.

Man I just hope its good.
 
I kind of see the difference after watching the video but I don't understand why. If the PS3 can do it in single player with 3 AI characters why can't it do it online with 4 players?
 
I'm not worried. I believe the game will be good.

It looks fun, graphics are ok, I like the art direction, the main story seems solid and the online will just be a great plus.

It is my most expected PS3 game at the moment.

i hate you...i'll have the game in-hand but about 5000mi from my PS3 :(

i'm tempted to buy a PS3 in Japan to use at where ever i end up lodging/staying at just for this...
 
this reminds me of FFXI so much, especially the giant fights, i really hate it when the giant rotate instantly (shitty animation) when someone gets aggro, they should have made the transition smoother. Man now i'm skeptical about the game.

I'm guessing the scale of the online mode is so that they must scale back the graphics a little in order to get it to run without lag. Or maybe Japan and online games don't mix so well.

In last week's Famitsu, it was shown that Daisuke Namikawa will voice Leonard, and Maaya Sakamoto will voice Cisna.

New images shown in a Chinese magazine with the characters wielding different weapons such as staffs, axes, and bow and arrow. More battle shots.
 
Site also updated today.

Character: Dregias.
General and leader of Wizard.
There's some voice samples up for him too.

New concept art and locations under World.

Thanks for confirming what I thought was a rumor

Something I had edited off from that post, since I wasn't so sure, was a comment I did about SE.

Hope SE is looking and taking note, so XIII will have such a great VA cast as well.

don't know if it was posted here, but yeah it's old...we knew about it on 10/10...i may have just posted in 2ch though. oh and Yukino Satsuki (most recently voicing Sagara Misae in Clannad, but also from FMP, Inuyasha, Love Hina etc) will be voicing Yuri.

The voice cast so far is turning out to be pretty nice. I'm going to predict Ohara Sayaka as the VA for Karla :P

well, SE usually uses actors/actresses, not voice actors, so I wouldn't hold my breath.
 
Ootsuka Houchu as Dregeas / Black Knight

Really looking forward to this now...one of the best male VA's in Japan...personally would rank him above Wakamoto.
