Wii-U - Amazon listing UK prices and launch date

They'll have to refund me it doesn't arrive on time anyway.

Would be nice but don't bank on it. I'm switching to expedited too though.

Nice up-selling Amazon!

Anyone else noticed a pretty sharp increase in Wii U adverts on TV?

Just watching Channel 4 at the minute and there's been a Wii U advert in each of the last several breaks. Which about trebles the amount of advertising I saw for it before today.

Did anyone else order the Join or Die Edition of AC3 from the UbiSoft Store when it was really cheap? I'm wondering if the thing is actually going to get honoured, Ubi aren't selling the Join or Die version of the game at all anymore.

I did but unfortunately my card had to be canned and replaced and at that point there wasn't even a listing for it and I doubt Ubi would honour it again.

I did. The order is still on the system so I can only imagine they sold out of their print of it, as it is still available from other places.

Anyway, I activated Amazon Prime earlier in the month for my sisters birthday present so I changed the Wii U to expedited delivery too, hopefully it'll arrive on the 30th as I booked the day off work.

They have already charged me so it better turn up (my order is still showing up on Ubi's site).

Where's the best place for a pro controller?? I've got a feeling the supermarkets are going to have a price war with certain games (hopefully Mario, Blops and Fifa) so I'm gunna wait for release before ordering anymore (pre ordered Tekken).

Why can't I buy NSMBU for £35!? Amazon are being annoying about that one. Are people taking bets on supermarkets selling it cheaper? I live in Central London so supermarkets that stock videogames cheaply don't really exist until you get to Zone 6...

I think I might just pay the £10 extra so I have something to play immediately. I guess I could play Wii U Update Saga whilst I get the tube to a barren estate in Tottenham to pick up Mario from a giant ugly Tesco...

I did. My order is still there, although when I try to view my invoice it says server error.

While it's a bit annoying I lost out on that bargain, after a while I realised I only got it for the price. After hearing mixed reviews of AssCreedIII I think I'm better off waiting for it to go on sale.

But I still hope Ubi doesn't chicken out and honours the deal because it really was a good one. Shame it wasn't Mario Bros eh.

Yeah, after seeing reviews and GAF impressions, mine's going straight on eBay, still sealed. Using the cash to buy Mario and maybe I'll have a few quid left over.

Fuck this reward system, even if it is the best value one on any console, supermarket, credit card or rewards card.

Yeah Fuck it going from 10% to 8% .

I just don't understand why Europe once again has to get shafted. Why not make it 10% like in the US and Japan?? It seems really weird.

Eurogamer just posted an article saying that those in the UK who get the Premium bundle have to spend £62.50 in the Wii U eShop to get a voucher for £5.

How are you all feeling about this news? It's certainly not 10%

Meh, we're used to getting shafted over here so no biggie lol

Still can't believe we've got a week and a half left to wait!!!

Oh well, gives developers time to patch the games and Nintendo time to iron out the wrinkles I guess lololol

The game will be most likely full RRP, so even 10% back is less than if you buy a physical game online. And you need to spend the points on the store.

Is this a VAT thing? it's 10% back on the pre tax amount? Fucking nickel and diming Nintendo. Not a big deal maybe, but they said 10% and now it isn't.

I already have a bunch of eshop vouchers ready, so I'll buy either NSMBU or some eshop games, but then I'm going physical, fuck it. Should have known it was too good to be true

Yep said so in the small print of a Nintendo Direct video...

Basically, you only earn points on the before-tax price. But tax is treated as being 25% for all countries because NOE are lazy (just like £1=€1.1) so you're paying for 125% but getting the 10% on the 100% of that. 10/125=0.08.

I'd be more concerned that retail games are bound to be £54* myself making the £5 unappeasable compared to retail.

*-$60=€60=£54. NOE maths. Where nobody explains taxes and even if you do add them in...

Looks like the only WiiU console available to order on Amazon for the 30th is the Nintendo Wii U 32GB Premium Pack - Black.

Even the basic White version is not available to order.

Lots of positive comments in that Eurogamer article. Guess we can't expect an uprising of complainers over the 2% difference.

hmmm, its absence from the chart is worrisome...as this little disclaimer
"Please note--orders placed for this Wii U console from November 5 will be fulfilled as soon as possible on or after the release date of November 30. Orders placed before this date are still eligible for Release Day Delivery"

EU Scribblenauts has been delayed until 2013

"[The delay is] due to stuff I can't talk about until 2013," creative director Jeremiah Slaczka told NeoGAF. "Scribblenauts and Super Scribblenauts were released NA and EU the same day. Trust me. I want your money. It's due to things outside of development."

Edit: Lol just realised where the news of the delay has come from. How meta.

Nintendo Land
New Super Mario Bros. U
Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed
Assassin’s Creed III
ZombiU
Batman: Arkham City Armoured Edition

I'm getting these. should get nintendoland free with the premium, hopefully hmv will have the above in stock and not priced above £40.

NSMBU and Nintendo Land for me. Hoping to get NSMBU as part of the John Lewis basic bundle and will pick up Nintendo Land, a Wii Motion+ and maybe a couple of other games from HMV with some credit I have. Thinking ZombiU plus either Tekken or COD.

I'm looking to cancel my £31 AC3 Join or Die pre-order from Ubishop, as I don't want it anymore. Thought I'd offer it anyone on here who wants it first though. Not looking for any profit, will just add a couple of quid for postage. Can prob sort it out through PMs.

I wouldn't mind that actually - PM sent.

i'm tempted to get one of these, but all I really want is ZombiU and nintendoland. i'm sort of worried that once i get bored of those there won't be any games for a long time.

there are some wii games i never got round to playing, does the WiiU upscale wii games? i presume you can play them in 720p over hdmi?

this is my plan as well. I've started buying up cheap wii games I've always wanted to play. got skyward sword for less than £10 yesterday, on the lookout for a cheap copy of metroid prime and a few others like xenoblade chronicles, the resident evil games, silent hill shattered memories.

Hmm that's a shame, although I was never really wowed by the initial trailers.

I was looking at the release schedule going forward and it's quite bare, but maybe we will see something good from Nintendo on the Store? That block moving game on 3DS was really cool.

Monster Hunter, Pikmin 3 and Wonderful 101 - March ish?

I am still secretly hoping we get Metal Gear Rising on Wii U, but I am sure the PS3 version will be great anyways! :)

Yeah, hoping for Rising as well.

I'm OK with the launch window, to be honest. The Wonderful 101, Monster Hunter, Pikmin 3, Rayman Legends and Aliens: Coloniel Marines are easily enough games for me to get excited about in that time; especially as I figure I'll still be playing the launch games before any of those launch. Besides, I reckon by February we'll probably know a bit more about what to expect beyond March, so even before all the launch window games have released we will be looking forward to the next batch of stuff through to E3.

yeah i'm going to stock up on old wii games to play on the U, theres some neat stuff out there. but i'd recommend twilight princess over skyward sword if you haven't played it yet...

I haven't as it happens, the last zelda game I played was ocarina of time, so thanks for the advice.

any more suggestions? I've been out of the nintendo loop since the gamecube. I had a gamecube, but I rarely used it and didn't anything for it outside of mario sunshine.

Xenoblade Chronicles. Best soundtrack of this gen, one of the best RPGs of this gen.
DKCR is a pretty damn fine platformer, especially the "challenge" levels.
Super Mario Galaxy 1/2 are among the finest games of all time, definitely worth a look (even if you don't love 3D platformers).
Red Steel 2 - if you can get it for cheap - shows how with great core gameplay a mediocre game can be pretty damn fun.
No More Heroes 1/2 - if you can get it for little money - is Suda51 at his best. Insane, hilarious, simple.

many thanks for the recommendations. I'll try to find these as cheap as possible, should help to keep the console warm during the post release lull.

Just changed my delivery from First Class to Expedited, so there really is no excuse now.

If this is Amazon, be careful. The faster delivery often goes via HDNL who regularly lose, don't bother delivering and lie about parcels. They're freaking awful on the whole.

The free super saver delivery, whilst probably not gonna guarantee you day one (although possible) has always served me well. Fast and free :)
