Dude. The game sucked. Being on the Xbox won't magically make it better. Hell, without the flashlight mod, and the dumbed down graphics, it'll be worse.

I'm a couple levels in, and I can confirm that you do not need the flashlight so far. In the PC, I specifically remember having the flashlight constantly out. This is not the case anymore. The environments also seem VERY different, and some scenes as well. The pinky-demon scene is HELLA scary now. While it may not look as sharp and clean as the PC version, it holds it's own and more. The framerate is solid, and the transition to and from PDA is fluid. You don't need the PDA in the coop game, either. The co-op plays much different from the single player, and the single player is much different from the PC version.
So far, I'd rank the single player about the same as, or slightly lower than, Chronicles of Riddicks'. Better than Unreal II's for sure. Better than the PC version as well. PCers got hosed.
So far, the only use I had for a flashlight was lighting up dark corners to make sure nothing was there. Rooms are illuminated for the most part. There's also a profuse of blood everywhere.
