I think at this point, everybody hates Jose Canseco just a tiny bit more than ARod.
Same reason people hate Kobe. You can be great and put up amazing stats but if you're phony and a bit of a loner and teams do better when you're not around it sets of alarms for sports fans. It's called intangibles and neither of these two seems to have them. I'll take Jeter 10 times out of 10 because he is on another plane with his athletic IQ and clubhouse presense.

Yeah, the Rangers were soooo much better too! They had a nice start and Sorianno was good but that's about it. A-Rod is clearly the best player on the Yankees (Jeter and Sheff are awesome too though)

Boston fans have every right to hate A-Rod. He could've been a Red Sox, and instead he went to the Yankees, and talked about how it was always his dream to play there. He's a pretty easy guy to hate, despite being one of the best players in the modern era. The Bosox players chirping about him on the other hand is kinda small, but what the hell...it's all part of the fun.

It was Arod who started the Nixon thing. If you read the ESPN.com article you will see Arod was criticizing Nixon for not working out as early in the morning as him. Well Nixon defended himself saying that he has kids he has to take to school etc... If Arod cant take the heat he shouldnt start fights.
Also David Wells had some great coments about Arod to blasting him for taking credit for the Yankees past championships when he wasnt even there:
"On Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez: "He's a five-tool player. He's one of the best out there. But I remember reading his press conference when he went there. He said a `we' in his conference, like he's won three or four rings with them, and he hasn't. That kind of disturbed me . . . 2004, after Arod got shipped off, 89-73 and three games out of first place in the division. Hell, with Arod they got slightly worse every year.
How about the Mariners?
2001, When he left, they went 116-46. Not too bad. In four years of Rodriguez getting serious playing time, they made the playoffs twice(once as a wild card).
