Doesn't British television allow stuff like asses and titties on air all the time? I remember in Skins, five seconds in, you see some boobage and a vag.
Oh, America and your restrictions on words people can say on TV!
1. Damn, Hell, Ass, Dick
2. Bastard, Bitch
3. Piss, Cock, Shit
4. Fuck
5. Cunt
6. Racial epithets
I was banned for using that c word, careful Xeke
Then there is the n-word which...I don't think I've seen a basic cable show use ever.
If we're actually talking TV broadcasts, IMO:
1) Damn, Hell, Ass, Piss
2) Dick, Bastard, Bitch
3) Cock, Shit
4) Racial epithets (see: The Walking Dead Episode 1)
5) Fuck
6) Cunt
I was banned for using that word as well, pretty damn ridiculous that GAF has banned using that word in any context.
Fixed.

4. Fuck, C word (there's no way this is more offensive than fuck, at least in the US)
Racial epithets are sort of in a category of their own. AMC allows the N word, for instance, but not any words from tier 4.

The Australian version of this list has "cunt" rated on the same level as "cock" and "shit".

That's because we value freedom.Everything is allowed over here.
(UK-GAF)
Just curious, but is the c-word normal over there?

They say it several times in almost every episode of Hell on Wheels.
You're in the U.S, aren't you?
All of those words are allowed on my tv.

Everything is freedom and freedom is everything.Freedom to censor tv is a freedom too.
Because TV (even US TV lol) is less super-sensitive than GAF and doesn't take political correctness to ridiculous extremes by ignoring the context in which the word is being used.
As always with these threads, it should be pointed out that anything is legally allowed on non fcc regulated broadcasts (read: cable, not network).
The reason you don't hear all of these words is advertisers, not the government.
Damn, still salty.
I'm talking about the word bitch. I can understand the c word being extremely offensive in other countries. But I don't think the word bitch is unanimously offensive (ie: regardless of context) in any country.
I wonder when the US and GAF will liberate the c word.
Oh, America and your restrictions on words people can say on TV! As long as its after 9pm here, you can say anything on TV as often as you like.
Completely off topic, but isn't that the guy that played Frobisher in Torchwood: Children of Earth?Meanwhile, on British television http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ijLDJGfO5K8

In short, the government isn't responsible for television censorship (except when they are).I can't believe it took 60 posts before someone brought this up. Everyone wants to jump on the government censorship bandwagon, when it's actually just the sponsors who are prudes (except for over the air network stations, of course).
Wait, is the word 'bitch' banned on here as well? I thought it was just the 'c word'.

The one I don't get is why "asshole" is censored, but not "ass". Also, the "hole" is the part that's bleeped out.
I've definitely heard it before on TV.
