I've always trusted only my own taste. My childhood was a bad influence, there was no internet, and reviews weren't available. All I could rely on was my instincts, and maybe a few photos in a magazine. Mistakes happen, of course, but not often, my gut feeling usually doesn't let me down. I've even forgotten the last time I read a review or watched the video review.

Steam reviews and then watch a video of gameplay.

As much as I like people like Civvie and watch his videos, he likes some shit that I don't. That's totally cool.

Hence why I find something I like, check the aggregate user reviews, and see how it plays before pulling trigger.

I find people who call themselves "professional gaming reviewers" to be a sad joke in the year of our lord 2025.
