None of those are really "giant".

This one Eleking
Haha it's supposed to be this

on mobile hope the pictures show up right.
Never watched anything but I have always like ultramans design does he count?

Eleking is my favorite Ultra-Kaiju and I almost had to puke when I saw that statue first.

He's originally from Ultra-Seven wich absolutely counts as giant monster show. Everybody should watch it.

Heisei Gamera.

The Heisei Gamera trilogy was some of the best kaiju films ever made.

As GAF's resident Godzilla expert I must choose Mechagodzilla (74) as my second favorite kaiju beyond Godzilla. It then goes King Ghidorah, Mothra, Gamera, Jet Jaguar, Gaira and Sanda, Titanosaurus, Anguirus, Rodan and so on.

This guy right here:

Although this post will only make sense to Dutch gaffers. This fucker haunted my dreams when I was a kid.

Either MechaGodzilla or the DragonZord (which is basically just a MechaGodzilla ripoff)

Next up would be Mecha King Ghidorah, because he looks cool and Godzilla vs King Ghidorah has the cool swerve at the end where
Ghidorah ends up having to save Japan

Biollante would get an honorable mention from me as well

I'd like to have a friendly challenge for that title some day ;)

I think the Rhedosaurus is pretty cool.
latest

Kind of cheezy, cause it was made in the 50's, but it was the most technically impressive giant monster movie for quite a while.

Ray Harryhausen knew how to make some damn good special effects.

Here's a few that stick out in my head....

Power Rangers monsters count, right?

tumblr_m7q34naMo21ralt7qo1_500.gif

I think the Balrog qualifies. I know he's not as big as, say, Smaug, but he's still a towering demonic wall of brimstone and death.

Speaking of the Middle Earth series, though...
Bow before the king of dragons, Ancalagon the Black. He makes Smaug look like a fly by comparison. I always wanted to see just THE biggest dragon, miles upon miles long, show up in an adaptation and just really blow everyone away.

For something more video game-y... The Mother of All Thresher Maws, Kalros. A creature so large and terrifying, she kills and eats skyscaper-sized REAPERS.

... I admit, I also find the Overfiend from Urotsukidoji one of the most legitimately terrifying giant monsters of all time.

This monster from the Powerpuff Girls. It was so funny how they tried so hard to beat it and all they had to do was ask it to leave. If it didn't want to listen to Bubbles then there would really be nothing they could've done.

As a G-Fan magazine subscriber, annual G-Fest attendee, and Godzilla collector I would too.

On that note, has anyone here attended G-Fest in Chicago? Probably the largest gathering of Godzilla fans outside of Japan (might actually include Japan too). Its a lot of fun, highly recommend to anyone interested in Godzilla or anything kaiju.

I don't think any other kaiju will ever be as good as Destroyah. Look at this marvelous demonic bastard.

Gentlemen please, I think this may be a 3-way match for that title. :)

You are all my friends now. I too would like to submit my application to join the league of NeoGAF Godzilla experts.

Especially Sephzilla for throwing in Dragonzord with Mechagodzilla which is basically identical to my answer, though I'd like to specify that my Mechagodzilla is the 1975 Terror version.

Tripods are sweet

I really loved the tripods in the 2005 War of the Worlds. So cool. No one forgets that horn.

This is a very accurate post.

The Daimajin series was also very, very good. If you ever want to see an angry god run amok, indiscriminately smiting puny humans, this is a great series.

And if the Millennium (1999-2004) series of Godzilla films faltered in any way, its that they didn't introduce enough new kaiju. I love the design of Orga, and Kiryu is my favorite incarnation of Mechagodzilla.

Backing up some that were already mentioned. Especially the dragon from Dragonslayer which remains immensely impressive as a menacing classical dragon.

Gamera, of course, pointing more to the excellent 90s trilogy incarnations. And the monster from Relic, a movie I for some reason tend to pop in the bluray player for background viewing.

I wasn't expecting Jason and the Argonauts and Clash of the Titans in this thread, good job Gaf!

I'll add the cyclops from The Seventh Voyage of Sinbad.

Shout outs to everyone mentioning angels from Eva and Lavos!

I'm no slouch in my Godzilla fandom either lol!

Seeing some really cool stuff in here. Don't know how I didn't put Biollante in my OP lol.

Godzilla-vs.-Biollante-splash.jpg

One of my favorite Kaiju ever, I like both the Rose Form and the Crocodile head form. Really unique Kaiju. Godzilla cells+rose cells+ spirit of a dead girl = What has science done! The film also started all the cool psychic shit with Emiko. Always been one of my favorite Godzilla films.

The Heisei Gamera trilogy was some of the best kaiju films ever made..

Absolutely.

Biollante is great indeed. I'm not a huge fan of that era (84 - Destoroyah) of Godzilla but that movie is the best of the bunch imo. Biollante is a fantastic creature design.
