Who else never finishes games?

Mr Gump

I just lose all interest and motivation real quick these days:

I get just past 50% of most my games.

Gamecube:
Rogue Leader - All regular levels in bronze, no secret levels
Pikmin - Like 25 parts found?
Super Mario Sunshine - bout 60%
Wind Waker - 2 more triforce shards to go.
Metroid Prime - Phazon mines.
Beyond Good & Evil: Blarg...
Twin Snakes: 2nd showdown with sniper wolf
Viewtiful joe: Cant remember, but over half way for sure
Paper Mario - Just got out of the town for the first time.
Zelda Bonus disk - 0%

PS2:
FFX - up to that fight with that flying lizard thing on the airship (suprised myself here considering how much i dont like about this game)
MGS2: Completed the main story (mark out moment)
Kingdom hearts: (Why did i buy this?)
Primal- 0.03% give or take a few
Jak & Daxter - bout 50%
Jak II - Bout 20%
Vice city - bout 10% then sold it.
Devil may cry - bout 50% (my ps2 died and is still dead)

Anyone else that just cant stay entertained for long enough?

Last generation, i finished quite a few games, but i was a young lad then...

My two most famous cases are with two of the most enjoyed games: FFVII and FFX. In both cases I just stopped playing at the final boss. Why do I have to spend 30 min beating a boss ? Fuck you Square.

Other games:

FFTA
Kingdom Hearts
Bomberman Generations
Bangai-Oh
Paper Mario
Fear Effect
Castlevania 64
Kuru Kuru Kururin
Mischief Makers
Castlevania Chronicles
R-Type Delta
Medievil 2
Tombi 2
FF VIII
Gradius III & IV
Ace Combat IV
Grandia II
Clock Tower 3
Skies of Arcadia
Billy Hatcher
Suikoden 1
Suikoden 2
Chrono Cross
Valkyrie Profile
Rhapsody
Star Ocean

Bah...The list is so large...I would never end. :P

Super Ghoul 'N Ghosts, getting to the last level and having to replay the whole game, FUCK YOU CAPCOM.

PS: It was a great game anyway, I just never beat it, hehe :lol

I can never finish any GTA game....I seem to just lose focus and get bored of them after a while....

yet I know if rockstar made something like GTA:New Jersey or something next I'd still pick it up for the initial few hours of fun.

I rarely beat a game...I get really far then lose my motivation.

RE4 is going to be the first I've beaten since Katamari Damacy and Halo 2 if all goes according to plan. There *are* certain games I must always finish though...mainly Mario and Zelda.

Here's my list

Resident Evil 3 Nemesis - sealed
Resident Evil : Code veronica X - sealed
Shenmue 2 - I'm somewhere at the end , lose my interest in it .
Amped 2 - To hard
genma Onimusha - Last boss , lose my interest .
Onimusha 3 - I'm somewhere in the middle , did also lose my interest .
Silent Hill 3 - Somewhere at the end , did lose my interest .
Sly Raccoon - At the last boss , but he's a bitch .
Time Crisis 3 - didn't play it much
Oddworld : Abe's Oddysee - Did lose my interest
Oddworld : Munch's Oddysee - Didn't like the game
OTOGI : Myth of Demons - im at the level where you must guide some sort of thing , i hate levels wheere you must guide things so is stopped playing
Splinter cell - Did lose my interest
Splinter Cell : Padora's tomorrow - Did lose my interest
Star Wars : knights of the old Republic - Playing it now , great game
Panzer Dragoon Orta - I was busy with unlocking stuff
Prince of Persia 2 : The Warrior Within - The bugs in this game stopped me playing
Project Zero ( Fatal Frame ) - Did lose my interest
The Suffering - Don't like it
Metroid Prime - At the last boss
Metroid Prime 2 - Key searching , never played it again
Paper Mario 2 - Somewhere at the last world
F Zero GX - To hard for me
Devil May Cry 2 - Hate this game , i only bought this because of DMC 3
Dark Chronicle - I hate random generated Dungeons
Final Fantasy 7- Bought this because alot of people praise it a ''best game ever'' , i stopped because the random encounters are just to much
Final Fantasy 10 - Somewhere at that flying ship with that dragon thing
Fequency - Expert mode is to hard
Half-Life - Last boss
Jak&Daxter - Last boss
Jak 2 - A race mission, to frustrating .
Kingdom Hearts - Hate this game
Maximo - Somewhere at the last world
Maximo VS the Army of Zin - That level where you must back up that king
Star Wars Rogue Leader - Hate this game
Zone of The enders : The Second Runner - In that level where you must take that girl with you .

Edited my posts with the reasons i stopped playing the games :)

Back then I could never play a game without beating it. These days I dont really feel like beating games throughly anymore.
Like Halo 2, I bought it specifically for Live...haven't touched single player at all. By the way anyone have openings in clans for me in Halo 2 check my stats you wont be disappointed Gamertag is iceDragon7

Last game I bothered beating recently was Minish cap. Only cuz its a Zelda game.

Just wow...

I also rarely finish games, although I do finish at least a few PC games a year. Console games are a different story entirely, and RE4 is going to be the first console game I finish since Halo (yes, the first one). Try and beat that drought?

Although that is if you don’t consider F-Zero GX or Soul Calibur 2, which I don’t. Winning a few races or fights isn’t really finishing them.

I'm usually pretty good about starting and finishing games pretty fast. This gen, my attention span became much shorter.

Xbox
Mercenaries: Just like to blow shit up, but without a chopper to get around quickly, I'm losing interest in completing missions anymore.

PGR2: Didn't like it that much, but it did hold my attention longer than most realistic racers.

PS2
Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne: Just became too much of a reminder of Hybrid Heaven despite the stylish graphics. Wasn't going to stick around if the story wasn't gonna pick up either.

Dark Cloud: Got to the third world and stopped. The game is terrible.

Grand Theft Auto III: Got 100 hours in, and was nearing the end when the PS2 erased the save. That was pretty much it.

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City: I would've played this longer if it didn't freeze nine times without letting me progress.

Phantom Brave: Got about 10 hours in and quit. Not my cup of tea.

Game Boy Advance
Tactics Ogre: Knights of Lodis: I couldn't get into this after playing Fire Emblem and Disgaea. Didn't even complete the first battle, because it moves so slowly.

Sonic Advance 2: Got to a mountain stage and stopped.

Rayman Advance: 28% of the way through and quit.

Rayman 3: Beat the second world and stopped.

Playstation
Vagrant Story: 2 hours in, and a rock creature keeps killing me.

Spyro: Got to the final boss, and stopped when I couldn't make one jump for the fifth time.

Haven't started yet:
Breath of Fire (SNES)
Illusion of Gaia (SNES)
Soul Blazer (SNES)
Tales of Destiny II (PSX)
Parasite Eve (PSX)
Spyro 2 (PSX)
Spyro 3 (PSX)
Alundra (PSX)
Wild ARMs 2 (PSX)
Wild ARMs 3 (PS2)

in just the first month of 2005 ive already beat more games than i did in all of 2004 (2, strangers wrath and the punisher).

That's the best thing I can imagine!
FFVII, FFVIII, Arc the Lad II, Breath of Fire series........ bosses, you have too fight through an hour or so.
Boy, the "end-boss" in a game is the strongest man/creature in the world (in the game), so.... what do you think? Beating him in 5 minutes?
I love that. Fighting a boss.... for an hour... awesome!
Great, big, epic battle!

Are you ppl that never finish most games the same ppl that can't understand the logic behind ppl that don't wish to be muli-console owners? Because every generation I've only ever had one console (except this current one) and I found I completed and basically got a lot more out of my games.

I can't understand ppl that just continue to buy heaps of games when they have piles of sealed games lying around waiting to be opened. N64 days for life yo ;p

I totally agree Red, I donÂ’t understand why people are obligated to buy games at launch when they canÂ’t play them (unless the game is going to become rare).

Maybe some people have money to burn???

So the only games I recall not finishing that I brought are

Legend of Kartia (psx)
Alundra 2 (psx)
Jurassic park (Snes), actually won it in a competition.

Sure I donÂ’t have a gold medal on 1 bonus and one normal gold medal in a game like rogue leader, and only 70%+ completion in GTA:VC but I still consider those games finished and healthy played.

If you mean beating the games like 100% everything accomplished, I've never done it in my life. I'm not a completist like the FF players that need 15 defferent strategy guides to get everything in the correct order. I beat GTA: SA, and I don't care if I never did the taxi cab missions or didn't find all of the clams. I beat RE4 about 10 minutes ago, and unless there's extra cutscenes (new ending) for beating the mercs and ada minigames, I won't play them. I will say this though, beating RE4 was an awesome experience because the game keeps you hooked right down to the final cutscene. GTA lost my attention about halfway through. I always end up beating a GTA game just to say I did it rather than actually enjoying the process.

I used to think that Action Replay/Game Genie was lame, but now I understand why older gamers use it. No one has the freaking time to learn meaningless combonations of hand twitches that are useless in esentially every other wake of life.

Props to the losers that write FAQs. I'm not sure why you dudes know every ending to every game the day after it is launched but your virginity saves me time. IE Metal Gear Solid 3. Great game, but if you get caught it is either a 2 minute wait or a 2 minute reset. I finished it on easy and there was no real incentive to finish it hard, not get caught, or get stamina kills because I already got the story/CG cutscenes.

Gamecube:
Pikmin - Like 25 parts found?
Super Mario Sunshine - bout 60%
Wind Waker - 2 more triforce shards to go.
Metroid Prime - Phazon mines.
Paper Mario - Just got out of the town for the first time.

Well, you're almost done with Pikmin. Finding the last part shouldnt be hard, you just need to go through the 5 areas and see which one is still around(the last boss battle is nice heh).

Super Mario Sunshine ----- Um, well it IS alot of shines to get lol

WW ---- The end sequence is very good, why stop now?

MP ----- You're approaching the end, but I can see how it'll get a little tedious at this point. But the action and enemies are much better now.

Paper Mario ----- Oh come on dude! It's a brand new game....

As for unfinished games I havent completed yet, I have a new Parasite Eve II and never touched it(finished the first tho). I'm also at the end of Legend of Dragoon and just been lazy to finish it off. I guess you can just call it laziness......

halflife 2 - lost interest. Physics system is pretty cool though.
doom 3 - cant run this game very well and just isnt anything special.
metroid prime 2 - loved MP1 but for whatever reason, this doesnt do it for me.
tales of symphonia - cheesey dialog kills it for me.
pikmin 2 - payed back the debt the first time then got over it.
KotOR - got upto the starforge and stopped playing.

For whatever reason these holidays i havnt been finishing games like every other time. Mabye ill get bak into them when uni starts.

In '04 I didn't beat very many games. In '05, as part of my new years resolution, I made a master list of a ton of games I've either wanted to A) complete or B) play as long as I could until I got completely bored of it. Either way, that's when I consider a game "completed" for me. There's a certain satisfaction to beating games and I've been missing out. My next few games that I'm currently working through are:

Halo 2
Half-life 2
RE4
Burnout 3
Jak III

Not a bad list (waiting for the best of the best has its perks).

Still in San Fierro in GTA:SA
I needed to restart MGS3 because I forgot the damn thermal googles and it's next to impossible to see that boss.
I'm still in the castle in RE4.

I have a ways to go

When I play a game I always try to beat it at the highest difficulty I can possibly do it. The only exception so far this year has been Half Life 2, which I got bored of in the Highway 17 level. If someone actually played me past the boring vehicle levels I would finish it.. The other game I'm playing to finish at the moment is Splinter Cell, which is very frustrating in later levels. I'm ripping my hair at the Chinese Embassy level at the moment..

GBA
Golden Sun: The Lost Age - I'm at some part late in the game, and I have no idea what to do.
Mega Man Battle Network - Found this game on the subway. Don't give a shit about it.
Metroid Fusion - Stuck on the last boss.
Mother 1 & 2 - JPN import. Really difficult to follow, even though I beat it on SNES already.

GCN
Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean - Brand new, still working on it.
Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem - One or two chapters from finishing.
F-Zero GX - Still need to beat the last chapter. GOTG.
Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee - I can't remember the last time I played this.
Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life - Boring, never finished year one.
Metal Arms: Glitch in the System - Stopped at chapter 11 I think.
Pikmin - Hate the 30 time limit. I was maybe 15 days into it.
Resident Evil - Stupid annoying dogs. I think I got one of the keys.
SSX 3 - Just lost interest.
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time / Master Quest - In Jabu-Jabu's belly, I've done it before but I can't remember how.
Viewtiful Joe 2 - I just got it!

PSX/2
37.
Tales of Destiny - JPN import, can't put the time into it.
Tales of Eternia - JPN import, can't put the time into it.
Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater - Brand new, I'm going to finish it soon.
Xenosaga Episode I: Der Wille zur Macht - Don't give a damn anymore.

It'll be easier for me to list the games I *have* finished this gen...but I think it's safe to say that 19/20 of my games go unfinished...I simply play them till they stop being fun then move on to something else...don't even know why I do this to myself...but part of it has to do with always getting games in bulk

Since Christmas I have beaten Metroipd Prime and Doom3.

My List

DC
Shenmue 2

XBox
Halo2
Splinter Cell
Burnout 3 (at 95 percent right now)

I'm trying to think back to the last game I finished, and it's either SMW for the SNES or Sonic 2 for the Genesis. Final Fantasy VII broke my will, before that game, I at least tried to finish games, but by the time I hit the major character's death in, I was already totally burned out on the game. Now, I just don't have hundreds of hours to piss away. At this point, getting to the 25% point is a major accomplishment for me. And yet, I still buy most consoles and a ton of games. It's not that I have buckets of cash to throw away, I buy almost all of my games once they hit the $20 price point or lower. For me, it's more about getting different gaming experiences. If Jet Set Radio Future gives me five hours of fun for $10, that's enough for me to be satisfied and move on to Midtown Madness 3 for $15 and ten hours of fun.

I'm just reposting my backlog, as it's basically the same thing. I'll try to edit the explanations where needed. Also, keep in mind that these are just games that sometime (I wanna say last summer), I had some inclination of playing again and finishing. There are many many more videogames which I've played for some time and have not completed. I may or may not come back and add all the DC and PSX and N64 games I haven't completed. There's really no way I'd remember anything before that. For those interested, I most certainly have not played a single one of these again even after amassing the backlog and asking advice on which to finish, although I vaguely intend to, sometime.

GC:
