Wii-U - Amazon listing UK prices and launch date

The discounted games from Zavvi have all been from Ubisift so far (ie Sports Connection, Rayman, Just Dance). I would think it's a fair bet this weeks' game will also be an offering from Ubisoft - my guess is Marvel Avengers.

I did not get an e-mail last week - have they run out of cheap games or did they just decide not to send me details of last week's offer? Anybody get an e-mail from Zavvi?

I heard it's the Avengers game. Maybe try emailing their cust serv?

Good idea, why didn't I think of that? Just did that, when what did I notice had just arrived in my inbox? - an e-mail from Zavvi with the latest offer! And the game is.... Marvel Avengers. My psychic powers are working well at the moment, as that is the game I predicted several days ago

Thought I'd ask here with it being a UK thread. How many launch titles are there in the UK?

I read these are the launch titles: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2012-09-14-every-wii-u-uk-launch-game-listed

Is this list still accurate, aside from the delayed Rayman?

We don't know yet, right? There is no official email or anything from NOE about the launch games. On Nintendo's UK site they list some games but they still have Rayman on the list for launch titles. Hopefully the coming ND will solve the problem.

Ahh, thanks for the response.

Is that a big deal for UK launch retail? Through Amazon or otherwise?

The last console I can remember worrying about getting my hands on at launch was the PS2. Walked in to stores without a problem for Xbox, Gamecube, 3DS and PS3, and managed to get a 360 through work at the time. We also had a Wii in our shared accommodation house at the time day one without having to go too far out of the way to grab one, if I recall correctly. Got a Vita from Amazon without a problem (lol).

Hopefully this is a sign the U is doing well so far, although I'm not familiar with pre-order trends or sales-age for the UK, really.

Are Shopto reliable?
Because it might be worth it to pay 5 pounds less for some games that I currently have pre-ordered with Amazon.
Same for the Wii U pro controller.

I can definitely recommend them. Very quick delivery of the games as well. I live in mainland Europe and I usually get games from them 2 days after dispatch. That's pretty good!

I was wondering... I have a pre-order with Amazon for £299 and one with Zavvi for £275... Should I wait till a few days before launch before I cancel the Amazon one just to be sure?

I'd wait until you see if Zavvi is shipping on time. Don't forget with distance selling regs you can return items up to 7 days after delivery.

Interesting. Have you ever bought anything from this place before? I've never heard of them.

Seconding this question.

Scratch that. I just moved all my money out of my bank account to test a pre-order and the "payment failed" - ie they tried to take payment at pre-order time.

Pffft. There's no way I'm paying up-front for a Wii U pre-order that's £2 or so cheaper when everything's so overpriced at the moment.

Might be worth posting those in the price match forum on shopto.

Can't seem to be able to log in or register for their forums, and it doesn't like my standard shopto password. Can anyone else do it?

Hm, might just go with Amazon, as the shopto prices are really only 5 pounds cheaper (games) and 2 pounds cheaper (controller) but don't have the one-day delivery I managed to snag while I was on prime.

If I pre-ordered the Wii U while I had prime, but no longer have it, will I still get my free first-class delivery?

Shopto are pretty good about getting things out on release day or even earlier in some cases. They've never once let me down and I think it's quite likely that they'll do everything they can to get something as high profile as the Wii U launch out on time.

If I was in your shoes, I'd be leaning towards Shopto even if they weren't cheaper than Amazon.

I put a preorder in with Amazon UK, but also got one on Amazon France when that deal was on recently, which meant the price was around £36 cheaper including delivery.

I was wondering about the Nintendo Network that gets packed in with the console, I wonder if this would be an issue if I opted for the cheaper french Wii U console bundle and used it in the UK?

The ZombiU bundle is gone again! Intriguing, I guess Nintendo should hire Adam Buxton to narrate all their ads from now on.

My grand master plan is to activate my Amazon Prime trial around mid-November, so I can get my premium WiiU bundle on release day. (I'm doing it in mid-November so I can do this for Virtue's Last Reward as well).

Wish I could do the same, living just outside the UK (Denmark.)

On a related note, I remember reading about people losing their pre-order queue positions, or something, upon changing delivery method on Amazon pre-orders.. I assume this must have been an error/bug?

Kinda scared of switching to one-day delivery if that could happen.

Shop to delivery is superb everything i have ever ordered has come one day before release (3ds, Kinect, Vita) I would totally be buying from shopto had it not been for sainsburys being cheaper....

Shopto have gotten everything I've ever ordered from them to me the day before release. Even my 3ds.

With Amazon you'll have it on the day of release. And probably at about 5pm.

Anyone know when Amazon will charge for my order. Get paid on the 28th, but I have a feeling they may try and obtain payment earlier in the week.

don't forget the rewards, that must be worth a fair few quid even if you're only a bronze member.

I don't know if it has been posted already, but both Asda and Tesco online stores have pre-orders open for all three Wii U bundles - all still clearly stated as available for launch day delivery.

I originally put in my order with tesco, thank fuck though it got blocked by my credit card for a fraud check as I looked around more and found i could use the sainsburys discount

Yup, ZombiU is going to sell an absolute shitload. Ubisoft should be able to shift over a million units before Christmas imo. And you can bet your bottom dollar that Nintendo are going to match Ubisoft's marketing campaign. ZombiU is going to be huge.

Just a heads up, but disturbingly, Toys R Us UK lists December 14th as the Zombie U pack release date.

Along with the basic unit. Maybe they've sold their launch allocation and thats when the next shipment is due.

for anyone considering trading in their playstation 3 of xbox 360 slim for a wii u, game offer £110 for a 250gb slim ps3 and £90 for a slim xbox 360.

they have a offer where you get 50% more when you trade in the console towards a wii u. this was announced earlier, but it is now being advertised in their shops. you can only get 50% for one console sadly, but it's a good deal for anyone who wants to bring the cost of their wii u down.

Hmm, not bad. I picked up a slim in the GAME fire sale, so I'd probably get back more than I paid for it..

How are their prices compared to other retailers? I'm guessing not too different as there hasn't been big discounting from anyone. Plus as a major retail chain I'd expect them to be least badly hit by any shortages.

Could be that GAME is the best place to get one from?

the zombiu premium bundle is retailing for above £300. I didn't see the precise price, but I think it was £319.99 or £329.99. I would expect them to have a substantial number of consoles, they were still taking pre-orders today. I don't know if that means anything, hmv and tesco were still taking pre-orders too, so maybe the news of the small allocation was false or they don't yet know what the allocation will be.

Unknown but if it is like previous systems firmware there is no issue; Wii and 3DS have all required European languages and you'll be able to set country to UK and connect to the UK store fine.

Just remember you might not have a warranty or be able to trade in the French system (both are discretion things, hence might)

Amazon UK is now completely out of stock of the Wii U - no models available for preorder. Big demand or very low shipment?

I'd say more low shipment than big demand. But I'd like to be proven wrong. Thank god I secured my unit months ago
