Why has Crash Bandicoot never received the movie treatment like Sonic?

Sonic never died out like Crash. Even though the games were bad and sold not so good, Sonic always had some media outside of gaming going on such as TV Shows and comics.

Crash has still sold over 35 million units—that's nothing to scoff at for an old franchise. Which is exactly why taking it into other mediums could help breathe new life into it.

After PS1 era Crash evaporated, we got some games like R&C or Jack & Dexter or even Sly Cooper that took the stage during PS2 era.
If it wasn't for the cool remaster nobody would care about it anymore imo.
The poor management of the franchise is well known, but as a platformer (and God knows there aren't many left), the fourth game wasn't a commercial flop—far from it. Compared to that, Sly Cooper is way more niche and unknown to the general public.

The games are great, but Crash has 0 cute appeal. He also lacks a defining characteristic like Sonic. He spins like the Tasmanian Devil, but what's really unique about him? Mario has a compelling aesthetic for every character in the franchise, iconic music, and memorable worlds. Crash has running toward the screen to get away from boulders like Indiana Jones.
Well, Crash is a mascot for 90s gamers. And yeah, it's true that nowadays there's a whole wave of virgins who only swear by Souls games, but that doesn't mean he's not cool. It's a matter of perspective. And Taz is a great cartoon character.

Simple

The original trilogy (while excellent at the time) spanned only 3 years in the late 90s.

Once Naughty Dog ceased development the series took a nosedive. Crash 4 was a decent revival, but that was it.

Meanwhile Mario has been consistently great for 40 years and Sonic has been mainly good too (though less consistent). As a result those franchises appeal to millennials and their children alike, meaning families flooded into cinemas to watch them.

A Crash movie would only appeal to some millenials.

And 75 million at last count:

Oh. I don't know where those numbers come from, but after a quick check, Wiki mentions 60 million for the franchise as a whole...

But yeah, it might actually be more. Apparently, the 35 million figure refers to the N. Sane Trilogy and Crash 4 specifically, I guess.

Does no one on the internet know what a "Boomer" is anymore?

Stop calling older millenials Boomers. There 2 god damm generations removed..."2".

"Boomer" has just come to be associated with anyone young people perceive as old and greying.

Gen X are becoming grandparents now.

Still, it's ignorant to call people in their 40s/50s/60s boomers.
