The reason why people don't like trans-fats is because it's a man-made fat that significantly increases the risk of heart disease. It's not something like saturated fats that do have a purpose but should be consumed in moderation. Every diet should have absolutely 0 transfats.

Transfats if anything reduce flavor. Sort of like like how pesto that uses soybean oil instead of olive oil totally lack flavor.

Some occur naturally in red meat...

...And the small amounts that naturally occur don't have the heart-wrenching qualities of the ones that are man-made.

Didn't they switch over their fries a while ago?

Just in test markets while they were trying to figure out a new magic formula.

You know, mcdonalds gets a lot of shit, but they get a lot of credit from me for being brutally honest about what's in their food. No other fast food place I know of has their nutrition chart printed not only on their tray-lining, but on the packaging of the food itself. You always know what you're getting yourself into with McD's, and it's not like the other fast food places are any better.

Taco Bell is awesome, fuck you.

I haven't eaten Taco Bell since that beef recall in 2006 I think it was :lol

Mcdonalds on the other hand, I haven't eaten since I was 7 after I refunded my Happy Meal all over the table at a birthday party.

In NYC, none of our food outlets are allowed to use Trans Fat. It's been about a year now, it was a smooth transition for consumers. Not sure about restaurant owners.

While moving away from hydrogenated oils is a start, using refined vegetable oil for frying really isn't much better.

their hotcakes are just amazing. delicious sponginess. the sawmill gravy and biscuits is likewise also probably the best i've ever tasted.

McDonald's the best laxative I can get. I don't know why but after a rare lunch there, I always go to the bathroom about ~30 minutes later, and it always smell horrible. I always said that McDonald was predigested food cooked into something that looks "good" and tasted "good" with the amazing amount of Sodium in each meals. :lol

Didn't they get sued and had to do this?

Either way, I don't eat at McDonalds. Personal choice mostly, watching what I eat.

One thing that freaked me out was that the grease is transferred in and out of them from some sort of valve on a truck. Looked like a fire hose or something. Just seemed gross.

I don't see why. There are no laws about providing that information and no one else has been sued to do it. If that's the case, it's news to me. Certainly they've had a huge amount of public pressure to do things like that, and all restaurants are under some degree of pressure or another to do it, but McD's has gone the farthest in 'packaging honesty' while the rest of the industry hides behind some really retarded arguments (mostly that providing some information is somehow more dangerous than providing no information).

mcdonald's fries were much better back when they used beef tallow.

Now the only fast food fries i really like are arby's curly fries. Yumm.

I had Maccas last night for the first time in what must have been two or three years. I had a bad case of the munchies and it was incredible, yet not entirely satisfying/filling.

Now (right picture) and in the 1920's (left picture). I liked him more when he was a lazy, fat, chain smoking bastard :)

Isn't it the other way around ? Left is now, right was in the 1920's ?

All that biking made him slimmer.

*edit*

damnit, beaten :(

That's the story I heard, too, but it seems iffy. The only way it would work is if the suer was winning and said "instead of truckfulls of money, print nutrition facts on your wrappers" and McD's agreed. If there were laws involved, other chains would have to do it too.

VOOK

We don't know why he keeps buying PAL, either.
