Which one? If it was metrotown, I contributed![]()
Buying a white model is sort of a waste of money. The Deluxe version more than pays for itself with the bonuses it comes with.
Yeah.
The charge cradle is too handy. It really should have come with the basic. Battery life wouldnt be an issue for most people unless they marathon game constantly because you always have a place to put it.
It's going to significantly outperform 360's year 1. Not that it'll mean much, pundits will just compare it to Wii.
This is definitely it. No one is out shopping right now.I have seen many WiiUs on the shelf in many stores but it's deceiving. When I asked store managers how it seems to be selling they said their online sales numbers are actually very high, whereas in-store sales are average so far. I think this is due to gas prices though; around here gas is around 3.80/g and falling, and I'd imagine as it gets lower the WiiU sales numbers will get higher.
As they should. This is capitalism. You have to outperform your previous success, and expectations. It's going to significantly outperform 360's year 1. Not that it'll mean much, pundits will just compare it to Wii.
Who should I believe????? Conflicted anecdotal evidence...I never...

That is a fair enough comparison i think. I remember there were a lot of talk about that with the PS2 and PS3, how much less the PS3 sold compared to the PS2. Comparisons to the predecessor will always be done. It's going to significantly outperform 360's year 1. Not that it'll mean much, pundits will just compare it to Wii.

They're both right. It will be tougher to find a Wii U in higher populated areas of the country, where rural areas have stock.
Few people are going to go straight for a full-priced item when they're there for the sales. Wii Us will likely start selling once the sale items are depleted and people feel like they have to buy something since they are already in the store. This is definitely it. No one is out shopping right now.
Yeah, those $199 PS3 and 360 specials are what people are shopping for on Black Friday.
At the Best Buy I was at this morning, it looked like a bomb went off in the PS3/360 section. They still had a good sized stack of the 199 PS3 bundle though. Sony must have stocked stores really well.

I'm no MS lover, but a 250GB 360 with Forza 4 and Skyrim for 249.99 is such a good deal. I'm expecting them to post incredible numbers just like last Christmas.
That deal is 199. The 249.99 bundle includes BLOPS2. I could only find that one at Gamestop though, so it might just be a deal they're offering.

I heard two different ladies walk by the Wii U saying we already have a Wii.
It doesn't mean anything, but I still maintain Nintendo has done a really poor job marketing this thing as an entirely new system.
Haha. Yeah well.![]()
I'm not sure what Ebay fees are, but I live in Oregon so there was no sales tax. If shipping is the 35 or so that he is paying, I'll net 85 in profit before Ebay fees. That's not quite what I was looking to make, but it's good enough. I was just hoping to cover the cost of my two launch games that wound up being 2 and 1/2 because of Target.
Still. Nobody bid on the damn thing until an hour before the auction ended. I'm glad I started it at 350.
Previous NPD November launches for comparison:
Xbox (2001) 720,000
Gamecube (2001) 660,000
Nintendo DS (2004) 370,000
Xbox 360 (2005) 326,000
PlayStation 3 (2006) 197,000
Wii (2006) 476,000
Sure, but it launched in October. Here's the non-November launches:
PlayStation 2 (Oct 2000) 390,000
Game Boy Advance (Jun 2001) 880,000
PSP (Mar 2005) 620,000
Nintendo 3DS (Mar 2011) 390,000
PS Vita (Feb 2012) 220,000
Looks like Wii U is now back in stock at both my Target & Wal-Mart.
I just noticed something, after reading this thread I checked how the WiiU doing here in Quebec. I called two places for each company
Gamestop/EB games - None
Microplay - None
Best Buy/Future Shop - None
Wal Mart - Plenty
o_o
I wasn't planning on buying one until a game I really wanted came out. I went shopping around this morning after the big door busters and saw target sold out of them. Best buy had 6 basics left. I walked into GameStop and the cashier was putting one deluxe in the display case bc someone didn't pick up. I thought about it for a second and decided to snatch it up. I ended going back to best buy for my GF to buy a tv and only 1 basic was left.
Seems that the WiiU isn't doing too hot, huh.
The system will sell out, theirs no doubt about that.
The REAL problem is the seemingly lack of interest in 3rd party games.
BLOPS 2, the biggest game of the year has only 3 reviews on Metacritic. Tekken Tag 2? 2 reviews. Fifa 13? 3 reviews. Assassins Creed 3? 2 reviews.
Yes, well I don't really see anyone hitting what they did last gen either. 3DS and Vita clearly won't, Wii U is looking unlikely and the early scenarios we have for Durango/Loop and PS4 seem the same. You're only as good as your last system.
