Why is it raining so much in southern California?

Its been raining so much this week i know a neighbor's house that slid from over saturation of the soil. On one hand i Love the rain-- sleeping while it rains/thunder and on the other i hate when my car hydroplanes on the freeway. :(

I hate when I'm driving in the rain on the freeway and some dickhead in an SUV comes speeding along @ 80 mph, cuts in front of me and reflects buckets of water onto my car windshield so I can't see jackshit.

Dear SUV drivers: FUCK YOU

Wow, it happened to me today too. Some fucker in a black SUV cut in front of me on the I-5 south this afternoon. It wouldn't have been so bad, but it was raining pretty hard at the time.

There was a great rainbow here this morning, complete arc stretching across the sky. And it lasted almost the entire 30 minutes while I was driving! Made the commute much more relaxing. :)

P.S. - sounds like it's pouring again...

My friend at Cal Poly told me there was a couple of suicides like 3 months ago. So was it true? The 5 years I was there was totally boring.

2 within the last 4 years IIRC. One person jumped from the top of the prison-esque building(5/6 stories up?) and recently in Nov/Dec, someone committed suicide with a shotgun to the head in the new Engineering building... yikes!

You know what sucks about the new engineering building? I don't get to use it till the last quarter I was there and it was only one class. >_< I also can't use the new center(the one that is connected to Bronco bookstore and Gaming-Room) that I help pay with the raised tuition. Speaking of higher cost, it sucks that within the last 1-2 years I was there, I was paying like 50% more for a parking pass for parking lots that is getting build for you guys that I won't ever get to use because I graduated soon. Ugh.

edit: When I first enrolled it was 35 dollars, I think.

Parking fee sucks! $90 for a damn parking pass per quarter. They just started building that parking structure just last week too. Then they thought it was a good idea to close off the second parking lot next to it this week so my parking spots I usually park at are taken >_<
Structure won't be finished till like Fall quarter 2006... Lame.

Eh, at least you can get a parking permit. When I was at UCLA, it was $150 per quarter, and you were put in a lottery. Miraculously, I managed to get a parking pass both as a freshman and sophomore, even though I lived on campus. It's only gone up since then, apparently. http://www.transportation.ucla.edu/parking/sparkinf.htm

erm, what was this thread about again? Uhhh, I think it will rain tomorrow too. :P

Just drove home from Redlands through the Reche Canyon, and I gotta say... I've never seen it so bad in my area.

I don't think it's gonna stop by Thursday like they say.

Up here around Seattle, it has been uncommonly dry. the last week it has been sunny morning through night without a cloud in the sky. There are predicting highs in the low 60's tomorrow.

:lol

I'm liking the rain here in San Diego. Yeah, there was a fluke tornado fairly close by where I live, but generally when it rains in SoCal, it's just a nice steady rain with a little wind occasionally. I used to live in South Carolina about 7-8 years ago, and over there you wouldn't just get nice steady rains. You'd get big severe thunderstorms with hail on a regular basis. We'd also get tornadoes occasionally. Then of course there were the hurricanes/tropical storms from June - Nov.

In comparison, San Diego has nice blue skies and when it does rains, it's nice and steady. Until a couple of days ago, I hadn't seen lightening or heard thunder for over two years. Also, San Diego hardly ever gets earthquakes. The only time we feel something is from a big earthquake from farther north. Earthquakes really aren't an issue here. The only thing we have to worry about is fires. It seems every 5-7 years, a firestorm tears through a couple of inland cities. However, if you live by the coast or don't have a lot of brush near your house, then you're pretty much safe.

Our biggest threat around here is housing prices and living expenses.

Then what the hell is San Francisco?
San Francisco is the greatest place on the planet. I went there on vacation last month and I loved it . Everyone is friendly/happy I felt like I was in the twilight zone or something.
