Why FedEx >>> UPS

My PSP was scheduled to arrive from LA to SF on April 1 via FedEx, but because the package arrived in the Bay Area yesterday, they're delivering it today.

In contrast, many times previous, UPS has left the package in the hub two miles away from my house for as long as two days because it was scheduled on a certain day.

Yeah, rant of the day.

Um... this is the EXACT opposite of my experiences...

When Amazon ships things out from their NJ warehouse via two-day shipping with UPS, I get it next day because I'm in NY. When the same happens with FedEx, they hold it at their hub until the second day.

i hate UPS cause the fuckers won't drop a package off in my apartment front office. i'm at work and live alone so i obviously can't sign for a package when it arrives. Fedex is nice and will at least leave it in the front office if i'm not there.

Heh, UPS will leave my packages at the front office, but FedEx and DHL will not.

UPS is clearly superior, and I'm not saying that just because of the muscly men in those tight brown shorts....

Same here. UPS gives some bullshit about how some people got something they didn't sign for. Then why the fuck do you leave the stupid note on the door for me to sign. I sign it and it's still not valid? Why the fuck are you wasting my goddamn time by even making it an option?

That's what signature releases are for. If they had one of yours on file they would also leave their packages at the front office.

I like FedEx more myself. We had a really nice UPS truck driver though, so that gives UPS some brownie points. Still, not enough to displace FedEx as my favorite.

The real suck is USPS. I ordered some games from overstock 2-3 weeks ago and the damn package has been sitting in Atlanta for over a fucking week.

UPS left a pretty big package under my welcome mat. It was pretty obvious there was something underneath. 'Nuff said...

Yep, USPS still sucks.

I have an order from Overstock.com that was shipped on March 17th. Around March 21st and 23rd it leaves Atlanta (I'm in Hunstville). That's fucking right, it leaves Atlanta twice, two days apart. That's the last I've heard of it.

I contact USPS, they tell me to go fuck myself when I ask for compensation. Basically they said it'll come or be sent back to sender, and that they have no guarantee when they'll make delivery if at all.

FedEx delivered my iPod at, like, 5pm on Christmas Eve in Dec. 2003, so they're forever good in my book. UPS, too, is also great.

The USPS, which Amazon seemingly uses at random, sucks huge balls.

UPS is okay when you get your packages. When something doesn't show up, they're a fucking pain in the ass to deal with. I've never been more annoyed by a customer service department in my life. For example:

They "forgot" my package one day, which I spent a decent amount of money for overnight shipping on. I called, they basically told me too fucking bad and that they didn't care it was their fault (in nicer words). It was about 10 AM, but apparently they won't just throw it on another truck for me.

I planned on being there that day, I wouldn't be able to be there the next day. So I call, asking to change the address because of their mistake. They wouldn't. Since it wasn't taken out on the truck it didn't count as an attempt. You need at least one attempt before they'll change the address. Apparently an attempt that includes forgetting my package doesn't count. So I ask to pick it up. It's not available for pick-up, I'm told.

So I go out. I come back and guess what's on the door? A sticky note saying I wasn't here for my delivery. What the fuck? I was told it wasn't coming. I check the tracking site, which had changed since the last time.

So I call them again. Apparently I missed their cut-off time by ten minutes. They'll put in the address change for me, but it won't go through till after the next attempt. Despite the fact that they're all in the offices and the trucks don't go out till the next day, they will do nothing about it. Policy is policy, but it was their fault. I shouldn't be stuck with that.

So, the next day comes. I actually am home that day (unlike what I had planned), but the site winds up saying "Package forgotten" again. So I leave. I come back to another slip saying I missed the package. Two times?

Finally the other address gets my package. Three days after I was supposed to get it. Nothing from UPS but insinuations that I was making things up when I called them. Two of the three people I talked to were snappy when I was completely nice and calm to them. The third guy was nice, at least.

Even a fucking apology or admittance of a problem on theif behalf would have been nice. I totally avoid them now. It wasn't the first time I had to deal with shit like that.

I can't stand UPS. The last three experiences I've had with them have sucked.

The first time, tracking info said my package had been delivered, but there was no trace of it. They told me to check with the management office, it was left there. No, it wasn't. I called back. Turns out it was never delivered. They had to make another attempt the next day.

Second time, I ordered something from Lik-Sang and paid a shitload for UPS shipping. Once again, tracking info said my package had been delivered, but there was no trace of it. I called. Turns out the delivery guy dropped it off the next street over. Why was my package "left" in the first place? It was signature required. I would've been pissed if someone had stolen it.

Most recent time, I missed a package they were delivering to me on Friday. Re-delivery was supposed to be made today, and I confirmed it. I skipped my last two classes so I'd be here to sign. They never showed up. Called, and it never even went out. Trying again tomorrow. Nice.

I hate how they can't leave it at the door or in my mailbox :(

Last time I ordered from UPS, I kept missing their delivery attempts, so one day I made sure to stay home. I was in my basement (about 8 steps from the front door, you just walk straight down from there) playing SSX3 with the speakers up.

I started playing around 12, and the guy hadn't come yet since there wasn't a sticky on my door. All good.

So around 2, I'm wondering where the guy is, because the days before I'd get home around 2ish, and a note would be there.

I go upstairs to check/let my cats out, etc.

Whaddya know? A sticky. On the door.

On the screen door actually. I had left the main door open to let the sunshine/breeze in (yeah that sounds weird :lol).

So wtf? I figure they rang the doorbell once, but I didn't answer cuz I didn't hear it. Though honestly, I'm pretty sure I would've heard it, I always do! When you ring the doorbell at my house it makes some messed up sound on top of the regular ringing.

I guess that UPS bastard was just too lazy, and left a note. It was pretty obvious someone was home, from the sound and open door.

Fuck you UPS, fuck you! I have a shipment coming in (probably Friday, I HOPE, I don't wanna wait the weekend) and they better not fuck up!

Update:

USPS never delivered my overstock.com package. Instead, they waited 3 weeks and sent it back to overstock. Overstock took it as a return and charged $10 in return fees.

Overstock charges return fees?

I just swithched to organic bathroom products, and sent back a 15-pound box of stockpiled, unopened items like shampoo and body wash back to Amazon.com, from about a half dozen orders, some going back seven months ago. They won't charge me return fees. :D

Just curious, why the return?

teh-pwn: So what's happening to your package? Will it be sent back to you AGAIN? Or did you just get a refund or something??

Sometimes I wonder, how hard it is to deliever something from motherfucking point A to B.

FedEx is the best I've dealt with, DHL was the worst (They shipped my Dreamcast to Brussels, Belgium before they brought it to me-- oh yeah, it was an overnight delivery, too). I've never had problems with the USPS. My mom works there so I'm encouraged to do my shipping there. Priority Mail is a bargain. I'm hoping against hope the the government doesn't privatize USPS...

Maybe it was unclear, but I returned the stockpile of NON-organic products, since I'm not going to use them anymore. It's better to get a refund then just throw them out.

USPS sent it back to overstock. Overstock processed it as a return. They gave me a refund but they considered my two items as two seperate orders and charged $5 for each.

So basically I had to wait for 3 weeks to get ripped $10.

I sent an email demanding they recredit that or that I would never shop there again.

I've learned my lesson. Never use USPS for that stuff, and maybe never use Overstock again.

USPS Air seems okay though. I order dietary supplements from New Zealand and it usually takes 5 business days to get to me. Impressive, since it's from fucking New Zealand and it takes about a day to process in US Customs.

Call your credit card company, explain the situation, and get the $10 charge reversed.

I actualy prefer the USPS, they don't play the "leave the package lying around for a few days" game, and priority mail is cheap. I live about 15 miles from NCSX, and I always use priority mail from them (you have to call them to get priority mail, its not on the website) and it always comes the next day. Overnight shipping for $5 is a great deal, especially since when I was buying from Japan Video Games and got UPS, it cost me $20.

Oh yeah, FedEx never delivered my PSP because they made an attempt at 12:03 when I showered at 12:00. Had to pick it up, but overall, I didn't really mind. Not as bad as 8PM UPS delivery times.

They're both hit or miss. They won't drop off packages at your door unless you sign a waiver that says they can drop it off, but they are not responsible for any lost packages. Bad idea I say...

FedEx Ground really sucks ass, as they're really operated differently from FedEx. You pay more for FedEx, but if you pay for overnight, it WILL get there, no doubt about it... I've FedEx'ed plenty of stuff for work...

As for UPS, I've gotten stuff promptly from them in great condition, including a 32" WEGA. They're overnight is a bit spotty though... I've had three packages that arrived a few hours late, but I always ask for refunds if it's important...

Lately, the UPS guy has been throwing packages onto my balcony. I guess it's a step up from leaving the packages on my doorstep to be stolen.
