Wii-U - Amazon listing UK prices and launch date

Will NintendoLand be release by itself? Not cancelling my ZombiU bundle because I want that and the controller but Ninty game will be fun for my family so might try and get that as well.

Worked for me about 30 minutes ago. It did show as £299 in the final checkout screen, but below - in smaller text - in a box on the left hand side of the screen it had the deduction of £30, and subsequent price.
Had to start a new account. Different email, and shortened first name otherwise it knew I already had an account.

Seems so but at full retail price, £39.99

this is where amazon show their greed, again :(

ZombiU is up at £49.97!
I think I'll leave ordering any games until I have clearer idea about Amazon honouring their earlier prices on the consoles.
That should allow the prices to settle, but I still expect to pay £35 - £40 for most.

Right now ShopTo have games all for £39.99 but it might change because if amazon can get away with it, everyone else will follow.

Not having Nintendo Land bundled is a kick in the knackers. I was hoping to get a Wii U, Nintendo Land, ZombiU and NSMBU at launch. Cheapest way to do that now appears to be to buy the basic model and all games seperate, at least where Amazon are concerned.

That Sainsburys deal is more tempting, though.

FFS.

Nintendo launches are always chaos, might just do Asda on the day at this rate.

I did that with the original Wii with a minimum of fuss, although I did have to go down there for the midnight launch to be sure of getting one. Its amazing how many people do their weekly grocery shop at stupid hours of the night!

I've only paid for mine today because I know I'm crap with money and will probably be struggling to get it together that close to Christmas

We do have till November :D

Haha, yeah just the confused information rubs me up the wrong way. You've only been building up to this for a year Nintendo ;)

Nintendo Land separate doesn't really fly with me either, but want the pro controller. What a mess.

where is this 'no nintendoland bundled with zombieU' coming from? I thought it was confirmed at the nintendo direct conference?

and why does the ZombieU version come with a pro controller anyway, when the main hook of the game is the integration with the gamepad?

TBF, Nintendo Direct seemed to imply that Nintendoland was swapped out for ZombiU, it was retailers that seemed to think it had both.

I'd rather keep nintendoland and drop the pro controller which has no clear benefit for zombieU

oh well. Think I'll look for a premium with nintendoland, and see which retailers bundle extra software with it - primarily ZombieU or NSMBU

wonder if premium pack with NSMBU and ZombiU is doable for £300? Alternatively I'd take a basic + NSMBU/ZombieU/Nintendoland for £279 (I'm assuming Ubisoft games will have pricing flexibility as they have before, and Nintendo might price Nintendoland competitively as its 'just' a bundle game anyway)

I'm keeping my ZombiU bundle, the controller will be handy for some other games like Fifa I reckon. Plus NintendoLand is an easy christmas present someone can get me then!

That bundle seems to be the 3rd party bundle, like with MH in Japan but obviously not with a game that actually needs the pro controller. Still be nice to have it for the future though.

I got another email from Amazon, I thought to myself awww shit they gonna cancel it. But nope confirmation again that they will honour the £199.99 price I ordered the premium model for.

I'm still expect them to cancel it.

Not interested in the Premium bundle? Don't worry, Amazon have got your back. They've graciously taken 99p off the basic bundle as well. £249.00

On the basis of the £250 (white) and £300 (black) prices that most retailers seem to be gravitating at or around right now, just as Gamasutra did the US-focussed 35 years of console prices adjusted for inflation, I found the UK launch RRP of as many systems as I could, worked out the inflation and made a chart myself:

A2w3BL1CUAAl8eM.png:large
If anyone has more launch prices for systems which they can confirm, I'd love to add them to the chart.

Obviously you can't just look at this as hard figures and say straight up that Wii U is cheap. You also have to factor in the newness of the technology on each system, and social/economic factors such as the 2008 financial troubles and subsequent double dip recession we're enjoying over here, and factor those in to how people perceive the Wii U's value.

Personally, on paper it looks pretty damn cheap, but I'm finding it hard to reconcile with the roughly £250 price for the white system. Don't even get me started on the £300 black.

The price on the site I linked to earlier seems to have jumped to £299 + £6 delivery. :(

Ah, well. I'll be in the US when it launches so I wouldn't be able to get one/play it anyway. Maybe I'll wait until next year
when it's impossible to get when I want it and even more grossly overinflated.

This is getting ridiculous.

I think open price for the EU in future should just be a fruit machine, and you keep doing it until you get a combination you like. At least that would be more fun.

Just had a chat with someone from amazon.co.uk.

He confirmed to me that I will definitely get my Wii U 32GB Premium Pack for £204.31, shipping to Germany included.

He also sent me a chat protocol via email for "future reference".

I'm really starting to get my hopes up...

No.

Just reward points for future discounts, despite the unfortunate name.

Yeah I Google it. But it might be not all. I hope they'll only stick with it.
They should go for PSN Plus if they need to charge people.

Poor Amazon and Nintendo. Everyone should pay fully.

Doesn't exist on Amazon.

It's all such a mess, the ZombiU bundle is still offered on marketplace for some bizarre reason. Not like the other 2 bundles, and it still has the Nintendo Network Premium removed even thought that can't be right.

I'm at the point of saying bugger it.

Zavvi have Tekken Tag Tournament 2 WiiU Edition at £27.95.

Pre-order Price Promise: Order this product with us today and if we reduce the price between taking your order and the release date, we will charge you the lower price!

Tank! Tank! Tank! - £23.95
I am wondering about the price promise. It says that they will lower the price of your order if it gets cheaper, but what if it goes up in price?

Nintendoland not being in the ZombieU pack is bullshit. People who buy the less expensive premium pack get it but the people forking out the most don't.

Nice reward, Nintendo.

What price would you all put on your very own Wii-U Ambassador Program? Or is that what the Nintendo Network Premium is going to be, only available for those early adopters and then gone with the inevitable early price drop if hype fever doesn't catch the market's mindshare post this holiday season?

I still can't believe I'm seeing a £300 price tag on this machine. Its ludicrous.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

I couldn't think of anything funny to say.

Impressive. Most Impressive
(I'll stop now)

You know you get ZombiU instead right? And a pro controller? Effectively it costs £30 more and you get a pro controller for your money.

Although you do seemingly lose the premium membership thing too, but amazon seem to just be cocking things up so might not be the case.

Hm, got the £269 Wii U Premium bundle pre-ordered for now at Sainsbury's.
I will cancel it though unless it goes down in price, as I'm a bit glum over some of you guys getting the Wii U premium bundle for just £199.

Of course, but I still think Nintendoland should be included. It's basically the Wii Sports of the system and adding one game and taking away another is a pretty shitty tactic.

Adding one game and taking away another? Let me simplify this for you. There are three bundles:

8GB White console, no games - ~£249
32GB Black console, Nintendoland - ~£299
32GB Black console, ZombieU, Pro Controller - ~£329

The first bundle comes with less memory, and no games, so it's the cheapest.
The second bundle has one game and more memory, so it's more expensive.
The third bundle has one game, more memory and a Pro Controller, so it's the most expensive.
