Also, does it actually die on you or do you just notice the battery level getting low quickly?
Wow that's interesting, never knew about that.
Currently it's at 42%. I've probably done about 2 hours of internet browsing since last night when I unplugged it at 100%. It says the full charge capacity is 6126mAh with 2461 remaining. Is that enough to get a new battery through Applecare?
I don't know if there's a hard cutoff, but I've mostly used Mac laptops going back about 15 years now to the iBook G3 and basically any time I've been under warranty and had a real battery problem they've solved it. 6126 is not awful, but it's more of a decay than I'd normally see after a year of use.
How many cycles do you have on your battery? They're generally rated for about 1000. Normally after a year 100-200 would be a reasonable number, 300 maybe if you're a very very high user.
Oh I didn't even notice it shows the # of cycles. It's 201.
I think if you have a 25% reduction in max battery capacity after 200 cycles, that's a bad sign. I'd certainly pop over to an Apple store if you have one near you (make an appointment, otherwise you'll have to wait forever) and see if they'd do the replacement!
done on purpose to make you buy the new phone in a year
my 6s battery is the shits and shuts down at 33% now
iPhone 6 Plus here. While the battery isn't as good as it was the first year or so, it still lasts a whole day and then some.
My iPhone6 is fucking spectacular with its battery life.
->While I don't disagree, people are mishandling their battery like you won't believe. "Hey lets charge THE WHOLE NIGHT"
This is not true. Basically any belief you have about magic things you need to do to keep your battery safe is false. Just charge your phone when you're not using it and and then use your phone when you want to. You don't need any further strategy.

...but not for as long. Heat is simply not good for your battery.Uhh welcome to the new millennium where chargers are intelligent. I do charge every night and my devices are fine.

The battery on my 5S goes crazy sometimes. At times it's amazing, losing only a couple percentage of charge in like 7 or 8 hours on standby. At other times, I lose 20% of the charge in an hour when I didn't even touch the phone.
It'll still get charged to keep at 100%.What heat? A charge circuit will not allow the battery to continue receiving current above full.
The Apple programmers has implemented a clever "trick" where the 100% charge will show until about 93-94% actual charge to make people feel like there's less battery drain. The battery on my 5S goes crazy sometimes.
