If this is legit, this is the pack I'm getting. If NintendoLand and the pro controller come with it as well as the stands and everything else, it's a pretty good deal.

I'd probably pick up Rayman and Mario on top.
Expensive though... I might have to pay off my preorder over the next 3 months.

ahaha yes seems like the updated the page.
too good to be true.

So basically is it 30pounds more because of the Pro Controller.

Sucks.
Still probably the best bundle to get I guess.
Well got both preordered so I can always decide at the last minute which bundle to get.

Still disappointed though. Rather have nintendo land than the controller.

I really can't believe these prices, I was honestly pretty optimistic about them, figured Ninty would have learned their lesson after the 3DS launch.

And I hate myself because I'm still going to buy one :P

Normally couple of days later for me when I ordered a vita memory card.
Same, so if they don't cancel the £200 orders it must mean £200 is close to the RRP. Vita memory card was a lot cheaper than they should have been.

Edit: Some good deals found.

I am sure Amazon will match these soon enough.

So if I want to play, for simplicities sake, Nintendoland in its intended party setting with 4 players, and I'm not already a Wii owner, I need;

  • £249/299 console
  • £131.96 4x Wii Remotes

£430.96

And then at some point in order to play games that'll no doubt require it I need to also pick up;

  • £100-150 Second Wii U Gamepad
  • £47.96 4x Wii Nunchuks

£147.96

Then I'm going to want at least one or two games as Nintendoland isn't going to entertain for very long, so let's say;

  • £44.99 New Super Mario Bros U
  • £49.97 Zombie U

£94.96

Total £673.88 ($1,091) ... I best get a second job, and I was impressed with the hidden costs of the Wonderbook. :(

(and that's ignoring that Reggie told me that they've kindly excluded the large hard drive, so that I can add that on top if I'm the type of gamer to need it - which I am).

That's a bit of a mental exercise with a pre-determined and desired outcome.

Firstly - NintendoLand is for 1-5 players, you can play it on your own if you want - you only need extra controllers if you have other people to play with. And if there are other people you want to play with, there's a chance they might have a Wii already, or buy the Wii-U themselves. This is not a mandatory cost as you imply.

They haven't announced the UK gamepad price, because they don't know when they're going to release it here. When they do, it could be substantially cheaper than you again, imply.

If you're not a Wii owner, I don't see why you'd buy 4 nunchuks, given that you wouldn't have many games that require them - I can't think of any Wii-U games -- at all -- that do.

And finally, games tend to cost money unless they're bundled... a universal truth to all consoles, not just this one.

But...you don't need those. And even if you did, Wii Remotes are available as cheap as £15 each pre-owned, and why would you even need four nunchucks? Really?

If Only Nintendo launched their console with 4 controllers like every other hardware developer does...

The other hardware developers don't advertise their console as almost explicitly a party console with the vast majority of marketing material showing entire families with 4 Wii Remotes, 4 Nunchuks and a the Gamepad enjoying themselves.

For the Wii U it's a worthwhile consideration if you're expecting to be able to play the console for the purpose it's been built and how many developers will create games for.

Personally I side with most here I anticipate, I'll pick one up with one gamepad, one wii remote and one nunchuk for solo play; simply because I can't afford party play. Was simply food for thought, I'd love to have the family fun party console but it's out of my price range.

I think adding the price of games is silly. We've all probably spent well over half a grand on games in the last few years, but if you add that to the price of the console, it's ridiculous. Everything would be £1000.

The GAME contents for the ZombiU Bundle still mentions Nintendoland as a pack in for it currently.

Preordered with Zavvi, though may have to swap preorder anyway - Zavvi's prices is great, but week after I'm away all week - does anyone know what Zavvi is like with console launches?

Name me a game that requires four nunchuks to be used at once. And also, if you'd be so kind, show me a marketing image from Nintendo of a family using four remotes, four nunchuks and a gamepad all at the same time.

I can't think of any game, or any instance in advertising where it's ever been the case.

If you think back as long as you've been playing games, I probably could have bought a new car or put a third of a deposit down on a house...

these things are sometimes best not to think about!

Fair arguments. Drop the excessive nunchuks, the additional two games and the yet to be revealed second gamepad and you've still got a hefty joining fee for non-Wii owners.

  • £299 console (premium, as it's more value for money)
  • £131.96 4x Wii Remotes (4 player party play)
  • £11.99 Wii Nunchuk (you're going to want one)
  • £45 Game of choice (worth adding imo)

£487.95

Again it's just considerations. I already own a Wii with two Wii Remotes, so I'd only be looking to add two more along with two games. Not quite sure even at that price of around £400 I'll be investing just yet.

Haha yeah, I shudder to think how much money I've sank into this hobby over the past 20 years... I'd probably be living like a king if I'd never bought that fucking Mega Drive :P

On the ZombiU bundle thing... it's got to include NintendoLand, surely? I don't understand the point of the bundle existing otherwise, Extra Game + Controller for £30 is actually a saving, extra controller for £30 isn't.

Right. Let me fix this for you:

  • £269 console from Sainsburys Online with the 15% discount code (premium, as it's more value for money)
  • £80 4x Wii Remotes, Pre-Owned from Blockbuster (4 player party play)
  • £5 pre-owned Wii Nunchuk (you're going to want one)
  • £39.99 Game of choice (will not be £45 unless you go to GAME) (worth adding imo)

So that's actually a total of £390. I just saved you £100. The PS3 launched, for the console alone, at £425. If you shop around (why the hell wouldn't you), you can get your premium Wii U, four wiimotes, a nunchuk AND a new game for cheaper than a launch PS3 cost.

I'm sure the packaging for the black one will have it all on, as that's the premium pack, so I don't think they can take it out.

You could just buy things as and when you need them.
I only have 2 Wiimotes and 2 Nunchucks; I have a classic controller too.

This is no different to other systems;
- Single Player = Pad - your done.
- Multiplayer = choice of controls - how many players? Thats a cost on all systems.

Nintendo Land is a bit of a bitch; which is why am probably not going for it.

Choices. You can make them.

All prices were quoted from Amazon which I feel is a pretty good measuring stick for general pricing, a far cry from using the likes of GAME etc. As for purchasing pre-owned Wii controllers, I'd rather pay the small extra to have brand new considering their main purpose is to be thrown around and have a habit of going into TV's (but in general I don't buy second hand, not after having received a copy of Final Fantasy X from Ebay which was filled with tobacco upon opening and had a corner of the manual torn out, no doubt for making a roll-up cigarette - true story).

I do think its tough in the UK at the moment, it wouldn't surprise me if it didn't fly off shelves quite as well as some consoles have. I don't think we've bottomed out either, I think this might be a really tough Christmas in some sectors.

I think it'll be tough for some launch games out of the gate too, because spending more than the cost of the console on launch day is going to be something a lot of people can't afford. I'd like to see more bundles like the ZombiU bundle, because I think that's the way some games will stand a better chance this Christmas.

I'm probably going to spend over £350 on launch day, but I know that's something most people will struggle with. There might be some happy kids this Christmas: if they have siblings and such, buying one present for all the kids might be more attractive than buying them all iPod Touch or something. And I do think this will, to some extent, reinvigorate games retail. As skint as people are, I think people are ready to buy something new like this. Nintendo were probably wise to get it out for Xmas 2012, even if the economy and games market here still sucks.

I hope Nintendo don't neglect the EU/UK market on the software side... if they talked to Virgin/Sky, Amazon and Lovefilm in the UK - there's no reason our version of Nintendo TVii couldn't be as nice as the American one -- but that's the kind of thing I can imagine them falling short in doing.

Not worth the extra £130 for me.

:D

I've missed lists of how much the real cost of new consoles are.

Coupled with the rage about Bayonetta, I'd almost forgotten what a joy console wars are. When Sony and Microsoft announce their next consoles, it's going to be a fun atmosphere around here.

Fine. Let's use this amazon listing then, £20.98 for a brand new Wii remote: http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B000IMWK2G/

Still under £400, £100 below your estimate. And if you think the games will be £44.99 in Tesco/Morrisons/Sainsburys/Asda on launch day, then you're mistaken.

Stop nitpicking. :P

Fine, £400 if you shop around, which you should obviously always do.

Which is perfectly reasonable for a new console launch, wouldn't you agree? Considering that bundle you put together would include the premium console, four wii remotes, a nunchuck and a launch game? Bloody good value, I'd say.
