Who are your favorite giant monsters besides Godzilla and King Kong?

1. Mecha King Ghidorah

2. Gigan has the coolest aresnal

3. Hedorah used to terrify me as a kid

Mecha-King Ghidorah might honestly be my favorite Mecha-Kaiju design. I like it even more than the various MechaGodzilla iterations, who are all really cool to me! The thing just looks so cool and slick. I want the S.H. MonsterArts figure so bad!

Is Smaug big enough? I think his design in The Hobbit is the best adaptation of a dragon in film.

A dragon is a pretty damn classic monster, and Smaug especially is quite immense and legendary. I'll absolutely allow it! Smaug made the Desolation of Smaug worth watching, very cool design and voice-work from Cumberbatch.

Sin, from Final Fantasy X.

I think what I like most about this monster when compared to most is that it doesn't show up in a climactic event. It's always lurking somewhere, it's invincible, and it always comes back. It shows up, does its monster thing, leaves and then comes back and does it again.

Cthulu and the biblical Leviathan, too. Sea monsters in general are really cool. Even Moby Dick is cool, and he's just a big whale.

Oooh, this is a good choice! I love FFX, and Sin was a very interesting monster.

Bring back gigan for the ultimae shin godzilla sequel.

I'd be down with this. An alien cyborg with hooks/chainsaws for hands. What's not to like?! Unleash the Gigan!

Internet fist bump

I really want to check this out. The description given earlier for this was really cool. This dude is basically a god?

Do Persona/Shadows/Demons from SMTverse count?

What about Angels from Evangelion.

Digimon?

No?

Okay then. :(

Angels are definitely kaiju in my eyes. There are also many Digimon who would count IMO, like MegaSeadramon for example. From what I played of P3 and P4, some of those things seem pretty big! Hard to get a idea of the scale though.

Gamera is really neat!
Gamera is filled with meat!
We've been eating Gamera!
Shell!
Teeth!
Eyes!
Flames!
Claws!
Breath!
Scales!
Fun!!

I love Gamera. His episodes are among my very favorites of the MST3k library.

And for my fellow cheapskates who only watch rabbit ears TV, CometTV (<-- live stream) runs Godzilla movies every Friday night.

Tonight's slate:
Terror of Mechagodzilla
Godzilla vs Monster Zero
Godzilla vs Mothra

As GAF's resident Godzilla expert I must choose Mechagodzilla (74) as my second favorite kaiju beyond Godzilla. It then goes King Ghidorah, Mothra, Gamera, Jet Jaguar, Gaira and Sanda, Titanosaurus, Anguirus, Rodan and so on.

I'd like to have a friendly challenge for that title some day ;)

Gentlemen please, I think this may be a 3-way match for that title. :)

You are all my friends now. I too would like to submit my application to join the league of NeoGAF Godzilla expert

I will fight all of you.

For me I'd think it'd have to be Mothra. I've always loved her design and her track record against the big G. But then again...Biollante's design is pretty boss, and Destroyah's just plain badass. I honestly can't decide!

Monster X is also pretty cool. Especially because his final form is...GASP King Ghidorah.

I dont actually like Final Wars all that much but I did think that Monster X/Kaiser Ghidorah was cool.

I think four legs suits Ghidorah better than two and having multiple forms is neat.

I pick Ghidorah for being the only monster bad-ass enough to take on Rodan, Mothra and Godzilla at the same time. He's Godzilla's prime enemy for a reason because a giant three headed Dragon from Space is awesome.

Followed by the original MechaGodzilla. It helps that the Showa series went out on a high note thanks to him being the final villain.

Something cute I wanted to share for a while:

The "Garamones" playing a punk rendition of the Ultraman theme.

Also check out Tsuburayas Channel for non-geolocked episodes of Redman (no, sadly not that one) for ultra-cheap vintage Kaiju action.
