Will 360 stll have Tivo like capabilities?

"Still?"

When did anyone say it would. The best you can hope for is to let it stream media from your PC, or playback media from a connected device. It won't replace your Tivo.

Not with a 20GB hard drive

If you could network it with your PC it wouldn't be a problem. You could just upload them to a larger HD or just burn them to dvd. Probably only like 5% of the userbase would use that feature, but it would have been really cool to include it.

I can see MS coming out with an addon that would include a huge harddrive and Tivo like functions in the future though.

That's too bad. For a box that's being pushed as an entertainment hub, it seems like a no-brainer, especially since all the necessary hardware minus an rf video input is already in the box.

Too expensive to include in the base model when many of the early adopters will probably already have Tivo. However, remember that the HDD is upgradeable, and that doesn't necessarily mean space wise. I could totally see a Tivo HDD upgrade come out that has 120+Gigs of space plus an RF input for $100, coupled with a pricedrop on the base unit when PS3 comes out.

It's missing a tuner card, so you can't connect cable to it. And never mind the fact that even if they did add a basic one, people would expect HD cable/satellite to be supported as well.

A game console will never make a good DVR. You don't want it recording a show at the same time it is streaming stuff to the hard drive to reduce load times in a game, for example.

In addition, recording takes SOME processing power - console developers expects 100% of the CPU & GPU. Once you start adding multifunctionality like DVR, then console developers will hate having to take that into account.

How on earth would the device have the resources to record live TV and play video games at the same time? Basically you would have to have the equivalent of two devices crammed into it's case.

you would think the Xbox could work like a DVR and record shows from an external tuner.

It would work something like:
HD receiver->Xbox->TV
