Will Smith slaps Chris Rock at the Oscars

Those long posts don't cover that red neck boy

''Instead, staff are having to mill through nearly 100 reports and having to address with a big statement becuase who are constantly only can't just not be at 11 all the time.''

It remains ever the impressive how ERA staff can twist events to make it sound like they are the victim instead of Jada or Chris.

''In short, just go outside.''

The irony.

There is something incredibly dangerous about warping the intent behind an action into something else to suit your own political or social agenda.

They are trying to make this about race, when it was about an unjustified act of violence.

And, it should be noted, a sure sign of an inherent racism is to automatically link a man's actions to the colour of his skin.

'Man hits man over joke about man's wife' becomes 'this is about having black skin'.

I wonder if they even have the capacity to wonder what black people think when they read this stuff. That there's the implication they simply cannot do or say anything without it being put through the prism of their skin colour.
It really is revealing. Because in their mind, they are empathizing with black people. But what they demonstrate is how they feel about black people. They imagine them as fragile, impulsive, violent. When they “empathize”, what the really do is reveal that they see black people as less than them. Because they wouldn’t tolerate those kinds of excuses from a white man. White men are held to a standard of behavior far above that of black people for these race baiters. Of course, you only do that for people you think need to have the bar lowered for them.

It’s really a demonstration of how little they actually think of various minority groups that they feel the need to patronize them this way. Even to the point of hand waving violence over weak as shit jokes under the guise that Will Smith, a multi millionaire, couldn’t control himself due to all the “trauma” of being black in America.

This is amazing.

A black dude made fun of another black dude's black wife and the black dude smacked the other black dude... yes, but remember, in a mostly white space, and remember the context of black oppression.

Also you know that alopecia is not, like, cancer. I mean I feel like I'm living in crazy land but yes, it's a bummer for women especially (even though there are a lot of bald black women, so she got that goin on for her), but he didn0t make fun of cancer patient.

Interesting question - what would you have done if Chris rock was your brother and you were sitting on the front row as you saw Will walking towards the stage?

FFs, he made a joke about J.I. Jane sequel; the original movie had Demi Moore be a persistent and determined badass and the buzzcut contributed to that. Jada also looks amazing even with the shaved head.

Smith took it too far. Probably Jada too. Rock now apologized. Nobody protested at the ceremony for the obnoxious display and they proceeded to have him get an Oscar and let him talk about love making you do stupid things.

All these people deserve each other. All of them. I'm glad I've stopped watching the Oscars years ago. And I hope the world gets burned out with the memes, since we already got an overdose of those and they've started repeating.
My favorite part of the incident is the way the whole room is now embarrassed for giving a standing ovation.

Gathered them all in the right spot and painted them in the right light.

I know this has been mentioned before, but why are some african americans Diversity, Equity and Inclusion writers making this a race issue?
It seems they're trying to shoe-in their agendas at any possible opportunity.
FTFY. The person tweeting about it is a black man shaking his head at this. And the answer is: because it’s the job of a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion writer to make this about race.

This was my first thought even beyond the slap situation. Chris Rock dug into the "Tonight Show with Jay Leno Monologues from 1997" vault to find that joke.

The reality is that Smith should be charged with misdemeanour battery, even if Rock doesn't want to press charges.

You think that anyone other than a multi-millionaire would get away without consequence? Try slapping your boss or co-worker on camera and see what happens!

Its ridiculous. You cannot set a precedent where you can physically assault someone for a joke at your wife's expense. GTFO out of here. If Jada had slapped Chris Rock it'd be a different matter, because at least then it'd be the injured party retaliating.

The only way this works is (1) if you assume a woman needs a man to defend her honour on her behalf, and (2) black men hitting each other is "just part of the culture". So its both sexist and racist, while being slathered in a whole other layer of hypocrisy due to everyone involved being extremely rich and priveliged.

Did they actually just say "black people are seen as more predominantly predisposed to violence than white people are"?

Horseshoe theory in action if ever I've seen it

That's actually been a belief for a long time. People have really thought that black folks are predisposed to violence more than any other "race".

Black committed crimes are always brought up (even here) when talking about race and how black people commit the most crimes (or are just caught more)... To say that that part isn't true is to deny evidence that many people think it is true.

Another thing.. while Jada was with august... Will was also doing the do with other women. They took a break looking to divorce. They got back together and we wouldn't have known about it if August had kept his mouth shut

They're utilising a stereotype to promote their agenda on something that is not race related at all. Its not progressive, just slimy.

This doesn't look good after dancing in the after party and "Getting Jiggy Wit It"

Edit: Knew it. He'd spin it as a victim

He should have hand-written it, it gives the illusion of extra sincerity, it's what celebs do in Korea when they fuck up.

The era statement that this is a nothimgburger couldn’t be farther than the truth. This has changed everything.

Toxic masculinity- now every woman or at least every teenage girl will expect her guy to clock someone after getting insulted. I’ve seen drunk girls pick fights with men and egg on their boyfriends to fight them. Most don’t but now they might feel pressured to.

Death of Stand up comedy- heckling is out. Now comedians have to straight up worry about getting assaulted after making jokes. The brave ones will still do it but this was the death of comedy in our so-called civilized society. Comedy will never e the same.

Oscars so unsafe- why in the world would any comedian show up at the awards after the whole Kevin Hart fiasco and now this. The academy protected their actor and threw the comedian under the bus. No one should go to another Oscar again in solidarity with chris Rock. I refuse to believe there was no security there and even if they couldn’t prevent it they should’ve escorted him out. Why would anyone agree to present after this?

Things have changed forever. Black men and boys especially who looked up to will Smith as a role model will now see all these women defend him and think this is appropriate behavior. Except that if they make the mistake of hitting a white guy they are fucked. These are important ramifications of this event that need discussion and era thinks it’s a nothing burger. Insane.
If pessimism could be converted into food, you could feed the entire africa continent for 6 months with this post.

Jesus dude, buy a fleshlight or a waifu pillow and have some fun or something...

I'm having a good laugh. Placing blame on someone who gets their head chopped off for making a joke was an all-timer for me. You should be proud.
You seems to hold a certain grudge against me

Like i already told you are always free to make a joke you like

However im not responsible or can predict how people will react toward your joke as it is beyond my control

Nope, no grudge here. Like I said, just having a laugh about it. Obviously no one can predict how people will take a joke. That's why comedy is a delicate profession.

Yeah its pretty ridiculous. Like we have the evidence. Why do we need someone to press charges?

What happens if you kill someone on live tv but the victim is dead and cant press charges. Should we all just move on?

I mean, how you responded to someone who said religion is not above reproach with "tell that to the decapitated comic in France" might be the most appalling shit I've seen on here in a long time. how you didn't even get a warning for that is beyond me 🤷‍♂️
Havent told you before the red line you must not crossed when making jokes couple pages before? Materials that should not be used as joke toward a person?

Dont attack

- illness/body defect
- family members
- personal sensitive matters such as his religion, drug problems, unresolved childhood issues, marriage failures, financials basically any sensitive information that could provoke/ trigger him

Im not blaming the comedian but when youre crossing one of those then always be ready for every kind of hostile reaction from your subject

that's not what you said. you said Chris rock was wrong to make that joke, which is not true.

just like I'm sure you think it's wrong for girls to wear skirts or makeup, and that if they get raped by subhuman individuals, they shouldn't come crying to you or whatever. therefore, burka. maybe that's a reasonable way of thinking where you live, but not here in the civilized world where we value freedom of expression

Inded he is wrong in that matters

Point number 1. Using someone ilnesess/ body defect/ dismorphic as a center point of his joke

I did similar mistakes like him in the past and get punished for that

Like i said, be ready for every reaction from your subject when you crossed one of those red line

again, I get what you're saying; If you live in the stone age and never went through a period of enlightenment, what Chris rock did was wrong, absolutely.

What a shameful display. Will Smith should be shunned and his award should be stripped. It reeked of a man desperate to impress his disappointed wife. The people defending it are hilarious. Basically toxic masculunity is bad, unless of course it’s used to defend the honor of your woman. What an ironic double standard. Is it ok if I slap the shit out of someone for making a bald joke around me because I’m a male with a gradually receding hairline? Oooooh, my poor medical condition! Fuck that. Chris Rock is a class act and legendary comedian as always. Handled that with far more integrity than most of us would have.

Youre living in a weird utopia where you think you can insult or mock somebodys wive infront of his men as you pleased and can get away with it

Reeee has another thread on this topic where everyone basically continued where they left off from the other Will Smith thread.

I’m posting this message from my phone so I’m not going to look for it. But yesterday someone claimed something like:

“Chris Rock is the White people’s Black man”

Something along those lines. Feel free to look for it yourself. A total laugh.
