I signed up for PokerRoom today. I first played $10, and lost that. Played another $10 and lost it. The same thing happened with the third $10 deposit. I still wanted to keep playing, and I managed to cut my losses completely using the 4th deposit. All in all, I was up $75. Then I got cocky and lost it all, and I lost even more trying to win it back. So, I'm $120 in the hole in less than 24 hrs :lol Good thing our exchange rate isn't as bad as it used to be.

Anyways, can it get worse? :lol.

Maybe I shouldn't laugh.

I am. I'm not that good though, as I'm strictly a beginner, so I only play the $2/$4 table at the casino. Problem with me is I can't quit when I'm ahead, so I've only came out with a positive amount of money once out of the three times I've played, even though I've doubled my money at one point in every game.

I like playing online too, but it's not the same at all (using fake money at least). I use Pacific Poker, you start off with $1000, and I'm up to $34,000 now.

My friends are addicted to it more than I. They always get a bunch of games going during the weekend with $15 buy ins, and about 20 or more people show up for each game. It's getting rediculous, some of the kids have blown aaround $300 in the past few weeks.

Fuck that, I'll waste my money on a more tangible addiction: Mary Jane!

I'm pretty addicted, but I don't play online. My group of friends has got a weekly game going. We keep it pretty simple: 2000 yen buy-ins and pay to play. No one wants to be writing checks, so the pots never get ridiculous. Monday night we played from about 7:30 to midnight. I ended up about 5800 yen.

I'm not addicted, but I love to play. I've come in first a few times for local tournaments down here in San Antonio. And I always rape my friends and take their money. Good stuff.

Wish I knew how to play. I should try it online and go from there.

I dont even know how to play, but i've gotten in some tight situations where i'm loosing and all the sudden i'm the chip leader. I started out with 2k (play money) and now i have 25k (too bad its not real) i have no freaking clue what i'm doing, but whatever i'm doing its crazy. I'm on the no limit games at partypoker.

oh god play money poker tables, now those are fun, got a 5,6 suited? 4 callers? shit im all in, hit the straight flush off the flop. Betting habits are a much bigger part of the game when its for real money, its an interesting thing to experience getting tells and reading your opponents is fun when you really start getting peoples habits down. Can really pull down some nice pots.

it's going to come out of you and it's going to taste so good
We used to get games together once or twice a week. Now we only play once a month if that. I guess people just got poker fatigue. :lol

Yeah, I was on a bad stretch of playing all the time online. I was winning some, but in the scheme of things not all that much for the time I was putting in. It became more about making money than relaxing and having fun. Of course I went on a good bad streak and dropped a decent percentage of my winnings playing at too high a limit. Poker got pretty old after that, and haven't been playing online since (probably 1 month or so).

I'm sure I'll go back and play some more poker eventually, but probably not for a while.

I used to be.

I was playing at least 3 times a week for a while since September 03. Sometimes, we'd go all five nights of the week playing poker, then start a game at like 7pm Saturday and play until 7am Sunday, $10 buy in some nights $20 other nights. I'm up about $7 this year...which isn't too good considering how often we play, but at least I'm not down. Last year I was down about $30 or so, at least. One of the guys I play with (I'm still not sure why he keeps playing) has to be down like $300 this year alone. Sometimes he buys in for $40-50 a night and loses it all. I actually feel bad taking his money sometimes.

I haven't actually played in well over 2 months, though, so I'm in remission now.

Pretty addicted.

I play all of the poker games pretty well, but my main strengths lie in Limit/Pot Limit/No Limit Hold'em, and 7 Card Stud & 7 Card Stud H/L. These days, I play mostly online @ PokerStars.

When I first started out four years ago, it was in a home game with a bunch of friends, but over the past year or so, I've started to take my game really seriously. I've studied various poker texts, and from there moved onto 2/4 & 4/8 Hold'em at the local casino, and pretty much everything else online.

No longer as much as I was. I used to really be into it, but had a falling out with some of my old poker crew. Now just play every weekend in a local game. I'm not too addicted although I did spring for the nice clay chips, was only $100 for 1000 of them:)

My friends and I used to play a shitload last year. Now, I haven't played in a while, and when I do, I'm terrible. Online poker with fake money is stupid, so I don't do it.

5 hours later, and 80 more dollars lost.

I blocked myself from logging in. I can totally see myself ruining my financial situation :lol

i should start playing hold 'em, one of my friends is up $16000 online in about 7 months, and his friend is up $160000 in the same amount of time. it's pretty mind-boggling.

I play, decent... but I'm coolheaded enough to know when not to sign up for that online crap... it would eat away at me.

$16 000 is easily achievable, but the $160 000 is highly suspect.

It's certainly do-able if you're four-tabling low limit games for eight hours a day, but nobody would have time to do that unless they don't have a day job.

well seeing as they're both students, they don't really have day jobs to interfere with poker

i don't think they're playing low limit games either

edit: come to think of it, i don't think all of that is from playing online though...the one with 160k made the bulk of that online, but the one with 16k plays more at casinos

That would explain it, then. However, they'd still need to put in quite a few hours, just to survive the variance to make $160 000.

But hey, if you've got the money to play at high limits, that's all the better.
