Maybe it's all a strategy so he can claim Jaden is no longer his son:

This kinda shit really pisses me off and makes me sad... where's the self-respect and decency and dignity?

Even if you don't care about the person, even if you're fucking other people too, why would you shame your family like this? Put your kids through this? Put your name through this?

I really don't get it. Just divorce and both are free to do whatever, but don't be a fucking cuck.

wtf is with all the prudes on this forum that subscribe to 1950s corner church doctrine. relationships come in all forms. Key is you gotta find what works for you and your partner.

i don't think you really have addressed the self-respect and dignity part very well. that's not about any 1950 corner church doctrine bullshit coming out your mouth. it's about having self-respect and respect to your family members.

Sure but that doesn't mean they are healthy or are the result of two (or more) emotionally stable people.

How is there no self respect? I mentioned the church because that’s the only prism I can think of that one would conclude there’s no “self-respect” in having an open marriage (or any other arrangement that’s decided by two consenting adults).

I've thought for well over a decade+ that Will Smith is gay. Gay dudes can still have sex with women and produce children. The more shit that comes to light the more I think I'm right, Jada's just a beard

I'm just saying anyone who lives in LA have heard about of the shit the Smiths have been involved in. Allegedly.

Nah, man. Just no. Fuck you. Look past the progressive facade, alright? A real relationship is 2 people wanting to be together and helping and caring and intending to be with each other. Add in kids and that's a family. There's no church shit in this, this has been a family unity throughout millennia, it's animal behavior even.

If it needs someone from the outside, then someone from the inside isn't truly willing to be there and isn't content with what he/she has.

If the person wants out I'm not judging, I don't see a problem in that, people change and maybe they want something else in life, that's fine. But you gotta be honest with your partner and end the relationship, because if not, someone's gonna hurt pretty bad, be it you, the partner or the kids.

"Open relationships" do not exist. It's selfish people fucking other people at the expense of someone that has real feelings, taking advantage of this person, be it financially or whatever. It's fucked up.

Explain this further?

I'm not really into the idea myself of open relationships; but who is getting taken advantage of automatically that differs from a monogamous relationship (where someone could easily be being taken advantage of too)?

I think it's a misuse of the word on my part, but it still shows the point.

A traditional relationship where someone's is taking advantage of the other person is just as fucked up. It's not a "real relationship" by design, its a parasitic one. So why do so many people accept that? It's usually because the person being taken advantage of cares/loves the other.

And if you knowingly accept to be humiliated/taken advantage of, then you have no self-respect.

The idea behind an open relationship is not to be "taken advantage of" though. It's something you should only be doing if you actually want your partner to be with other people, that's something that is supposed to make you happy.

Which is the thing people who don't want an open relationship don't understand/get past it.

Is it possible a person is lying/lying to themselves/etc.? Sure, but that's not really an open relationship either.. that's someone lying to maintain a relationship.

The idea of it and what actually occurs in reality are two very different things.
The vast majority of monogamous relationships fail and often spend a significant portion of their time with people projecting an "idea" that doesn't match reality though. Not a lot said about open relationships is unique to them.

Everything in life is transitory. The dynamics over the relationship timeline matter. Open/poly relationships typically have enormous amounts of drama and manipulation compared to monogamous ones, and are not mutually beneficial.

Cultural mores are very fluid—have been since Narmer united upper and lower Egypt. What is or is not acceptable changes. Look at this country and how much has changed in just the last 60 years.

As for animals there are very few that mate for life so that’s not a good example.

I still don’t understand your central argument. Two consenting adults can do whatever they want as long as it doesn’t hurt anyone. Do you have evidence different types of relationships have better or worse outcomes?

I don't think that's possible man. I don't think it's possible to truly love someone (sexually and romantically) and want that person to be with someone else. If you do fell like that towards someone then you probably don't really love her/him, you can care and like, sure, but that's a different thing.

And with that comes to the idea of the relationship itself... if only a single person is committed to the relationship, then it's not a relationship, or at least, not a healthy or "real" one.

Morality extends far beyond simple consent. Is it moral to offer someone a first bag of free heroin as long as they consent to it?

You should look to avoid exploiting other people, or inflicting needless suffering for selfish reasons.

I don’t see how having an open relationship has anything to do with exploitation (as long as everything is done above board).

Two consenting adults can do whatever they want, I totally agree with that. My point isn't that.

And I'm not claiming humans should stay with the same partner for life, I'm fine with divorce.

All I'm claiming is that a human relationship consists of 2 humans and that if you accept something other than that, then you either don't really love your partner or you're lying to yourself. That means it's either lack of respect towards your partner or lack of self respect, respectively.

And when something like this escalates to scandal levels, then you're also putting your family through that bullshit, which is what my original point was claiming.

Each partner will always have a different market value.

Open relationships often transition from monogamous ones where one person gets greedy and the other Is convinced to stay “together” out of love. The latter person inevitably ends up emotionally exploited.

Communism is great on paper, too.

Well it's not moral to exploit someone.

That does not make open relationships immoral any more than people cheating makes monogamous one's immoral.

Why do you feel you have the authority to determine what a healthy relationship looks like?

Side note on this, you ONLY tend to hear about the downsides of these types of relationships because most people in successful ones tend to KEEP QUIET as that's usually what works out best. People like to assume they know what's best and try and force their views onto others, especially if it's something that's not deemed "normal" because most of society looks to mock those who practice this, just look at this thread where people are laughing at Will Smith of all people, saying he's been cucked, etc, when in reality he got to smash Margot Robbie and many others yet still gets to be in the "happy family" picture that society says we should be in.

Why do you feel you have the authority to determine that I don't know what a healthy relationship looks like?

You think someone fucking your wife/husband while you're working or taking care of the kids is healthy? To whom, man? To whom? Do you think a kid growing up in a commune where "everyone is everyone's" is healthy? People need normality, man, yeah yeah, the forsaken word, right? Yeah, they need it. You need normality to be normal.

Anyways, I don't think I wanna have this conversation anymore... I'm thinking you either understand or you don't, and at least from my point of view (and what seems to the point of view of the majority of folks here), you're the one at wrong, so fuck you.

Have a nice weekend, dude. :)

You’re the one claiming that an open relationship is wrong and shows lack of respect for your partner/self. I’m asking why you feel that way. Why you’re so certain? You can’t back it up with any receipts except something about that’s what animals do.

For thousands of years kids were brought up in communes and here we are sending people to the moon and beyond so I guess it’s ok?

IntentionalPun

Ask me about my wife's perfect butthole
Things that are incredibly "normal" (as in, a significant percentage of people) things kids grow up around:

- Abusive relationships
- Otherwise unhappy relationships
- Cheaters
- Divorced parents

In fact, I'd say those are all actually MORE normal than the idealized vision of "2 happy monogamous parents who stay together for life." Divorce is factually more normal in several societies. And many of those divorced people raised children in an unhappy environment; 2 parents who really don't like each other staying together and providing a terrible example for the sake of perceived "normalcy."

I do agree bringing kids into an equation is different and something more to consider; but we just totally ignore that most parents are not in a happy monogamous relationships during these conversations.

Don't you think that if the idealized "normal" version of something is actually incredibly rare and something more often than not people fail to obtain, that people should maybe at least try to challenge their perceptions of what is the right way to do things?

Look at the logic in this thread.. "Most open relationships aren't actually happy"... uhhhhh... yeah, about that... lol

Never knew someone who had an open relationship that worked out for them in the long run.

What's the "long run" to qualify it being a normal relationship that would've broke down anyway? 5 Years? 10 Years? 25 Years?
Past honeymoon phase of the excitement of fucking other people. Partners get naturally jealous, start spending more time with the other person, or their relationship was never that good in the first place which is what I think is the case most often. We can talk about divorce rates all day but I have rarely even seen open relationship people stay together.

Again, most successful "Open" relationships you won't even know about, look at Will & Jada, all this crap has blown up now but there was rumours of them being open for ages, it's often the public aspect that ruins it because people will try and tear Open relationship people down or constantly throw insults at them.

Have you been in an open relationship before? I have been involved with one and it didn't end well for anyone including me. Im talking about personal experience and people I knew. I don'y know any celebs other than this thread in an open relationship.

If that's what you want then that is on you. I am 28 and I won't waste anymore time on someone that doesn't really want to be with me. That is the way I view it.

Once again sorry to hear that, if that's how you genuinely felt during that relationship then they sound like a shitty person.
