Why is "bitch" allowed on TV?

Breaking Bad is allowed one FUCK a season. Any other time its blurred or muted out.

This limitation never made sense to me.
Because it doesn't exist beyond possibly some agreement between AMC and the advertisers. The FCC has no power over cable of any level. It's entirely up to the channel to decide what they air -- most don't use curse words beyond shit or show nudity because they fear they will lose advertisers. Since HBO has none of those, they do what they want.

I love being in the UK we can even watch hells kitchen USA with all of Gordon's lovely swearing

Wow i never thought of that, is it all bleeped in America? That show would blow censored.

"It's fucking RAW! All of you, COME FUCKING HERE! Taste that... FUCK SAKE!"

never understood why words are worse than images. Again a certain show last night on Tv showed someone shot in the head point blank, also someone burnt alive. Thats allowed? But heaven forbid we say fuck or bitch

I think most things go in Canada provided the program airs after 9pm. Sopranos and Nip/tuck used to air uncut on one of the Canadian Networks (CTV or Global, I forget), and I am pretty sure I have seen softcore porn on CityTV at like 1am before. None of those are cable networks either.

Bitch is used all the time.

Sometimes MTV/Viva (maybe comedy central too) in the UK air the recent episodes of South Park unbleeped and it always catches me off-guard.

I still don't get why asshole is bleeped and considered so taboo on American TV. What is it with you guys and that word?

'Goddamn' is the one that I don't get. I didn't even consider that offensive until I became a moderator on an American forum and was told I had to remove it.

Seriously, it's down there with the really basic swear words that I wouldn't think twice about using in front of my grandparents or a child.

first time i heard "bitch" on national TV was on the Simpsons. that was mindblowing when i was a kid.

Mr. Boswell: Memo to Goldie Hawn: Cheerleading tryouts were 30 years ago. Let's grow up, shall we?

Crowd: <laughs>

Bart: <laughs> He's such a bitch!
