Who's getting a Xbox 360 at launch?

All signs point to yes.

All I need is a graphics whore game like DOA4. If there's a game of serious substance, like an RPG or something, that's the icing on the cake.
 
I've bought most every console at launch,and being that I've been real happy with the Xbox I'm going to be there on day one. I have no idea whats coming for the new system later this year,but then I've never had to worry about poor 3rd party software support for the system so I'm confident there will be games to lure me in come late this year. Any decent Japanese games are icing on the cake,because I lean towards Western games anyways. I hope SEGA are there once again for Microsoft though,that's the one company I'd like to see on board.

xbox has been the best console I have ever owned.

Looks as tho 99% have said yes so far.......what the hell happened to GAF? I remember this place as the largest anti xbox forum on the internet. Wow, things have done a 180 here.....or should I say 360? hehe

"Who's getting an Xbox at launch?" That's the question. It's like a classroom. The professor asks "Who has a job?" People raise their hands. The other folks don't say "No."
 
i guess we don't know much about the 360's lineup (can i start calling it "the 360?"). of the known stuff, only oblivion really interests me, and given bethesda's qa history, i might opt for the patchable pc version. perfect dark zero could be great, though it's hard to say with rare. ninja gaiden 2 would certainly seal it, but i don't care about doa. a bungie game at launch seems unlikely, but if halo 2.5 exists, then sign me up.
 
I think this topic more accurately asks "Who is getting an Xbox 360 PERIOD?" since most of these folks aren't getting their consoles on day one anyway. And that lends itself to such questions as "Were you satisfied with the first Xbox?", "Are you content to hang around with this generation?", and "Are you waiting for the PS3 instead?"

ah speevy and his eccentric ideas of what the real question is. anyway: i like the xbox, i love halo, and i'll certainly get a 360 by the time halo 3 comes out. but i dunno about launch.

To answer that question with "No I'm not." is a pointless answer. Simply not replying to the thread is enough. Surely you get this. Read it several times.
 
I'm going to wait and see whether or not the launch lineup kicks my ass. If this is the case, then yes, I'll be lining up for one on the first day.

* fyi, the fact that MS got Q studios on board already means they'd probably get my money for the console. I just want to see what they can come up with, and well this is Australia. I predict a pricedrop within 1-2 months. If I wait, I can save 100-300 (my guess).

I wasn't referring to your valuable contribution to this thread. I was referring to the content of your opus of board posts, and the staggering volume thereof.
 
Happyness=new gen's 1st HW on day 1. Add in Live... PGR3, PDZ, Oblivion, Kameo, AHHHHHHHHHHHH... Live, Sports. ALL IN HD!!! Oh yea. and on LIVE!!!

This is going to be a KILLER holiday!!!

MTV thing is brilliant; folks we are WEEKS away from the unveil!!
 
based on what i've heard so far, the only game that really has me salivating is oblivion, so whether or not i buy one at launch will depend on oblivions release date. All the games being unvieled at e3 could change that though.
 
yes, I'll probably be buying xbox 360 + pgr3 very near launch. I'll just wait a little to see if there are any major defects with the hardware that needs to be avoided.
 
All hardcore gamers will, unless they can't afford it at that time.

I plan to get it on the first day. I hope they let us set up a demo that morning (or a few days before) at the BB I work at...I've never worked game retail at a console launch so I don't know if it's the norm.
 
Wasn't it revealed in the latest game informer that SSX4 wouldn't be released on nextgen consoles? Or is it that EA can't discuss anything about Xbox360 development?

Either way, if SSX4 is at Xbox360 launch I'm there. :D
 
i will start saving soon. if perfect dark zero is a launch title and it looks as good as PD64 then i'll be all over it.

which makes me wonder, is it pretty much certain that pd0 will be a launch title? a lot of you think so...
 
Nope.

I'll wait until a price drop or when at least there are A LOT of games I want on it. So far there are maybe 2 or 3 games I want on the xbox, so if it has a similar lineup I might not get 360 at all.
 
Currently I'm likely to plump down the bones for this with the following E3 caveats

1. Euro launch is this year
2. Launch games / window games are AA-AAA
3. Announced *decent* support from:- Konami, Capcom, Tecom and Rockstar

All signs point to all three of these criteria being fulfilled, however one of the most important IMO is:-

4. Give me XBMC or equivalent. That is all. :D :D

Also, anyone expecting Perfect Dark Zero on Launch day seems to be forgetting the developer...

If there is a Rare title on launch day it will be Kameo IMO. :lol
 
Unless MS monumentally screws up the lineup (i.e. assuming it's of least regular quality) or some other aspect of the system, I will get one...if I have a job by then. If not, no, I'll be waiting.

In other words...hopefully :)
 
I doubt I am gonna get it unless Okamoto's exclusive game turns out being something really awesome.
In my opinion the lineup is pretty uninteresting [the games rumoured so far]...but well, I doubt MS doesn't save some surprises for E3 and the later months so perhaps I'll change my mind. Anyways if XBOX is any indication about how the lineup will be then my answer is no, not at launch nor ever.
 
I'm really not ready for this gen to be over yet. Enjoying my Xbox now and have a fairly sizeable backlog of games to play through.

That said, I doubt I'll be able to resist the allure of the new system. Been quietly squirreling away funds since the beginning of the year because I know I'll get drawn into it all. A good FPS like PD0 and a good RPG like Oblivion at launch and I'm all but sold.
 
MS should come in and offer one prelaunch to GAF members that likes the Xbox. Not leave us poor, shrunken albinos to tread into the scary light of the outside and risk getting diseases from 'other people' :shudder:
 
(Without reading the thread): Not me.

If it's any consolation to Microsoft, though, I doubt I'll be getting any of the next gen consoles at launch. I learned my lesson this gen.
 
depends on what kind of job I get in the summer. I will be mostly saving for college because I fucked up my budget for the 2004 winter semester.

edit: probably not, too much good stuff coming out for PS2. I will wait to see how the Mistwalker RPG's turn out.
 
I keep tossing the idea around. Should I? Shouldn't I? I'm leaning more towards becoming a cheap gamer these days, but I have that new tech itch still.
 
Probably not (hell I just got an Xbox a few months ago!), unless by some divine force, one of the Mistwalker games or a Q! entertainment game is out at US launch. Do plan on picking one up down the line...
 
Definitely. Though not without reservations about the micro-transaction plans. Time will tell. I'm doing it because

1)I'm addicted to the LIVE format and I think it will be even better. Their the only console manufacturer who seems to know what their doing with an online service.

2)It was their first console and all told, it ended up having a more compelling gameplay experience than Nintendo. That's fucking amazing.

3)I'm a game tech whore. I won't be able to resist another box that plays more games. That's why I'll probably get all 3 when its said and done.
