The online mode has weaker graphics, but I dig the offline look. And those pieces of gameplay make me want this game more and more.

Not the best capture, but it works.

Yea..
The offline mode looks awesome.
Glad my worries about this game's graphics at tgs have been put to rest. But then again I did know that was online at TGS.

offline mode definitely looks awesome...much better than online graphically.

My only complaint is why do they show so much damn footage of the director talking....god damn, do you think we are watching this to admire the nuances of his mug!?!??!

Don't think this game is behind the curve at all...Fallout 3 does look very nice, but its also a little sterile and the animations are very poor...Mass effect looked good, but repetitive visually

This looks as good as those two to me in its own way. It looks very cohesive visually at least

The in-game models look so much etter than the ugly ones of the 2007 trailer, somethng I've been hoping desperately they would change.:D

The theme song is still just as awesome. :)

Yeah, this game definitely seems to be looking weaker and weaker graphically as time rolls on, but I'm far more concerned by that terrible combat footage than I am by the average looking visuals.

After seeing that video, I'm seriously bracing for another Infinite Undiscovery-level disaster with this one.

To me, at least, you simply can not hold an RPG together if it has lame, boring combat, and I'm sorry...but that shit looks janky as hell.

Hope I'm wrong, suspect I'm right.

eh its the guy who thinks TLR looks better than this...

You've been dropping junk on this game since day one though...so I got to give you props for holding it down with the rotten rhetoric straight from garbageville

the fuck? he

Video kinda dark :<
But they have an awesome building to work in.
Been a while seeing this in motion. Looks noice to me.:) Me and a few FFXI buddies of mine can't wait for it. I just hope NA and JPN can cross play online :<

Wow dude. Those who live in glass houses.......

Either way, the last post I made about TLR was actually a list of things that I'm concerned about. I ain't giving anyone a free pass.

Like Level 5?
Holy shit! Their offices are fantastic but gods. I like running around and bouncing off things and stuff.. I'd be afraid of breaking all that shiny expensive stuff! But sure looks nice as holy god I want to work there.

The animation in Shirokishi doesn't look too hot though and the HUD looks cluttered. Other than that good job!

Did I just saw a screen tear during the WK fight?

Edit:Yup,there is screen tearing...

Screen-tearing is a feature of the PS3, there's not a single PS3 game that I've seen at work to not suffer of this, and many developers don't bother (time, money, etc) on fixing it, and Sony does nothing more about it either, so a real shame.

Well, just watched the video, too bad it was so dark, so not good to get some screens out of it, but nvm.

The game looks great, and I finally got to see what that ring was about, pretty much a delay ring, to blend both RPG and ARPG styles, although you input the commands real-time, you have to wait for the delay to hit again and stuff.

I just hope all the delays are worked out in a manner that casting a spell won't make you have waiting a full delay to make a hit. For example say your weapon delay is 6 seconds, you hit, 3 seconds later you use a spell which takes 5 seconds to cast, after casting the spell, your hit delay would be up. What I mean is that I hope delays overlap each other, so you don't have to wait full timers after a spell, skill or attack, before performing a different action.

I can see how 'Haste' is going to play a major role when choosing armors, probably any 'Multiple-Attacks' stats too, if any.

Anyway, I really like the system, It is very FFXI-ish with the main difference that you have to press when to hit, although some auto-attack option for the offline grinding would be cool.

The music was great as well. My most wanted PS3 game (given release dates, since SE games are much further away).

Even Level5 is afraid of George Lucas's lawyers.

Anyway, not exactly the kind of tour I was expecting. It seems like it was aimed at prospective employees.

The girl giving the tour looks almost like my dad's secretary.

That looks...really average. Maybe calling it average would be being too nice. Even among JRPGs, it kind of sits in the lower-tier, graphically. Seems like the awesome animation from the original trailer was just bullshit. :/

heh I don't mind a glass house, it will keep me warm in the winter and allow me to grow tropical plants...besides I can always burn down your straw house if I need more warmth

fair enough, but I really haven't seen a nex gen rpg that offers much more visually...sure other games might have better lighting and textures, but also some unimpressive other aspects such as weak geometry etc

I know we had a thread on it before, but Level 5 really must be a bitchin' place to work.

As for the game itself, while I'm still excited for it, my hype has done nothing but diminish since more information has come out :( Looks uglier than I thought it would (though not bad), I don't like the style, the gameplay seems a bit slow... but I'll probably still be getting it when it does come out in the west :lol <3 the theme song.

Ugh at the online mode :-\

The off-screen single player looks great. Other than that it looks ok. About on par with recent JRPG:s.

Hope the story and characters are interesting.

What's this? Downloaded at 11 MB/s?

Damn those Ethernet speed limits! Must talk to admins, need gigabit, this is unnaceptable!!

i still think it's hilarious that they censored out the 360 rather poorly...to spite MS in regards to TFLO maybe? or maybe trying to generate publicity for the company on chatboards/forums?

Their studio is amazing.

The single player looks really good, I'm not that interested in the online mode. I don't know why they could've just showed the footage while he was talking instead of his face almost the entire time.

Waiting around to fight in a real time game is a really poor mechanic. It wasn't fun in ToD2 (the real one), and it doesn't look fun here. I could be wrong, but I expected better from Level 5.

Believe in Level-5.
They still have shown very little of the game to the public.

I like their offices.

Still not really hooked by the game though. The ideas/promises sound nice, but nothing about the game itself has really grabbed me at all.

Have you seen the latest scans?

Amazing studio...

Ever since they announced the online thing, I got kinda worried that this game would try to do too much, to incorporate too many different elements that it just degenerates into a mess without any clear identity. Its just nice to finally see how it plays out, although I'm still not convinced.

I also have no clue what was going on because of my lack of Japanese knowledge.

I don't see it either.

I thought, once seeing both (at a good size), that it was pretty easy to see the difference. The offline shots (and especially in the video) show models that look more in line with FFXI characters, while the offline ones have alot more polys and details.

In the single player, there is a lot more detail, polys, and whatnot.

Offline:

Side by side, you can see. The offline mode does have considerably more detail in everything from the characters to the ground textures and foliage. Seems to have better shadowing and anti-aliasing as well.

You are insanely anal and need to log off GAF to play some actual games. You're not going to fucking notice the graphics when you're playing.

Oh, who am I kidding? Gaffers don't play games. :(

*scratches head*

It looks the same, dude...

in motion it looks pretty damn different..have you watched the vid?

Those screens dont show it at all though

Don't even bother trying to reason with that guy, is just a waste of time.

And if he is being serious, then the dude probably needs some glasses.

i'm assuming the screencaps were taken under different conditions?

Yep, just waiting for more kinds of interesting feature.

Not really a person that's heavy on online stuff, much less with JRPGs, so I'm waiting to see more little unique things about the singleplayer game.

I think you're right. The text in the first one looks really really blurry.
