Who's interested on Conflict: Global Storm

It is easily the best Conflict game yet, but nobody talks about it...

I know, I know, poor man's Ghost Recon, whatever, but I am enjoying it.

Me. :)
Loved the Desert Storm games, hated Vietnam. Glad to see Global Storm being more like Desert Storm.

I would LOVE to see a Conflict game on PS3 using the dual HDMI output for co-op, having your own screen would make co-op play much easier.

Is anybody playing the Xbox version? The PS2 one is quite good looking, but the framerate is awful, like 20fps with slowdown (smoke grenades are almost painful)

What a coincidence. I've just finished the training session of the PS2 version and turned off the system.

I wont put this shit in that tray again. Yeah, I hate sub-25 frame rate 3D engines. Expecially when THERE IS NO FUCKING REASON FOR THE GAME TO SLOWDOWN AND GERK WHEN GRAPHICS ASSETS AND FX ARE SOOO SUB-PAR.

SOCOM is smoother and more detailed.

I also hate the team orders controls. Seems stupidly complicated.

EDIT: Byw, italian version has some typos in the texts too ("Give to..." = "Dia a..." - instead of "Dai a..."). Good job Eidos!

Well, I have to partly disagree. While it is not pure eyecandy and it is true that FX are pretty meh, most assets are quite decent and almost everything has detailed textures. I don't really think that SOCOM is better looking.

It is 100% true that the order controls are retarded. Too damn many button combinations for its own good.

Well, as I said, I didnt go past the training section, so it can get better graphics wise.

But I'm pretty sure soldiers models are less detailed than SOCOM's marines.

sorry but thats not the impression i have from my play on the ps2 version, also the training session gfx are horrible vs the real game

Actually is getting worse. I've just done the breakout part and man that was running at about 15fps. Hopefully the game runs smoother on Xbox, but the frame rate is really killing its potential here, on the PS2.

Giving orders is still a pain in the ass (WHY DOESNT THE GAME PAUSE WHEN I BRING UP THE ORDERS LIST?!?), but I really like how you can cure your teammates to bring them back into battle.

im going to be playing the hell outa this game soon enough :D

me and 3 friends have played through the other 3 (ok well we played through all of the first 2 more than once and Vietnam about 95% through :P ) i cant wait to play the game !

gogo Foley !

Edit: I tried playing the game solo once....woah boooring 0.o

you need to play with at least 1 other person :P

Do you have an old PS2? That may be because of a bad DVD drive, the first mission is noticably better than the training level in that regard. It runs @ 25 fps (no 60Hz selector, booo) with some slowdown at certain parts. Graphics are much better looking too, mostly because the level is brighter and you get to see more details. I particularly like the texture work, the game runs in 16 bits mode but they are still nice.

For those wondering about how hard it is... the game is kicking my ass in medium. It is the first game in maybe 20 years that I've had to play in easy. Then again this has a lot to do with me playing this kind of games on my PC, with a nice keyboard. The whole orders menu is so complicated it's crazy and as TTP says it doesn't stop the action. That's the worst part of the game as most times I die I am getting killed while giving orders.

It is still really enjoyable.

Sounds like Desert Storm 2 on PS2. :lol

The framerate in that game sucked major ass, so much sucking it made me stop playing it. I haven't touched a Conflict game since that experience and I don't plan on doing so until next gen.

Has the ordering interface changed drastically from the Desert Storm games? They were both very intuitive for me and a major factor in why I enjoyed them so much. I far preferred them to Socom's ordering interface.

I must confess that I don't remember how it was in the previous games. In GS you just press the orders button and a small menu shows indicating most of them (which are accomplished pressing another button)

The only problem is that the action keeps going so you'll get killed many times until you get used to it and retain most commands.

Right. Well the first two games had very nice and easy to remember shortcuts for almost everything.

If they add online coop, I will buy them, this splitscreen only crap is a waste of time.
I've always used it for an alternate view of the battlefield. This ignores the hilarity of the rotating corpse-cam.

How's loading in this one? I remember the first one being unbearable on PS2.

Wow, I am loving it! Best Conflict game yet indeed. Seriously, give it a try, I am having lots of fun with it even being as damn hard as it is.

Oh, and the main menu is a Halo rip-off like few others =P

Question for other players: are jeeps worthless pieces of junk or is it just me?

Just picked this up and played midway through the second mission on normal before getting my ass blown away by a hind. This game kicks the shit out of the previous. Much better AI, hitboxes, HUD, scopes, animations, plays smoother, etc. $40!!! It has live multiplayer Schafer!!

More people need to try this game. My favorite multiplayer series this gen, and one of my favorite overall :(

Oh, and the name is Global Terror. ??
