Why are comic book movie fans so snobbish about comic books?

I'm snobbish when it comes to comic books. I think the movies mostly trim out all the comic booky parts of the comics which makes them better. Doesn't stop a shit movie from being bad but the greatest comic book movies are way better than their source material.

The movies are an alternate universe type of thing. It's not a direct adaptation.
Like a lot of comics. Change the writer and his take on the character can be different, the setting can be different, and possibly an entirely different alternate universe from the entire company. There are very few characters who have a definitive version, only fans who expect the character to have a definitive version that they want.

There are some stories that get direct adaptations. I'm thinking about DC Animated making movies like Flashpoint, which is awesome. Animated shows and movies are much better suited for direct adaptations of comics IMO. Watchmen would be one live action movie that is pretty close to the comic version. A lot of the dialogue is directly from the comic.

I have literally never seen this happen.

On the other hand, I've seen the opposite happen quite a bit. Comic readers talking about the movies with this smug attitude of, "I read the source material, so I'm more entitled to talk about this than you," and talking about how much better the comic was with some of their complaints boiling down to, "It's bad because it did it differently from how the comics did it." They're not as bad as Game of Thrones book readers, but they can get pretty annoying at times.
