Will there be kiosk PSP's any time soon?

I remember the Xbox and Gamecube having kiosks a pretty good while before launch. I don't suppose many stores will have units to spare, so what's the soonest you could expect to go and try one out?

At earliest, probably 1 week before launch or at launch

I wonder how long these kiosks stay alive till they break down :P

March 15.

Hm. I think from a business standpoint, you'd just want to sell both to as many people as possible. I don't think you'd want to syphon customers from one to another, hm?

Speaking of Kiosks, what game do you hope the PSP kiosks are playing?

Ridge Racers would be the best bet.

I haven't heard of any kiosks being set up and our rep, in fact, said there probably won't be one until well after launch. I'll just have to bring mine to work to show customers, but they can't touch ;)

Do they really need kiosks if the first shipments have already sold via preorders? I think they'd be fine to hold off until after launch.

I wish I'd preordered, damnit.

well it depends, most retailers would rather push the systems that give them more additional business, as in selling more games, I believe the PSP will have a higher attach rate than the DS

It may be difficult to get in on a pre-order now, but there is no way that Sony has sold 1 million pre-order units. There are going to be plenty of PSP's around at places that dont do pre-orders. Hit Target, Wal-mart, Best Buy, etc. on launch day and I'm sure you'll have no problems finding a PSP. 1 million units is a lot of units to sell through at launch.

I'd love to see a PSP kiosk before launch, but it'll probably just make it that much harder to wait for launch day. Can't wait to get my hands on my PSP!

someone with both will buy games for both... and probably more games overall...

Actually, short term you would. Assuming DS has decent levels of stock, it would be preferable to sell extra DS units now rather than making people think they'll hold off on buying anything until PSP is available.

Yeah, I haven't pre-ordered, mostly due to it being too late to be guaranteed one by the time I confirmed my JP system really couldn't be fixed. I plan on hitting up Wal-Mart at midnight on launch day (ours is 24 hours or are they all 24 hours these days?). If that doesn't work, I'll check out the situation at Best Buy right down the street and camp out if I need to.

Depends entirely on the game. Mario 64 DS would definitely get more attention than Ape Escape OTL for example.

Lumines or Mercury, although I know there is a snowball's chance in hell of that happening.

EDIT: Ami, was the March 15th date you said just your best guess, or did they announce that?

I doubt that. Ape Escape looks pretty good. Aside that, put a PSP with NO game beside a DS and Wario Ware or Mario 64. I bet the PSP will garner much more looks.

they've been doing that here for a month or two, they have an equally big crowd with kids rushing to the DS with some adults, and mainly adults running to the PSP.

Shouldn't the DS have more HANDS-on appeal,

more touch temptation,

urging you to feel its body.

its looking at you with big screens wide open.

play me, talk to me. even blow onto me gently.

did i get carried away??

PSP- eeeerm, ive got a big screen, and well errrm
